This is such a great song. I like all 3 hit versions of this songs by Gladys Knight & The Pips, Marvin Gaye & CCR. But my favorite is by CCR. Glad you listened to the 11 min. studio version by them. It is a masterpiece. You have a huge catalogue of CCR's songs to go through. "Proud Mary", "Bad Moon Rising", "Lodi", "Green River", "Commotion", "Night Time Is The Right Time", "Down On The Corner", "Fortunate Son", "Cotton Fields", "Midnight Special", "Travelin' Band", "Who'll Stop The Rain", "Up Around the Bend", "Run Through The Jungle", "Lookin' Out My Back Door", "Long As I Can See the Light", "Suzie Q", "I Put A Spell On You", "Sweet Hitch-Hiker" etc.
I liked the California raisins version too.
" I put a spell on you " is a must listen, right up your alley!
That whole album is playable and repeatable! For decades. I’m 62, listen to this all my life and my kids listen to it too.
Im a big Marvin Gay fan,but to me personally, this is the best version of this tune.
Just what I thought!
I totally agree! :)
Both versions are great. Marvin Gaye's version is the one that is played in the movie "The big Chill".
@@hannejeppesen1809 I not only watched that movie, but own the dvd. It's a great movie. :) I love Marvin Gaye's version, but my favorite version is CCR's. :)
This version misses the point and diverts to use weird pronunciations.
“Lookin’ Out My Backdoor”…”Down On the Corner” are a couple more great songs by CCR. 🔥🔥🔥
CANNOT go wrong with ANYTHING CCR!❤
"Green River", "Bad Moon Rising", "Lookin out my Back Door" & "Run Through the Jungle" are some of my favorites from CCR that you haven't reacted too yet
Great reaction. Next:
Fortunate son
I put a spell on you
Looking out my back door
Down on the corner
Have you ever seen the rain
Proud Mary
That was “Southern Rock.”
Very popular in the 1970s.
Swamp Rock?
‘I Put a Spell on You’ live, long, version is fantastic . CCR are a huge part of my life, John Fogertys voice is unmistakable & no one sings like him 😆 You have a huge catalogue to discover!! I still have all my CCR albums, their singing is therapy for me 💖☮️. Check out some of the videos which are wonderful, but my favs are the live performances best of all 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Remember talking with my parents more than 20 years ago about whose version of Heard It Through The Grapevine’s version was best; Dad’s favorite was Gladys Knight, Mom’s was Marvin Gaye, and mine was Creedence Clearwater; all are great ❤
There ya GO!! 💖😻🤟 June
CCR proud mary is another great song.. still think raisins will come out when i hear this song
I’d love to see that ad that everyone is talking about! Sounds like fun! lol!
CCR has many great songs. This one has been covered by Marvin Gaye and Gladys Knight and The Pips. Both are great performances. There is also a video of a tv commercial from back in the day for California raisins. ( see the dancing raisins...its entertaining). This was a very popular song.
Check out "Down On The Corner" by CCR.
I just love when people discover “swamp rock”! You had the exact same reaction that I did the first time I heard it in the 1970s.
Want another classic from way back in the day? Check out the Marshall Tucker Band doing Can't You See. You will thank me later.
My best friend turn me on to CCR many years ago… RIP my friend
Creedence...born in Berkeley, CA...of all places...and East Bay band who knew how to be blue.
Find a video and see them performing this when John Fogerty was 25. The voice that comes out of this kid-faced guy!!
It's amazing how many great songs this group has put out.
Hey Shon, its REVIVAL, NOT RIVAL.Keep rocking Brother. 🥁☘☮
The Everglades & the bayou are 2 different bodies of water. The Everglades is also known as The River of Grass & is now a National Park in Florida. Louisiana claims the bayou.
Thank you for doing the long version. It's the only one that matters.
Amen.
That drummer bout to wear out his arms! 💃💃🏽💃🏾💃🏼💃🏿
Best rendition of this song right here!!!! Nothing tops John Fogherty’s rasp and raw talent!!!! Shon, u HAVE to check out “Long as I can see the light” by CCR TRUST ME!!!!!!
Nope. Imho, Marvin Gaye and Gladys Knight both did it better.
Yes pls do!.
@@hippiemama52 🤣
Cool reaction to the best rendition of this classic tune. Btw, I'm an Everglader at heart, the majestic "River of Grass," the only ecosystem of its kind anywhere in the world. It's not a swamp, it's a wide and slow moving river.🐊
Thank you for reacting to the studio version and not the radio edited version. Such a jam session.
They did this cover well. Deeply appreciated the black artists who had done it before. Not trying to " up one" on them but wanted to join in the fun of the song. They aced it. Always love CCR.
I love this track, and you must love it too because you were giving the 'stank face' for most of the solo!!!
A great workout song for me. Use it on repeat all the time at the gym and when cutting the grass. Long version only for me!!!.
That’s the best version of this song bad ass thanks man ! BTW you do fantastic reactions and I appreciate you man keep doing it !!
I am 65 years old and I had ccr on 8 track, albums and cassette tapes. The music from my childhood was the best. I also got to see most of the great groups in concert as a teenager and the tickets were from 12 to 20$ each. Peace out ✌️
BRING IT ON, I am such an old rock fan, all of the 60-70's, music that moves the soul, lyrics are the bomb.
Great video. CCR definetely one of the best bands of all time. Distinct sound instantly recognizable unforgetable. No one sounds like them. Unique
Da Bass is nasty in this song.
Now do Suzie-Q...The full album version...!
Yes. The original album track is about 8 minutes long. There's a live version on the 40th anniversary edition of their debut album that's over 10 minutes long, and it's even better. If you like those long guitar jams, Suzie Q should be next.
"People say believe half of what you see and none of what you hear."
That is a great line. I wish somebody had told me that, when I was younger.
CCR are legends! So good! Not an everyday listen but every time I come back to their music it's like returning home.
Hi, Shon. This song is what we used to call groovy!
Great Song!!! Great Band!!!! You played and reacted to the Long version which is on the original album, "Cosmo's Factory," released in 1970. Excellent reaction from you! Your reaction was identical to me and my friends when we first heard the song on the radio in 1970. 🎉🎉🎉🎉
They DON'T miss! Even when they cover a song it becomes their own big time. Saw them 5 times back in the day when they were just getting started. They invented this style of music, and it still works today. Stack them up against anybody.
I really feel the rhythm section in this band doesn't get enough credit. The drummer in particular is awesome
Back in the day this song was so hot the dj at the skating rink would play this long version TWICE per session & nobody complained
I loved credence! Listened to them while in high school. Got high to it.
Bro, I've been jamming on this since the mid 70's. Welcome aboard to the music greats.
Love CCR ❤❤❤❤❤ Check out Run Through the Jungle and Fortune Son ❤❤❤❤
FINALLY ! A reaction to the full song, not the radio Edit!!! Thank you!!! ❤❤
There are other versions of this song. But this one is by far the best.
This is my go-to recording of this when I hit the jukebox. They did such a good job on this cover, many thought CCR was the original. Similarly, Ike & Tina Turner covered PROUD MARY so well, folks assumed it was theirs, rather than John Fogerty's (although Ike&Tina's went to #4 in '71 and won them a Grammy in '72, CCR's went to #2 in '69). You're right, Bubbah, even the Bible says "Faith comes by hearing, and hearing..."
I ❤ this versin for the instrumentals, the way that guitar sings & John's voice!
Run Through The Jungle,Long As I can See The Light, Lodi are all great too.Hard to find a bad song from CCR.John's solo career hits are great too.Centerfield is often played at baseball games.
CcR. 1 of the Best Groups ever!!! 👍 🇺🇸
👍🏻❤👍🏻❤👍🏻❤👍🏻best version for sure! Enjoy watching your reactions to some of the greatest artists ever!
Whenever I hear this one, I can’t help but think of the raisins commercial that used this song.
My favorite of the their songs is HAVE YOU EVER HEARD THE RAIN.
i love when that song comes on... blasting it full volume and singing at the top of my lungs, its also just within the range of my voice so its awsome!
Thanks for reaction to the long version from CCR, there's a short version from them as well, but it doesn't do it justice.
Hey, Shon! Another great song from my era! Love to you, from an old lady in Southern California.
CCR is one of those rare groups that basically you can’t go wrong with any of their songs.
Musical greatness. Love this full version.
Awesome, awesome stuff. Thanks for picking the quintessential version.
CCR, some of best music ever, can listen to all there songs, especially this one, best version in my opinion.
When you do I Put a Spell On You I recommend the live from Woodstock version. I don't usually recommend live versions for first reactions. They play it just like in the studio though, just a bit more raw sounding. It's amazing. They were amazing live.
For studio tracks, you can't go wrong. My favorites are:
Up Around the Bend
Bad Moon Rising
Green River
Run Through the Jungle
Lodi
Long as I Can See the Light
Plenty of others I'm drawing a blank on. Midnight Special, for example.
Gotta love these El Cerrito / San Francisco Bay Area boys if ya go north of Oakland & Berkeley you’ll hit El Cerrito Guys from a blue collar urban town that created southern swampy music That’s cool.
I love this band...you just can't go wrong with "CCR." They're specialty was 2to 3 min. songs to be played on the radio and they had that recipe perfected. I've always considered them as well as a few more bands and artists the workhorses of the airwaves. Because they're music was a constant, you have Primadonna groups and then you have blue collar groups and "CCR" was most definitely and band for the common man. (IMhO) I don't know I'm just a huge fan and have been since I was old enough to talk. lol Anyway, here's another female artist I believe you've heard one of her tunes and seemed to enjoy her so, if interested here's another. "Cindi Lauper - True Colors (Official HD Video)" (by the channel: Cindi Lauper) --Cindi Lauper is an American singer/songwriter, actress and activist who began her career in the early 80's. She not only has made a big impact on the music industry, but she did so socially as well. She has been a staunch supporter of the LGBQTQ rights throughout her career. And as always, I enjoyed rocking with you, Shon. And thanks for sharing.
CCR is in all my playlists🤘❤️ these cats had fun with this one, they did not want that groove to end😊
This remains one of my top 5 favourite songs and i never get sick of it. The shorter version? I simply refuse to listen to it.
Dancing Raisins!!
So glad you did this version
They did this song justice!
These guys have bangers!
Never a bad song with CCR, one of my favs is Ramble Tamble probably the most underrated CCR song.
Honey,honey yeahhhhh
This song is listed in the dictionary next to "Groove" AND "Vibe"
You are one of the few reviewers that has listened to the long version of this song and got to experience the whole jam. Great song!
"People say you hurt from what you see, not not not from what you hear."
What a perfect reaction to CCR. Shon knows what music is. :o)
I Hoyd it through the grapevine
Love CCR from way back , always been a favorite of mine. Thank you for the great review Shon.
I love that you are getting into the music!! My dad introduced me to them when I was younger. Saw them in concert years ago during the 4th. Absolutely amazing
Amazing jam session. Great rendition. Glad you played the long version.
Proud Mary, I put a Spell on you, Fortunate Son are my favorites from them.
By the way I love your reactions...Im just an ole hippy that enjoys your reactions.... your HOT 🔥 keep jamming😅
Check out Taz Farrant. 14 year old from Australia, touring US now. I really think you will be shocked with his guitar talent.
By far the best version. Please, please do Lookin Out My Backdoor! 🙂
This is called southern rock.
😅Love it! Would also love to hear some BTO. Ain't seen nothing yet, roll on down the highway, takin' care of business and let it ride are my favorites.
Have you done their version of I Put a Spell on You? Now that’s fire!!
SRV "LEAVE MY GIRL ALONE",1989 Austin City Limits
Check out the video of this song where they're doing it it's like a studio session and they just rock the f*** out
I love these reaction videos where you are listening to songs that I love. It's kind of like when you would turn a friend on to a great song or band and you get to watch them 'get' something that you love. It's a shard experience. Seeing someone enjoy for the 1st time, what you also enjoy. It's great rockin' with you dude (my version of Bro) 🤣
Loved your reaction. This extended version is so tough, bad ass, fire, etc
I put a spell on you ❤
Congratulations, you played the long version. Nearly everyone else plays the radio version.
CCR have so many great songs. Enjoy it. Greetings from the Netherlands. 🙋♀️🎶🎶
First time I heard this version too. Wow, it's beefy!
Love this cover by CCR, love the original as well.
Looking at the album cover, John Fogerty is on the right. The voice you hear accompanying John is the fellow behind John in the picture. You should watch the live version even though you don't get the amazing guitar solo by John.
You should do Proud Mary. Tina Turner does amazing on it but I prefer CCRs version.
CCR always a pleasure! That bass line is incredible.
You're right, sometimes you just some CCR in your day
“I Heard It Through The Grapevine” is a Motown song. Marvin Gaye is the first artist to record the song. His 1968 release topped the Billboard Charts at #1. Gladys Knight & The Pips recorded second but released the song first in reaching #2 on the Billboard Charts in 1967. Even if you don’t feature these versions on your channel, give them a listen, all three versions are examples of artist making a song their on. All three versions are different.
Ageless 🎶
Another HOME RUN SHON. PEACE
