The groove is so satisfying that even the extended version doesn't feel long enough. I've listened to this version and Marvin Gaye's 100's of times, and while Marvin's voice is insanely good, the CCR version is my favorite.
I gotta say, they Put a Spell on me everytime I hear it. SO SO good. I think it might be my favorite from them. It's long and spellbindingly intense....you can feel the emotion the song intends for you to feel. What a great band!
CCR classics - Proud Mary, Born on the Bayou, Fortunate Son, Have You Ever Seen The Rain, Bad Moon Rising, Lookin' Out My Back Door, Run Through the Jungle, I Put A Spell On You, Green River, Down On the Corner, Who'll Stop the Rain I guarantee that you've heard all of these at some point, at the very least as part of a movie's soundtrack.
John Fogerty: lead vocals and lead guitar, his brother Tom Fogerty: rhythm guitar, Stu Cook (with the glasses): bass and Doug Clifford on drums. But basicly, CCR is John Fogerty, he wrote all the songs and his voice is what makes this band stand out.
Don't worry about missing this--how could you know?--you aren't 66 like me (Creedence was one of my favorites). But understand that this music is YOUR music, too. Anything that came before is yours--sure it appeared when I was a kid and that created incredible memories and all that, but the music is there for the taking, pal. Join the tribe. Dive in. The water's great.
John Fogerty--singer, songwriter, guitarist--wrote almost every one of their original songs. Top ten male vocalist in rock. Unmistakable voice and can sing anything. In his 70s and still going.
Gladys Knight & the Pips were the first to hit the charts with I Heard It Through The Grapevine. Marvin Gaye had the biggest selling monster version of the song. Although CCR did not hit the top 40 with their version, their album version of the song is by far the longest version of the song.😮😊What you heard here is the shorter single edit for radio play.
It's amazing listening to youngsters surprise that they have never heard music like this. It will never be played like this again. So Poppa, I'm also 74 and we've seen the best and lived and loved it. And still love it...
As you said, this music was a sign of the times. We were protesting the war in Vietnam, had to be a little sneaky to smoke the ganja, anything that was 180 degrees away from our parents. The recording studios were all using tape, no electronic tricks or auto tune. The lyrics reflected the times and it all relied on the pure talent of the musicians.
Some of my favorites are: Midnight Special, Lodi, Run Through the Jungle & Have you ever seen the Rain. I think you’ll enjoy any of them. All same sorta style. John Fogerty has a soulful, raspy voice which fits this style of music perfectly. imo
What blew me away when I learned this bit of trivia is that all of their songs are three chords. It's some of the catchiest music from my childhood but, also the most simple.
Love me some CCR.I was just a teenager when they came on the scene. Now I'm still rocking with them in my old age. Lol! You know why the bands of my generation are around 40 and 50 years later? Because they made the best music ever played.I wonder how many bands from today will be around in 40 or 50 years? My guess is a few. Love your show.
CCR has sooo many good/great songs! You can't go wrong. There may be people who don't love CCR... but I don't know if I've ever met anyone who actively dislikes Creedence.
More CCR please!!!! Go down that rabbit hole 🕳️ and you won’t be disappointed!!!! I appreciate young ppl discovering music from my youth growing up in the late 60’s and 70’s!!!! It was a simpler time sort of!!!! So says Austin Tx!!! 😎🍸
Southern Rock was a huge influence on us..blastng from households and car windows...the drums in this one was heavily influenced by Native American sounds..we all gathered around the campfires stomping the ground underfoot..lol..if not literally at least in our hearts... Cheers Molly Boy... 🌿🌿🌿
Very nice post, Pamela. I would respectfully disagree that Creedence was anything close to southern rock, though John Fogerty was enamored of the Lousiana swamp creole things, for sure. These guys were were from El Cerrito, California. The burbs.
You’ll love ‘Born on the Bayou”, the rasp is so great. Super hot rasp in my opinion is the fabulous Bob Seger singing “Night Moves”, “Turn the Page”and “Come to Poppa”😛🤓❤️
Wow.... I've heard this song before, but not from CCR, what a great song. 👏 The reason all the older songs and bands are great is because they actually had to be able to sing and play. No autotune back then.
Bravo. They are the first band I love when I was 12 years. Have many hits....their catalogue are big. I Put Spell on you is to much...Have you ever sing the rain, beautiful....Long as I Can see the ligth....Molina...
That might have been a radio edit for time but it goes on and is spectacular. Please try to find the whole song. It's criminal to fade there. Keep it up! You're doing great.
Ok I need to recommend “Whipping Post” by The Allman Brothers, if you are into the raspy, unique voices. And I am gonna need a few 100 likes to this comment to verify what I am saying so he listens ASAP.
"Graveyard Train" on the Bayou Country album will leave you chilled. If you like a raspy, tortured voice, howlin' in the night for a lost love, then this is your song.
Why the chills happen you truly love music. I put a lot of band on the comments on the animals review..I literally know thousands of rock tunes that would blow your mind I'm 62 and I'm still in a band today. Just a bass player
John Fogerty is the lead singer. Midnight Special a bluey banger. Suzie Q. guitar solo is FIRE. 🎸Run through the Jungle. Proud Mary. Love CCR. A great rabbit hole to dive into.
John Fogerty went solo later on. They have a huge mainstream playlist but one of the less played songs I like from CCR is Lodi. The way he sings the word Lodi is very unique and cool.
Suzie Q, Down on The Corner, Bad Moon Rising, Proud Mary… just a few of their greats My dad credited introducing me to these guys as the reason for my lifelong love of a raspy voice and a “dirty” sound
CCR never disappoints. Check out "Bad Moon Rising" when you get the chance. Also, can I make a small recommendation? If you like it when the singer's voice breaks, you should really check out the most famous voice brake in rock 'n' roll history: "The Rolling Stones - Gimme Shelter."
John Fogerty: Lead vocals, lead guitar, and primary songwriter Tom Fogerty: Rhythm guitarist (blonde hair)and John's brother Stu Cook:(glasses) Bassist Doug Clifford: Drummer. The original members
Great band, lead has a very wonderful distinctive voice especially when paired with the bass singers. Thank you for sharing and your intelligent review and insight ❤
I believe Gladys Knight and The Pips were the first to record this although it might not have been the first version released. 1967, I was 13 and we had just come back from Germany (dad was army), stopped in Detroit to visit family and Motown was just coming into it's own. Good music!😎😎😎😎
I am a Self proclaimed Metal head and I love CCR. My uncle Introduced me to them when I was 6 or 7 years old. I finally seen John Fogety live front row. He was literally 5 feet in front of me. All I can say is awesome concert and we'll worth the wait.
Do the band Grand Funk Railroad’s version of “Inside Looking Out” the live video. They had like 10 platinum albums from 71 to 75. One of the greater three piece jam band of all time. Their other more popular songs were I Am Your Captain/Closer to Home, We’re An American Band, Some Kind of Wonderfull, Heartbreaker, and Mean Mistreater. You won’t be disappointed! They even outperformed Zeppelin in the same show in their hometown of Detroit.
Don't be afraid to grow and evolve what you do. One of my other favorite reactions channels started out 80's, but have gone back as far as the 30's! The roots of rhythm and blues goes back a LONG time, and is the basis for most of our music today! It is your channel. You do with it whatever you want and we will come along with you.
Hey from your Cali Grandma! I was so lucky to see CCR 2 times in the late 60s and once in 1971, just before they broke, because John Fogerty got in a dispute with his record label who wouldn’t allow him to buy back the copyrights to his own original music. He did not play that music again until the copyright ownership expired after 20 years. He now plays with his two sons in his concerts! I’ve got the best seat for his live concert at Thunder Valley Casino Venue in Northern California for this August!!! It’s a dream come true for me! My nickname in college was Susie Q, their first hit, which ironically not written by John Fogerty. The record label had picked it. Funny enough, neither John or his family are from the South. He was born and raised in Central California.
What i like about the guitar solo is that, the guitar is singing the lyrics. I've seen John Folgerty about 10 years ago with a different band. Still awesome to see and hear
CCR was one of my husband's favorite. The driving force of this band it the lead singer, lead guitar, and song writer John Fogerty. This is the same song, same lyrics as Marvin Gaye (1968), the first recording was by Smokey Robinson and The Miracles (1966), it was also covered by Gladys Knight and The Pips (1967). There is so much great music off all sorts to discover, I hope you keep expanding your experience. It's good you quit smoking, your lungs and all the rest of you will be thankful for that.
CCR is one of my absolute favorite bands. But so are the Talking Heads, and they also do an iconic cover of this. It reached a whole lot of people that weren't necessarily into the T-Heads.
CCR was old when i was in high school (grad 94) These songs pumped us up before early nineties/late teen shenanigans ensued. Tops: Fortunate one See the light Born on the bayou Bad moon rising Travelling band Every single one of these are less than 3 minute bangers Enjoy
The original was by Gladys Knight and the Pips in 1967. Covered by CCR in 1970. Covered by many other too. CCR were a hit factory back in the day, such a feel-good sound, and like you say, they are having fun and it's contagious. If you want more rocking CCR try "Travellin' Band" - If you want slow and easy, "long as I Can See the Light" If you want goofy fun, "Lookin' Out My Back Door" - If you want one of my favorites, "Down on the Corner", toe-tapping goodness.
You need to hear the whole Creedance library. It’s all great to amazing. This is a rabbit hole well worth the journey🤘
Agreed!
Aye
Thanks ❤. I'm 66 and will enjoy like this fucking limey l ❤ to.
Down On The Corner
Midnight special 👍
The uncut extended version of this song is a must for the playlist
Yeah I mentioned it in the last comment but the uncut version which I’m sure is on your playlist is amazing. Also check out Ramble Tamble
The groove is so satisfying that even the extended version doesn't feel long enough. I've listened to this version and Marvin Gaye's 100's of times, and while Marvin's voice is insanely good, the CCR version is my favorite.
I will check it out ❤❤❤😊😊😊😮😮😮😊
The only band in history that never had a bad song!!! Absolutely brilliant!
Their version of 'I Put a Spell on You' is the rawest, bestest ever!
Arguably the original by Screamin Jay Hawkins is the rawest, but still CCR's version is sick as fuck.
I gotta say, they Put a Spell on me everytime I hear it. SO SO good. I think it might be my favorite from them. It's long and spellbindingly intense....you can feel the emotion the song intends for you to feel. What a great band!
I love their live version video of I’ll put a spell on You ❤
I agree.
CCR classics - Proud Mary, Born on the Bayou, Fortunate Son, Have You Ever Seen The Rain, Bad Moon Rising, Lookin' Out My Back Door, Run Through the Jungle, I Put A Spell On You, Green River, Down On the Corner, Who'll Stop the Rain
I guarantee that you've heard all of these at some point, at the very least as part of a movie's soundtrack.
All of these are pretty perfect. CCR never had a bad song, in my memory. Excellent & amazing!
Check out sweet hitch hiker.
and Suzie Q
Add "Long as I Can See the Light" to that list!
Yeah! SWEET HITCH HIKER!
Every song from this band is a banger.
Damn shame the others never really understood and accepted that.
Democracy and bands don’t work.
I allways forget Stu cooks name...
This is so perfectly said
@@mariannetuite7411 Kind of you to say so, Marian!
That's fucking swamp music right there 🔥
Yes!! Swamp FIRE!! 😊
Yep. That is what we used to call it. Kind California (they are all from El Cerrito) version of swamp chugga chugga.
I Put a Spell On You, Midnight Special, Long as I Can See the Light, Hey Tonight
BORN ON THE BAYOU is a MUST listen from CCR.
If you love rasp, do Bob Seger (Turn the Page, Like a Rock, Night Moves, Old Time Rock and Roll). Every one of his songs is amazing.
Oh my God, YES! He’s amazing
Famous Final Scene too.
Bob Seger got me through my teenage year's 🎶 ♥ Now he's getting me through old age 😂
Ramblin', Gamblin' Man is my favorite. It came out about the same time as CCR's Proud Mary.
Or Bruce Springsteen if you like rasp!
“Have You Ever Seen the Rain?”
“Long as I Can See the Light”
“Bad Moon Rising”
“Run Through the Jungle”
My friends dad lived next door to these guys and regularly got to sit and watch them practice and drink beers with them..
Ahhhhh, wish there was a time machine to be able to go back to the time when music was real.
CCR on 8-track in my '69 Torino fastback--best days of my life.
John Fogerty--singer, songwriter, guitarist--wrote almost every one of their original songs. Top ten male vocalist in rock. Unmistakable voice and can sing anything. In his 70s and still going.
You really have to do the full 11 minute version. This is the video edit. The guitar solos in it will blow your hair back.
Yes Motown song covered many times, but CCR nails it
"The uncut extended version of this song is a must for the playlist"..... totally agree with this comment! Treat yourself to the FULL version.
CCR doesn't have any bad songs in their entire catalog. Every song they recorded was simply incredible
His name is John Fogerty and he's one of the best, you need to listen to the album version of this song
Top Tier Classic R 'n R
Stands the test of time.
Glad you enjoy it . . . Age 74
Great points--no effing autotune. Either you could sing or not. Talent and attitude.
This is one of the greatest bands from the 70's.
As a Granny I'm so glad to see young people enjoying the music I loved growing up in my teens🙂 Enjoy as you learn!
You can't beat those old school guitar riffs!
You don't get that anymore
Some of my favorites are: Midnight Special, Lodi, Run Through the Jungle & Have you ever seen the Rain. I think you’ll enjoy any of them. All same sorta style. John Fogerty has a soulful, raspy voice which fits this style of music perfectly. imo
Lodi. I'm sure Tesla covered that on their 5 Man Acoustical Jam album.
Lodi 👏👏👏
I still listen to Teslas 5 man…to this day! One of my favorites. Seen them in concert many times & always a rockin’ show.
BORN ON THE BAYOU
CCR
John Fogerty's voice is Magical !!!
You cant go wrong with any of their
Big hits (even small) The whole band
Is Amazing !!! Love them ❤️❤️
What blew me away when I learned this bit of trivia is that all of their songs are three chords. It's some of the catchiest music from my childhood but, also the most simple.
Just like AC⚡️DC
I was twelve years old when this album was released in 1970. I still have it.
If you like the Southern sound of this song you should hear Molly Hatchet they were a Heavy Southern Rock band. Beatin the odds.
This is one of those bands I discovered through my father. The older I get, the more it's so obvious how much they influenced bands too come.
Such a fun band, been listening to them for sooo long.
Oh. CCR has so many fantastic songs…. Must get into their songs…. Timeless, and definitely EPIC🎶❤️🔥❤️🔥🎶
CCR has sooo many good/great songs! You can't go wrong.
There may be people who don't love CCR... but I don't know if I've ever met anyone who actively dislikes Creedence.
If you like this one you gotta "Keep On Chooglin"..his guitar and harmonica are out of this world on it !!!!!!!
Green River is one of my favorites out of a ton of great CCR tracks. Hard to believe they were only together as a band for a little while.
John Fogerty's voice on 'Long as I Can See the Light' is incredible.
Southern Rock was a huge influence on us..blastng from households and car windows...the drums in this one was heavily influenced by Native American sounds..we all gathered around the campfires stomping the ground underfoot..lol..if not literally at least in our hearts...
Cheers Molly Boy...

Turn The Page is one of my all time favourite songs. Seger is phenomenal
Happy to see you discovering bands like CCR along with the heavy stuff. It’s all about variety in life.
Wow.... I've heard this song before, but not from CCR, what a great song. 👏
The reason all the older songs and bands are great is because they actually had to be able to sing and play. No autotune back then.
I like it that you are listening to my music and loving it. Rock On!!
I actually like this better than the Marvin Gaye version
That's because it IS better. That's really saying something.
Don't forget Gladys night and the pips. Probably the biggest hit with this song
Whenever I hear this song I can't help to think of the "California Raisins" ad campaign.
Bravo. They are the first band I love when I was 12 years. Have many hits....their catalogue are big. I Put Spell on you is to much...Have you ever sing the rain, beautiful....Long as I Can see the ligth....Molina...
Originally wtitten for and recorded by Gladys Knight and the Pips, released in 1967. CCR's version released in 1970, absolutely my favorie version.
Crank this song up and it takes on a whole new vibe. Awesome.
Lodi is a must listen. Likely my favorite CCR tune but all are fantastic.
Crank it up and rip the knob off
That might have been a radio edit for time but it goes on and is spectacular. Please try to find the whole song. It's criminal to fade there. Keep it up! You're doing great.
That fade out sucked. It was just kicking in.
Ok I need to recommend “Whipping Post” by The Allman Brothers, if you are into the raspy, unique voices. And I am gonna need a few 100 likes to this comment to verify what I am saying so he listens ASAP.
Def Allman Brothers fan, he needs to react to!
Their cover of "Midnight Special" is a must for you to check out young brotha
"Graveyard Train" on the Bayou Country album will leave you chilled. If you like a raspy, tortured voice, howlin' in the night for a lost love, then this is your song.
Glad to see you young ones enjoying the music I grew up with, nothing ever ever will beat the 60s and 70s music, it was magic
Why the chills happen you truly love music.
I put a lot of band on the comments on the animals review..I literally know thousands of rock tunes that would blow your mind I'm 62 and I'm still in a band today.
Just a bass player
this was the jingle for the California Raisins commercial
John Fogerty is the lead singer. Midnight Special a bluey banger. Suzie Q. guitar solo is FIRE. 🎸Run through the Jungle. Proud Mary. Love CCR. A great rabbit hole to dive into.
One of the first songs I remember as a kid. My dad had this on reel to reel. Definitely bayou music
One of the few bands where I truly like every song on every album. It's pretty amazing really, and they weren't even around for all that long.
CCR has some great music!! Proud Mary, Looking Out My Back Door, Bad Moon Rising, and Down On The Corner just to name a few!!
John Fogerty went solo later on. They have a huge mainstream playlist but one of the less played songs I like from CCR is Lodi. The way he sings the word Lodi is very unique and cool.
Hey Tonight is a heater
So is Traveling Band
Up Around the Bend
Run Thru The Jungle. All smoking old school CCR
Yes and he is still touring !!!!! Love it 🤘✌❤🎶🎵🇨🇦
These are the real talents of the 60-70-80s era. I grew up with this music and it was awesome then and now hearing it again it’s actually Epic!
Suzie Q, Down on The Corner, Bad Moon Rising, Proud Mary… just a few of their greats
My dad credited introducing me to these guys as the reason for my lifelong love of a raspy voice and a “dirty” sound
Cant You See by Marshall Tucker Band
One of my all times favorite tunes!!
John Fogerty: Lead vocals, lead guitar, and primary songwriter
Tom Fogerty: Rhythm guitarist (blonde hair)and John's brother
Stu Cook:(glasses) Bassist
Doug Clifford: Drummer. The original members
I grew up listening to CCR, my parents blasted it almost daily. Love them❤️❤️❤️❤️
Try listening to Iron Butterlfly In a Gadda da vita the long version CCR in one of the best groups of the 70;s
I miss those days of great music everywhere.
Thanks for this -- enjoyed it! I'd suggest "Born on the Bayou" by them.
CCR is one of those bands you play on a long road trip for like 10 hours straight because every song is gold
I am a Self proclaimed Metal head and I love CCR. My uncle Introduced me to them when I was 6 or 7 years old. I finally seen John Fogety live front row. He was literally 5 feet in front of me. All I can say is awesome concert and we'll worth the wait.
I was a babe in arms and it was my dad who introduced me. But otherwise same
Definitely listen to “Hey Tonight.”
Every ccr song will give you chills
Do the band Grand Funk Railroad’s version of “Inside Looking Out” the live video. They had like 10 platinum albums from 71 to 75. One of the greater three piece jam band of all time. They even outperformed Zeppelin in the same show in their hometown of Detroit.
You need to hear the long version of this song. The guitar solo is amazing
Green River and Run Through the Jungle next!! I fell in love with them when I was in 5th grade.

I love watching you learn to love music from my childhood!❤️❤️ Much love from North Carolina, USA❤️🇺🇸❤️
This is an absolute banger!
Anything and everything sung by John Fogerty is my favorite thing
The third version of this song, and I believe it's the BEST one....
"MIDNIGHT SPECIAL" was always one of my favs!
He sings it like he means it. My favorite version.
wow, i didn't expect that to end that soon. the original recording usually went on for a much longer time!!!
CCR what a group he has a great voice, i was 13 years old when I herd them for the First time.

CCR is one of my absolute favorite bands. But so are the Talking Heads, and they also do an iconic cover of this. It reached a whole lot of people that weren't necessarily into the T-Heads.
CCR was old when i was in high school (grad 94)
These songs pumped us up before early nineties/late teen shenanigans ensued. Tops:
Fortunate one
See the light
Born on the bayou
Bad moon rising
Travelling band
Every single one of these are less than 3 minute bangers
Enjoy
The music will continue,.. more solos ! Show !!!!!
Some southern rock magic today, Yay! CCR r truly amazing. Being obcessed as a child of the 70s I'll be a forever fan.🔥🔥✌✌
The original was by Gladys Knight and the Pips in 1967. Covered by CCR in 1970. Covered by many other too.
CCR were a hit factory back in the day, such a feel-good sound, and like you say, they are having fun and it's contagious.
If you want more rocking CCR try "Travellin' Band" - If you want slow and easy, "long as I Can See the Light"
If you want goofy fun, "Lookin' Out My Back Door" - If you want one of my favorites, "Down on the Corner", toe-tapping goodness.
One of my favorite songs❤ great choice, thank you, keep up the good work 😊
