nice to see how professional musicians still just try shit until it sounds good
+1
i wish to play MARTIn shit lol
Haha, I had the same thought
Theyre so friendly and get along so well too. Personally I'm happy to watch them make mistakes with such complex music because it makes them and myself seem more human
Fredrik Åkesson is one underrated guitar player omg...
yep
this needs to be like 60 hours longer
black floyd
Damn, martin came straight from middle earth to record the drums
so mythical, much wow
We want more! A FULL length documentary please!
This has given me a new perspective to listen to Sorceress.
To see how the tracks were recorded, what emotions were involved, and how overall the band and producer felt, is very important and it sets a tone and mindset for the listener
That organ playing though!?
Fucking blew my mind, awesome
THE MAKING OF SORCERESS!
Well, I mean, the recording of some guitars and keys. I guess.
Mikaels reaction at 6:06. One of the most funny reactions ever seen in history
Very interesting. Kinda bummed I didn't see Mendez playing bass or Axe playing the drums though
yeah same... Check in the description there's an extended version, they might be on there but i didn't check i don't know
Aaron Gentry
0:30 Nice ! Middle Earth landscape and mighty elvish warrior Legolas appeared to record his drumms, Mirkwood style !
Mikael @ 3:23 "come on dude, enough with the solo takes"
He's just so funny I can't get enough of him
Zappa moustache 5/5
Frederick is a seriously gifted and smart guitar player.
man this is just brilliant to watch. Love seeing how their creative process works and behind the scenes stuff.
3:47 the jazzy guitars sound so good
10:00 onwards - What has been seen can't be unseen! Thanks, guys. :D
Beautiful… solos on Spring 1974, so amazing!
*06:47**: "IT'S VERY DARK SIDE OF THE MOON", YESSIR, DAT 70's ATMOSPHERE FOR FUCKSAKE... I FUCKIN LOVE THESE MAKING OF VIDS ESPECIALLY WHEN THEY STRUGGLE WITH SOUNDS AND STUFF, OPETH IN ALL THEIR GLORY*
Spring 1974
Vijay Maverick "That should be fine, right?"
that feel when even the 'making of' video gives you chills
Omg Sirius, thank God you finally escape Azkaban! You have really a good voice
I love to rewatch this just to see Fredrik play those solos. By far he's my favorite lead guitarist
Cant wait to get the album, this sounds awesome!
...Spotify!!!
Love the way he's amazed by screwing with a cutoff filter
Could watch Fredrik play forever! And using a Strat in the studio sounds killer.
Clapton meets Gilmour meets Eric Johnson. Doesn't get any better than that.
Awesome album! I was at the Sydney Opera House and it was one of the best gigs I've been to. Thank you Opeth for bring real music to 2017!
i love studio session
I think it's obvious that Akerfeldt is an absolute control-freak in the studio, but I think he gives his bandmates a lot of freedom in the creative, early half of the process
Love this stuff
12:38 that there is a damn awesome guitar lick
so glad to see they are using strats to record some songs! :D
8:38 snus spotted
great new album guys!!!!
There's some amazing moments on Sorceress and truly emotionally raw stuff...yet It fails to satisfy me. BUT! I sooooo respect this band and Michael himself for making such a dramatic and honest change in style though, his vocals sound pub singer at best these days, the man was an immense growler but you can't expect that for forever at such the quality he once achieved.
Amazing album, such a great feel and so groovy
What a fantastic filter sweep.
Nice to see some CMS 65 in the Studio, Opeth does sound great on mine
Those first 4 minutes really made me wonder why those bonus tracks weren't just in the album...
Moog and Hammond sounds are SICK!
Very beautiful
This is great, more please! Also can we get some Méndez bass action and Axe on the kit?
Spring is the most underrated song they have
It's crazy that it's a bonus track
This is moogerfookin awesome
That Stratocaster is a thing of beauty.
At 2:41 where he did that part in my head I was like "yeah that's it right there!" And they liked it..I think I'm gonna go apply for a job there hahahaha
at 3:35...."leave it" and then they changed that final solo bit.....oh well, still rocks.
Opeth is probably one of best progresive metal/rock band!until these days me and my girl still plays sorceres cd in car.in cauda venenum 2019 are best album too.gonna meet them in 2021😎👌🤘🤘🤘🎸🎸🎸💽
Was*
Great as usual !
best making of ever
Love the Moog Voyager!
yes
"Perfect. Move on. I did a great job. Not sure about you" lol
Brent Hinds recorded some great solos there.
Mike's expression change at 6:04 hahahahaha!
Fredrik my brother!!! Fucking kickass....
Especially live on front row!! Most Uderated
AWESOME !!!
I just realised that mike pulls Zappa faces.
master piece..
it's amazing
Those black sabbathy keyboards.... Great
Those last devil horns by Fredrik is boldest thing I've ever seen him do in front of a camera. Jk of course, I looove the air you seem to have in the studio.
Opeth: Behind the Making of the Keyboards on Sorceress
Akesson signing Ghost Reveries CD's? That's weird.
Only fred make that Lameass Strato feel so badass
And Dave Gilmor/jimmy Hendrix etc
0:35 Holy shit! The hippie is strong in those two.
"Yeah... Yeah, leave it."
Very interesting facial expressions in this video!
No one chews snus, silly.
SirRunk *sucking
Nobody likes a smartass :-)
This may seem abrupt, but music is a gift from Satan, who is not who Xians say:
JOYOFSATAN (.) ORG
JOSMINISTRIES (.) PROPHPBB (.) COM
You are correct sir. Are you a Christian?
mikael's faces when joakim is recording that keyboard slide are brilliant

0:37 Fuck yeah. Those pants are great!
I'm really glad to hear this. I'm happy with their way. I'm blown away, Fredrik did a great job at 0:50 - 2:55. Just perfect.
Look at Mikael, he lost his mind :D
Mikael is the puppet master he says jump they ask how high
How about just show us the entirety of the studio sessions. I would watch every fucking minute of it.
MORE
6/7 min was great. after spiralingdownwards
This is great to hear the instruments individually, but in the album all I hear is bass sound overshadowing other instruments.
Fred really the only one keeping Opeth interesting since PC. Such a shame that such an iconic band has gone this route, but I respect Mikael's choice and desire. Will always have the first 10 albums.
PC? Still new to opeth lol
Cool video.
Nice! Marshall amps only?!
11:22 should be fine right?
Was there a studio session documentary for Pale Communion?
Where's the uruguayo carajo????
Mikael looks like he Is evolving into a Frank zappamon, he'll probably soon go 'eveything Is a fad' lol
Where's Mendez ?
10:16 lol
bellbottoms forever
In the first solo can anyone tell me what effect is used? Is it a phaser of some kind? Not sure
"Yeah! Yeah! After the doondonekuhkookah to the beowrddowdow"
Why is this song only a B-side?
Yes
ахуительно!!
Holy shit those keyboards
Shit, I'd never know how much delay there is on the album if not for 9:03
Should be fine, right?
Can anyone tell me what effect is on Mikael's guitar in that solo? Is it like a Phaser/Flanger?
I wanna know aswell. That tone is just amazing.
More beer
Have you guys heard of Opeth?
What's this song that is soloing Akersson?
And the others guys? Mendez and Axe.
