You can get rubber carpet edge trim. That’s what I’ve used on glass boats and even two jon boats I re carpeted. You can warm it up with a heat gun and get it to conform all around the edges
There is a marine vinyl type flooring that is anti-slip that you can glue down. Use predominantly on saltwater boats but I've seen it used on bass boats also. Has a lot of advantages over carpet. Another alternative would be applying automotive truck bed liner over a well-prepared service in a light color very durable easy to clean. I've used that on some of my Jon boat/V hull conversions on fabricated aluminum floors. I prefer Herculiner available at Lowe's and comes in several colors. Full color selection is available on Herculiner website
I've watched maybe 5 of your boat builds and I'd like your opinio n on new flooring. I want to redo the flooring on my 2004 18ft tracker targa boat. I've seen like the rubberized floor on crestliner boats. I think that would be great for hooks not getting stuck. That's why I don't like carpet, plus it traps water. Which flooring is best when wer, still some grip. One other question have you ever reversed the hinges on a walk through windshield. Tracker was dumb having it open to the left because that is where the vertical rod holders are. You have to move rods out of the way when you open close window. On the port side is my baitwell, not much room for rod holder, thought of relocating. Thanks
My LX700 had the same issue with poor fiberglassing under the cockpit, transom was weak, under the seat area they didnt glass well so if you dropped anything in those areas it fell straight into the sump area. The original Commander controls were made of cheap pot metal, w/ a bearing that was notorious for popping out. It was def a cheaply made boat , the Force outboards were Mercury made, the wink link was the carbs! My rebuild was a complete tear down like yours, with a complete rewire. I dont know what the factory used for the carpet, but it took me forever to clean the whole boat ; chemicals wouldn't work. Glad that boat was finished and sold.
I recently did my 99 700LX and man it took a ton of elbow grease and patience. Eventually I finished it. I would soak a rag in acetone and let it sit on the glue then scrape it up.
I think your end products no matter what you tackle always turn out awesome. Alot of people have tackled the eva foam in the bass boats and they have turned out great. I feel like you really should tackle it. There are NO videos out there on how to install eva foam in a glass boat. And with your experience and skill set with the eva foam. It would be phenomenal! Please out eva foam in this glass boat!
I found out the hard way, cutting out the trolling motor tray for my champion, check underneath before you cut. My boat had a cross member support underneath, and I couldn't put a tray in. Cut the deck for nothing
Yeah. Booo to fiberglass boats. Bust out another thousand that is what boat means. When it comes to those. But it’s cool to see u working on one. Hey off topic. Where is the notification bell because I keep missing when ur new vids come out.
You wanna recarpet my Triton while you're at it? 😁 I gotta do this soon. I'll probably put Hydroturf or the like on the floor and carpet with padding on the decks.
I did an entire restore on my 2001 Nitro 882. I’ve done auto collision repair for over 30 years and restored many vehicles. This was by far the worst experience I’ve ever done, starting with the carpet. After removing the carpet in the console area the drain hole that was cut from the factory should have been sealed with something. The floor was made of some sort of honey comb mesh. It was like a form of cardboard. It all needed to be replaced as the hole they cut for the drain wicked water in up under the storage compartments. All around the consoles were cracked with the drywall filler they used to fill over two inches of what must’ve been seems. I had to grind all that out. The glue was horrible. I used acetone first then naphtha. I let the acetone sit to loosen then used the slower drying naphtha to keep the solvent on it. The acetone really softened it. Glueing the carpet was a nightmare. I hope you have something that sticks quickly because I didn’t. I had to use paint sticks with clamps on both sides of the storage doors. Good thing I have hundreds of clamps for replacing quarters on cars. I needed them. I wish I could post photos on here. I documented the whole process. Good luck to you.
I freaking love that boat.
I mean its a Nitro, they are the cheapest for a reason, buy it nice or buy it twice.
BassBoatSeats has the edge trim for the carpet. I used it when recarpeting my 2001 Ranger
Thank you, Isaac.

I'll look into it, thanks.

Anything but carpet is good in the subfloor. For the deck, I would use EVA foam

Thank you. I will try that
@@TinyBoatNation believe it or not Clorox toilet bowl cleaner works wonders.
Any update with this build I’m actually about to do the same boat
I’m going to start it next week. I just got a major project done so now I have time.
Can you use the same method they use as a body shop do on vinyl top chemicals
Body/paint tech here. Your question makes no sense
Please clarify
The chemicals they use the strip off the old vinyl off of old cars like 60-80
I hope you do know about vinyl on top of cars back in the 60s 70s
I talking about that carpet
Cut those edges perfectly. Contact cement them on you will be fine

Appreciate it. I’ll get back to it soon.
Wow that sucks. Hope it works out for you even though your into more money than you expected

I did. It’s fine. There was just a poor league last piece of plywood that I can replicate.
I have a 99 ranger and I need to replace the carpet on mine and the fiberglass around my hinges…… not looking forward to it

Well lets just try it and see where it goes. Hopefully it won't be that bad.

Good luck. Worst process ever
@@TinyBoatNation Haha thanks, I'm dreading it.
Let the carpet soak wipe on a stripper put plastic over it let it set for a night you can wipe it off the next day!

Good to know somebody shares my pain!
@@TinyBoatNation and pain it was.
Typical bass boat stuff put some of the cheapest stuff in it but charge ya the most @ the end for there profit
Yes, I'm finding it out very quickly. Aluminum boats were bad enough.
