- In Valve's now iconic 'Team Fortress 2' they created the world's first War-themed Hat Simulator. Two teams of RED and BLU mercenaries battle it out across countless warzones with intense firepower and fine head-based tailoring. Somewhere behind all of this is some sort of deep conspiracy with two warring factions, corporate intrigue and muscular hirsute Australians. But really we know it's all about the hats.
Harry101UK and I have been talking about this project for YEARS but I actually wrote it before we'd even met, long before I was ever recording music. If memory serves, I'm fairly certain that this song was the first rap I ever wrote. The earliest recorded demo of this song dates back to 2016 but the lyrics had existed for at least 2-3 years before that.
Of course I've been back through and updated the lyrics a bit to reflect 6+ years of writing and music experience. (the old beat I originally wrote to was almost half the speed, so some lyrics had to be streamlined to make them say-able!) The Engy and the Medic got the biggest re-writes, because the Engy lyrics were a total tongue twister that was unsayable at this speed and because I'd actually already recycled the Medic's original verse to be used in my Surgeon Simulator song.
I moved house recently and knew I'd have to take several weeks off from working on videos to do so, so now seemed like the perfect time to resurrect this project and have someone else make a video for me for the first time. And who better than the magnificent Harry101UK? We'd been talking about the idea of doing this project for the longest time and I'm so grateful to Harry for stepping up and spending the last couple of months to make this incredible animation.
And I'm equally grateful to my amazing Patrons who funded the project! Thank you to every one of you. I'm immensely proud of this video and I'm thrilled to be able to share it with you all after so many years!

In this one Pyro's pronounciation seems about as good as all the other characters save Heavy, which is a pity because it's otherwise awesome.
@@Hust91 Stupes still wanted us to understand Pyro's part without having to read subtitles, unfortuantely takes away from part of Pyro's personality but sacrifices have to be made
@@apossiblyhereticalalphaleg3595 I was more thinking that all the lyrics save heavy's are as inaudible as the pyro's. The song leans extremely heavily on the displayed lyrics and therefore sadly doesn't work very well if you just want to listen to it without also reading.
I love that compared to everyone else's verse, Soldier's has an "I'm just happy to be here" vibe. It captures his personality perfectly, just like the rest of the classes

I doubt anyone’s going to see this, since this song is a few years old, but as a TF2 veteran and long time fan I wanted to say I love the detail that each section of three has 1 class from each “classification” Offense, Defense and Support. I don’t know that this was intentional but it’s a seriously cool detail

He’s no ordinary artist, he’s an actual actor! He also knows a bunch of other stuff that makes him even more qualified as an artist

He couldn't voice solider or heavy but its still amazing how he's able to voice 7 out of 9 of the mercs.

That is such a cool detail.
The camera also gets some static on it, which would happen to an old school film camera, due to the radioactive particles (likely Beta particles) interacting with the film.

I just noticed that besides rhyming, the only wordplay in the Heavy’s verse is metaphors. All the verses are supposed to be written by their own characters. So, I really like imagining the others trying to teach him different kinds of wordplay, and as soon as he got a good grip on one, he went crazy with it, and stuck to good, old regular statements for everything else.
He has a degree in Russian literature he probably had a good time writing this munching on a sandvich

I really like how each characters part in the song has it's own feel to it, it really elevates the song to the next level.

I love the detail in 4:41! Pyro can't airblast the grenade because in that moment he has the phlog equipped, but when he tries again with the stock flamethrower it's too late.

The Stupendium is just stupendous at masterful lyrics and pairing them perfectly with super catchy melodies. There's a solid four songs they've made that I've gotten stuck in my head.

The funny thing is while soldier's line of teaching Sun Tzu is taken as a joke, you have to realize in the TF2 lore, stairs wheren't invented until the 1900s, where they where first patented by Abraham Lincoln, that Rocket Jumping was discovered by William Shakespear, and for 1000 years Rocket Jumping was the only way people could move between floors.
So Sun Tzu being alive in the 1900s and taught by soldier is a very real possibility.

Let's all take a moment to note and appreciate that one British man was able to flawlessly do a Brooklyn, Scottish, Australian, French, Texan, Whatever the frick Pyro is, and a German accent, and another British man was able to do a flawless Midwestern and Russian accent, and both were able to rap with ABSOLUTELY no issues (kind of for the Heavy, but that is in character). That is superior talent.
And of course we can't forget the animations, another serious level of talent.
Scout actually is supposed to have a Boston Accent. because he's from there. but the two do sound fairly similar.

The best part about this is that all their lines are so in-character. I really like other TF2 raps by others such as JT Music, but I think this one in particular _really_ nails their characterisation to a damn tee.
