This show was so amazing. Red Rocks is just outside Denver and one of the most famous venues on Earth. This was my 9th time seeing Opeth and Gojira played right before them. Both bands recorded the whole show for dvds and are up on TH-cam
Opeth are so amazing, huge catalog, and each album is a different vibe. Sadly the drummer left, but all the drummers they have had have been different but incredible.
Opeth should be required listening for any prog musician, IMHO. Musical geniuses with all the classic influences. Enjoy your discovery of this amazing band. FYI, they are releasing a new album very soon and have released 2 singles from the upcoming album if you want to start with their newest material.
"He knew how to DO stuff man. He was doing THINGS back there" I love when something is so good your brain has trouble finding the proper words to really say just how good it is. I'm sure Aaron would appreciate that drummer. But man you're right playing things without a metronome is scary. That's pretty much how we have to play in classical music and I'm constantly doubting my own pulse haha Ever seen the Bee Movie? Your shirt keeps reminding me of that 😂 🐝
So there will be more (live) Opeth in the near future here? Yes please! ^_^ Basically check out everything from Red Rocks (Ghoslt of Perdition and Deliverance are MUST), Opeth is so good live. :) Also Mikaels ramblings between the songs.
Let's be serious for a second here... Opeth are the kings of prog metal. Like... they just are. Akerfeldt is quite simply a genious So go listen to them. Like now.
watch this whole concert. I think it's one of the best sounding live shows as it's at Red Rock. The venue let's the music breathe and move. th-cam.com/video/b3MS-2e33bk/w-d-xo.html
The best band, ever. I've known for many years, maybe since the "Still Life" album. I'm waiting for the new album, the single is already online. bts. concert at Red Rocks is one of the best concerts ever seen (unfortunately I didn't see it live) 👍👍👍 Thx. btw. "§1", yes, new song 😍
Opeth are good at keeping guitars clear of the lower frequency range, so the bass and drums punch through really hard. And this song being in drop A on the bass really gives it that driving guttural sound
Different musicians, but when starting out Opeth did rehearsals in pitch black to make sure everyone knew their stuff. Anyone played wrong and they turned on the light to shame that individual.
Dont you be dissin King Crimson, or ill come over there, and pluck ye eyebrows! Also, me and my bro and our mates used to game in Greyhawk, long live Iuz!
Interestingly, they tuned their guitar to Drop A out of E standard just to chug that A. Funny to think about it cuz most of their stuff is in E standard or just sometimes Drop D/Open D, and their bassist is now forced to bring a 5 string along to play this song 🤣🤣
Pretty cool song, but all that proggy sht is not for me. I remember when I was a teen and had the Blackwater Park and Deliverence albums. Pretty descent, but Opeth is just too depressing and unmelodic for my taste.
I too need to listen to more of these guys. I've been a prog/rock/metal fan since the 70s, and these boys are awesome.
I envy you... You're in for a riiiide

Welcome to Opeth! Don't worry, you only have 13 albums (plus one being released next month) over 30 years to catch up with.

Once you meet Opeth, you will never forget Opeth. 🤘🤘🤘🤘🎼🎼🎼
They are WOW!
Opeth is one of the greatest bands ever. They have done so much good stuff and also different from album to album. ❤❤❤
I've been listening to this band for more than 20 years and i'm still finding new little details in their songs. Amazing band!
They just released two new singles. You must hear S1!

I think he got kicked out.
Yo dude, remember you from your previous band reactions.
Great reaction, sounds like you should really take a look through Opeth's discography! :D

Yes, you're right, it is awesome, and there's so much more of it with Opeth.
The best prog metal band of all time imo. You've stumbled upon a DEEP rabbit hole. Their upcoming album is looking to be spectacular. Enjoy!
Opeth and Between the Buried and Me are the best prog metal bands imo. Love them so much
Great reaction man👏
Axelroth on drums. Amazing!! 🔥

Getting into Opeth as a prog lover you're in for a ride, that's for sure!
Watch that whole concert at Red Rocks. Strongly recommend.
And now enter the rabbit hole.
If you want to see peak Axe from this era on the drums, watch the live version of the song 'Era.' He goes nuts.
yeessss welcome to opeth, their style varies a lil on each album but they always prog 😍
You should probably just have a weekly Opeth reaction if you want to get through their discography of awesomeness 🤘🤘
Wait till you hear their new drummer do chop chop chop.
”Burden” -You need it!

You just opened a can of worms. A good one, though. This band is ridiculously good.

Strongly recommend checking out the live video of their song The Lotus Eater!
Welcome to the rest of your Opeth worshipping life. Pandora's box.
If you like old prog like King Crimson, Rush etc. you will definitely like their stuff
Different musicians, but when starting out Opeth did rehearsals in pitch black to make sure everyone knew their stuff. Anyone played wrong and they turned on the light to shame that individual.
Love that 😂
You must react to the new opeth´s drummer video of their new song §1, his name is Waltteri Väyrynen!
Moar Opeth!
Wait until you hear the new drummer... beyond comprehension.
Valtsu truly brought life to Paradise Lost before moving into Opeth.
Dont you be dissin King Crimson, or ill come over there, and pluck ye eyebrows!

Akerfeldt is a big King Crimson fan.

hey, could you react to Leprous - Third Law (live at rockefeller), they are an amazing prog metal band from Norway!!
hi suite clarity guy
What up?? 😁
Leprous - contaminate me live at rockefeller is sick U should check it out
