Game Theory, along with its host Matthew ‘MatPat’ Patrick, is a channel that every week takes you on a deep dive behind the lore and the science of your favourite games. I’ve never done a collaboration like this before but it was wonderful to get the chance to work with and promote a smaller, up-and-coming channel. I’ve no doubt you’ll all be hearing about them any day now. I see big things!
In all seriousness though, WOW. As a long-time fan of the theory channels getting to work on this with MatPat and his team was such an honour. This project has been in the works for the longest time and it’s been so hard to keep it a secret for all this time! (Wondering why there are no Style Theory lyrics? That channel didn’t exist when this was written!)
I am so incredibly grateful to the whole theory team for this opportunity. In fact, I’m doubly thankful because when I initially pitched this project to them the idea was that I would have the song to publish on my music platforms but that the music video would go to the Game Theory channel. But after work on the project began MatPat said he wanted to find a way to make sure the collaboration benefited my channel as much as possible, instead gifting the full music video to my channel even though it had been entirely edited by the Game Theory team. (Shout out to the wonderfully talented Tyler Mascola!)
So, instead a plan was formulated to feature the music video as part of a larger Theory video whilst the full standalone music video would be here! I cannot express enough my gratitude to Matt and the whole team. Every one of them was a joy to work with as we put this together.

This is the PERFECT way to say goodbye to Matpat. Damn near made me cry, it’s so lovingly crafted and surprisingly emotional. It really feels like the song that represents the end of a chapter, but the beginning of a new one.

I ended growing out of game theory about five or so years ago, but I watched it pretty much religiously for most of my life, and I remember hearing the news of MatPats retirement and not feeling as bad as I felt I should. This song brought back all that bittersweetness, and now I’m starting to actually cry. Thanks, Stupendium, for reminding me just how much I’m going to miss him, and for creating one of the bests songs I’ve ever heard in the process.

As someone who has watched Game Theory for almost longer than I can remember, who has seen the channel go from one dude in his closet addicted to Diet Coke to a multi-channel network with so many people working together and a truly massive community, this was amazing. All the little references in the video, both in the text and purely the visuals, some so incredibly niche I would never have remembered them on my own but which this unlocked again, just mind blowing. Add on top a song that holds up as an absolute banger even without that pre-knowledge and I can’t even. This will be blasting on repeat for a long, long time. Thank you

As someone who used to hate MatPat for his theories, and despise his ideas
Then eventually getting older and realizing that is was…
ALL JUST A THEORY
And the started to enjoy his videos for what they were, theories and lil jokes
And eventually got into FNAF during late 2022, watched every MatPat FNAF theory and started to love him

@@JudeWasHere17i still dont like him because "Thats just a theory" is treated less like a disclaimer and more like a catchphrase, leading many of his audience to simply believe what he suggests without thinking further. While its not necessarily his fault his audience misinterprets his videos, he certainly could be better at disclaiming that everything he says is more opinion than fact.
This a brilliant way to wrap up the past 13 years of theories. Now that Matt announced his retirement from hosting, and all my fellow theorists can celebrate this momentous occasion with a brilliant song.

I saw a reaction from Insane Ian to this song in the recommendations after watching this. One of the things he kept pointing out were all the clever rhymes. It's hard to really appreciate them just listening to the song straight through. But his video reminded me of a similar video by Howard Ho on Lin Manuel Miranda's rhymes in Surface Pressure. So many similarities between his rhyming schemes and yours. They're so clever!
This was, *entirely* unexpected, but a genuinely INCREDIBLE banger. This seriously SLAPS, and the fact that it's deeply rooted-in and shows a genuine adoration for one of this platform's best long-time creators is such an absolute treat.

Still rewatching after a couple months, and I love how it gives me early 201X vibes. I used to play online games with a similar sound style (or something, maybe unintentional synth glitching from back then. Im no music professional). It was so rhythmic in an older digital way. This was great

This song feels more like a love letter to a game theory then any other game theory song. Everything from how the characters move to the editing feels so much like an actual game theory video. The song is absolutely amazing as always, you outdid yourself with this one stupendium.
The video portion was made by an actual Team Theorist editor, so that's why it feels like a real episode

The 1st video i watched in game theory is Sans is Ness, I remember watching a guy beat sans without getting hit and remember this popping up after the video and pressing that video is one of the best choices i made in my life.

For a while I was absolutely convinced that the honks and yelps spaced throughout the song were Morse code. I was wrong, but the mere fact that this song got me to listen to it at a fourth speed with a pen, decoder sheet, and notepad means that it truly embodies the theorist spirit.

I really think it was intended; if you look at that last chorus arcade cabinet screen; it has all four of the channel hosts' pictures next to the "Play / Binge / Eat / Slay" sign.

Following the first of those videos, there was about 3 months where I didn't watch any matpat, and was instead binge watching all of stupe's songs on repeat. I do not regret it.
This is amazing. I almost cried, now that he's gone, and even better, i understood almost all the references. The opening leitmotif every once and a while is tear inducing.
If there was a game theory movie this'd be a good credits scene. Man gonna miss Matpat🫡

This song is so stuffed full of references. I notice something new in the lyrics, the sounds, and the backgrounds every time I play this video. Just now, I realized why the song used those goofy old school keyboard sound effects. It was probably as a nod to Baldi's Basics, which used the same sounds.
With the recent announcement, this feels more and more like a finale song. The type of nostalgic number filled with endless callbacks that you'd hear playing over a montage at the end of a beloved TV show.

Its my first time listening to this song. since matpat left TH-cam, its genuinely brought a tear to my eye. Im happy to have grew up listening to matpat and the others on team theorist talk about their theories.

Sadly I didn’t find this masterpiece until after watching matpat’s farewell video. It was actually my youngest son who was jamming to it (our whole house loves game theory lol) Me and my husband pulled it up and watched it from the beginning and when I tell you I SOBBED!
This song is fantastic! It has so much crammed into it that I keep finding new things every time I see it. It’s a wonderful snippet of game theory and shows exactly what we have all come to love about matpat and this channel. I can’t think of a better way to say goodbye than for us to have this piece of this channel with him that we can all come back to whenever we might feel the need.
I’ve since showed my older boys both of who were very upset with me for showing them because it got them right in the feels as well, but that’s what art is supposed to do. Make us feel and this is 100% a work of art!
That being said I’ve watched this at least 6 times now and it hits hard Every. Damn. Time… Now if I could just desensitize myself to it enough that I don’t cry when I watch it that would be great 😂

I didn't realise how much game theory means to me until now. I wasn't too sad to see matpat leave the role since he's still going to be around, but this song just makes me feel so much nostalgia. It doesn't just make me think about game theory, it also makes me think about how much games mean to me and so many others in general. I wish I heard this sooner.

It's not always that Stupendium makes a wholesome bop, but when they do, and _especially_ when it's such wholesome support of another channel that I could not have seen coming a mile away, it always goes hard. The entire song is so feel good, each reference just serving to celebrate Game Theory's history!
Also I absolutely love the editing, it feels like a combination of Stupendium's and Game Theory's styles, and knowing that you actually worked with Game Theory on this to achieve that is amazing!
