I always have to react to Opeth because they are the King's of Transitions. They are my favorite band also, Progressive Metal, really they are hard to categorize, just like say a Porcupine Tree, who I really like shout-out to all the Opeth fans out there 🤘
To me Opeth is the best when they get really jazzy, be it slow and melancholy moody or fusion-like and technical. Sorceress is one of my favorite Opeth songs as it sounds really 70s proggy with that fusion jazz intro riff arrangement, and then you have these 90s sounding alternative metal choruses and chugga-chugga parts, perfectly balanced. It's like a compilation of heavy prog spanning for decades, paying tribute to its jazz roots.
More new Opeth. I love old opeth but if I see another HF/Reverie, GOP, or BW reaction Im going to blow my head off, and I LOVE those songs, but Opeth has over 100 songs, and about 98% of those songs are good. My preference is probably MR, MAYH, SL albums, but it will be nice to hear someone react to Pale Communion, Sorceress, and CV more.
Suggestion - Storm Corrosion - Ljudet Innan While I don't believe you havent heard most Opeth songs by now. Literally impossible to believe you haven't just explored them off camera if you like em. Storm Corrosion is a side project of Mikael Akerfeldt (Opeth) and Steven Wilson (Porcupine Tree) feat. Gavin Harrion (Porcupine Tree)
A song that is very technic and tastefull . Needs multiple listening
This is the song that led me to my obsession with Opeth. I could listen to Opeth all day and all night. 🖤
I love the moment when after that proggy intro the main riff kicks in...
Next level musicianship.
The drummer is amazing!
Outstanding song. It's like a monster caterpillar slowly crushes you all the way. Slow but heavy as...
The intro is pretty much locked into the whole tone scale, which is super cool.
Now I known who the Opeth keyboard player reminds me of: the young Thijs van Leer of FOKUS.
Do Black Rose Immortal! A masterpiece by these guys

The transition in the latter part of "Master's Apprentices" (you know the one) is the most amazing one I have ever heard in any music.
Axe's drumming is absolutely flawless. That opening is a tasty jazzy treat to the ears..... then the chug hits 🤘🤘
I don't want this song to end
