    Is there something that goes back over that opening when removing the crash bar mount to prevent water from getting inside?

    • @falkentire
      @falkentire  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      At the time it did not seem as if there would be an issue with water intrusion. The holes you can see in the video were in brackets that the cover bolted too. It certainly wasn't water tight in stock form.

    Good information! I’m thinking about doing a 0 offset on 17x9 as well. Now considering the tire size would a 265/70/17 work help as far as fitment without issues instead of the 285/70/17?

    On the 3rd Gen we can put 255/85r16's on with no lift or mods. Funny that the Falken guy doesn't know this, considering they make a 255/85r16 in the Wildpeak AT4. No chopping or suspension lift. Just for the Taco boys out there riding in the last great gen of the V6!

      Thanks for putting this info out there. Though I don't personally own a Tacoma, I am a supporter of a pizza cutter tire. Most people prefer the look of the 285 vs a 255, so I haven't heard that confirmed before.

      @@falkentireMy original swap from stock was 233/85r16 and those boys are skinny! lol! I loved them, but finding out that I can go up even higher than that set, mod free, made me get the AT4 Pizza cutters in 255. Great tire!!!

      no, and you dont have to remove the crash plate at all. The only reason the tires rubbed in this case was due to the offset

    Can you run these tires on the stock wheels?

    • @falkentire
      @falkentire  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Do you happen to know the width of the stock wheels? The LT285/70R17 Wildpeak A/T4W is approved for a 7.5 - 9.0" wide wheel. Also, the wheel offset of the stock wheels is certain to change the fitment. However, as we can see, a 0mm offset has the tires sticking out too far beyond the wheel wells. So the stock offset might work. We didn't try. Sorry.

  • @gman3563
    @gman3563 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    Not much clearance on compression. You are probably going to rip the fender off or smash the tire into it. The newer trucks are sitting lower and lower to the ground these days. The Nissan frontier pretty much has no room for anything unless you lift it.

    • @falkentire
      @falkentire  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Just because you can fit them in you should consider there're not engineered for it, and the truck is under powered as it is. Will say Toyota's dependability is solid.

      The guys from DV8 weren't very happy with the offset. But since the clearance was unknown, they played it safe. It's going to need a positive offset.

      Agree with your statement! They are a hazard to other vehicles on the road without mudflaps. Plus, they don't look good either. It's like a poser widebody without the actual widebody fenders and suspension.

    ARE u going to loss any horse power because bigger using diameter tire demands bigger torque to crank this 4500 lbs beast,, and you may experience fuel mileage decrease since needs to push harder on the gas pedal whenever climb hill or driving with load??? I bet you on flat,, good mpg,, but on ascent and with heavy load,, Poor mpg
