The Fans Hobby paradox: They've make some of the chonkiest, safe-for-play, durable robots in my collection.... some of which have the thinnest folding panels, that I'm afraid to even look at the wrong way (thinking of their Godbomber's vehicle mode side/rear).
Not super duper related to the video directly, but I will say I'm very glad TH-cam randomly recommended this channel to me. I love the positivity even when pointing out sore points of a figure. It doesn't come across as negative, so much as making note of flaws or where things could have been better. Even with the Missing Link review for the minibot guys it came across more as disappointment than negativity. It's refreshing to see a more upbeat review on TH-cam, regardless of the topic.
Thanks so much, I really appreciate that! Ultimately this is meant to be a fun hobby and there’s honestly very little about it which makes me genuinely negative :)
I hope Fanshobby will make a Giant Planet Version of Transformers Cybertron like , METROPLEX, QUICKMIX, & MENASOR I hope they will crate like in the original by Takara because the Hasbro version is not exactly the same like in the original. 😎☝🏻
As someone who has a ton of nostalgia for the original Tidal Wave toy and not for the Armada cartoon, I'm really looking forward to getting FansHobby's attempt at this guy rather than the Hasbro Titan. I really appreciate the inclusion of most of the original play features (though I do miss the seats in the landing craft a bit), and especially the ability to transform between combined modes without disassembly like the original toy could. It really disappointed me that the Titan couldn't do that.
Yeah that was a very notable change for the Titan (that I actually had meant to mention here). The FH take certainly feels more like an update of the toy.
@@SixoTF cool. Also did you know that the arms of the original Armada Tidal Wave can attach onto Cybertron Megatron/Galvatron via the ports used for Dark Claw mode (specifically the ports that Nemesis Breaker can attach onto)? While unfortunately the jet pack and other components cannot, I do find it very cool, and I hope that if a 3rd party Cybertron Megatron/Galvatron is made it includes that backwards compatibility…possibly even including a method for Tidal Wave to FULLY combine with that design…
I find putting the backpack on first is far easier and I’ve used the galvatron instead of Megs just because the colours are more similar and his joints don’t seem to have an issue on mine
It sure has more play features than the legacy one but is so off model from armada tidal wave it feels like tidal wave’s younger brother/son, cool figure if you dont mind the looks of it
I wouldn’t say off model it’s more stylization/redesign for something different since the official one is out and is accurate and off model would mean it’s the same design but isn’t done correctly
I think this Tidal Wave is too lanky. The head sculpt doesn't evoke that "titan" feel that the original toy had which the Legacy figure has successfully reinterpreted with that giant chin and the frown. This just looks like another generic Decepticon character... but that's just me. I don't hate the design, I just don't think it's "mighty" enough.
Feels more sleek than lanky. Like take those cockpit shoulders. On Legacy they get kinda lost in one big block. On the Fans-Hobby figure their shaping feels more distinct and adds some fun characterful angles to the silhouette. And I’d argue the head has plenty of presence.
I will confirm, as a military nerd, that the F-15 Eagle does not take up approximately one entire quarter of an aircraft carrier flight deck. If it did, I think I'd be questioning why the US Navy is deploying fighter jets that are apparently twice as wide and thrice as long as my entire house.
Thank Primus, Unicron, and Gaea this thing ain't excessively large like the Legacy United Titan class Tidalwave. That way it can do the combination with Megatron/Galvatron *PROPERLY*, with _NO 🐳💩 FAKE PARTS REQUIRED!!_ 20:15 OUCH...that seems like a QC oversight or maybe even an outright QC failure. 21:35 ...that kneel is lookin' pretty cursed right now. 24:21 So even Hasbruh got the face wrong on the Legacy United one (silver instead of black)?? Typical. But at least the sculpt is accurate, idkwtf kinda 🐳💩 Fans Hobby's on with that odd lookin' thing... lookin' more like Overlord's kid than Tidalwave...
I must admit I don’t mind the “fake parts” option for the Legacy toy - I actually think it’s kinda fun. The Titan face is pretty accurate though, I think?

There are some thin panels on what is otherwise an exceptionally chunky and playable toy, yeah

Fanshobby is one of the few companies that hasn’t forgotten that transformers and how they transform should be fun. Looks to be great!
Agreed!

I don't buy a lot of 3rd party but ive grown to appreciate Fanshobby as one of the few 3rd party companies that actually tries to make fun toys

Just got mine in, and can’t wait to tool around with him.
Have fun!
You've probably discovered this but there are magnets included to activate the lights. Try putting the two minicons face to face.
Aha! The more you know
Can't wait for the green repaint 🤤
I really want the titan version in energon colours as I have this in the normal lol
I’d be surprised if not
The what???
I haven’t even opened my legacy tidal wave! Now I want this 😂😂
Part of the battle cruiser can also be separated to serve as Megatron’s platform boots.
Oh of course it can! I massively struggled with that whole bit tbf but yeah, missed it
I actually think that version of Burning Megatron looks better, with improved kibble placement and a more balanced design compared to the original…
@@calvinstraveldreams I’m going to try it on their Galvatron

@@calvinstraveldreamsI wouldn't be surprised if FansHobby included it if they tackle Cybertron Optimus and Megatron
I can’t wait to get one for myself
Damn, i want this figure now
Haha nice
@@SixoTF seriously, those small playable gimmick sealed the deal

Yeah, “stylised” is how I would describe it. Same as their Armada OP in that regard I guess
All of their figures are stylized, the were never trying to be on model.
it's out?
Btw, those are NOT missiles😅, they are TORPEDOS, a typical traditional anti-marine weapon 😊
This one is smaller than the recent titan right? Might have to get this.
Edit: Probably should've watched the video first.
Haha right 😉
😮😮😮SO MUCH BETTER than the greedy Hasbro one! ❤LOVE IT!

Well, quite :)
transformers ps2 wuz a cool game fighting tidal wave
So I gather!

The Titan face is pretty accurate though, I think?
The face of the Titan class is accurate, Tidal Wave has always had a silver face.
The face is sivler/grey in the cartoon. You may not want to base your criticism on memory alone.
this pretty halfassed IMO
Oh?
any reasoning? I’d like to hear it since it does look pretty cool to me
