It doesn't really come up in the show, but canonically Bandit is an archaeologist, and Chili works at airport security. In other words, Bandit digs up bones, and Chili is a drug-sniffing dog.
I personally thought chilli was an animator or artist if some kind. Because in the dragon episode the markers she uses are called copics and are a professional brand that only professionals would use
Fun fact: the name of the episode during production was called “We’ll See”. The episode is also a test basically to see if people would accept a longer format such as a movie. I can’t wait for a movie!
My favourite thing about the production that occurred to me later is that, the way the episode finishes with the song and no spoken words, the Heeler family voice cast didn't know (even after recording) how the episode would finish! Lines up really well with the working title.
@neiltinley4858 so you're telling me the conclusion to the big story didn't have any dialogue whatsoever within or about said conclusion? Did the script just end with them driving away or did it just awkwardly cut off out of nowhere?
@Pokemaster-wg9gx kind of... two guest voice actors say the last lines that lead to the ending, but there's just music for the last few minutes and the rest is all visual.
You forgot the detail that in season 2 episode 45 Helicopter, Winton not only mentions that his dad doesn’t live with his mum but also the fact that his dad has a pool.
I was going to say the same thing also Bluey is W I will never stop watching it and I will always understand every reference, whether it's in show or real life
Aussie Here! Bluey's locations are based on real places in Australia, the city of Brisbane specifically. the healers and their neighbours live in Paddington, and the lookout that features in 'The Sign' is Mt Cootha Lookout.
Cool, I’m from Australia but have never lived there or in one place in Australia for more that 6 months. I never knew that. Those things can get very common all over the country.
the butterfly effect being demonstrated by an ACTUAL BUTTERFLY is so simple yet sooo effective and genius!! I hadn't even noticed all of these details so im reallly glad I clicked on this video
I feel like Bluey was made to be the type of show that the writers and creators wished they had growing up. Learning basic academics is all well and good, but there weren't many shows dealing with big topics that affect kids in everyday life.
When I watched this episode, I literally cried at the ending. I just graduated highschool and the theme of not knowing what is happening going forward has never felt more real for me. This episode really taught me something
Damn... I'm in the middle of high school and feel the exact same way. Only 14 and idk how everything's gonna go. But i know you'll get though it! The futures bright!
Bro the moving part when bluey was sad was actually me. I was 10 in california when I met this kid a year later after moving there. He became my best friend. But after less than a month. I had to move. I wasn't as sad as I really could be, I was still prossessing that I had to move. I went to his house to play with him one last time. I took a picture with him and it was framed. I took the picture with me. I sat in my car. look at him. All of the sudden I got sad and then I was told that he was crying. Then my eyes started watering. I couldn't hang on to the fact that I wouldn't see him again, and that this was my last time seeing him. Years later, I still have the picture with me. Getting emotional everytime I see it. I haven't really heard from him in a while, but I hope he's okay.
technology has gone so far. if you still remember his name it doesn’t hurt trying to reach out to him through some sort of social media! really up to you, i hope for the best :)
Bluey hooked me with one single clip, Jack having ADHD and his sibling being like, "Why can't you do what your told?!" and he just responds, "I don't know...." hit me like a truck like he wasn't angry or anything it was such a serious moment of confusion. Like god, having ADHD it's pretty much that for me with my friends. "You weren't paying attention were you?" in something like dungeons and dragon and i'm like, Sorry no I kinda zoned out a bit... and they just get a bit frustrated with me. Bluey is my comfort show for sure.
As somebody with ADHD I relate to this heavily And ive also lost a lot of things do to forgetting, My hat my wallet, my house keys… And at school I was always told to sit still And act normal Im finally off my pills thanks to my ( ironically enough ) army recruiter Going in 2025 lol Thanks bluey
I have ADHD as a 13 y/o and I know so many kids who I'm pretty dure have ADHD too, so I've never felt out of place (besides some other things that happen). I also take meds.
so true! i have 80 hds too (if you know that meme you are my fren) and i once sat down to do some work and quite literally said "ooh, a table" and proceeded to inspect my desk lmao
As someone who had an abusive set of parents, bluey is cathartic for those of us who didn't have the family dynamic. It makes me warm inside and I cry almost every episode, because it's just so wonderful to see a cartoon giving a generation of children and a family a guide map into how to be kind to one another. I just really feel very specific emotions when I watch this show. A lot of people grow up in healthy or normal homes, and some....just don't know what healthy is. But bluey gives that slice and it's so beautiful. I cry even at the silly non emotional episodes. Because it's living vicariously
I feel the same way as someone who grew up with a shit mom. Every time I moved since I was 11 I remember being happy and excited because I would be with new people in a better home. I finally reached a point where I am happy and living in a house where I feel loved and have enough space to live comfortably but in about a year I will need to move for grad school. I’m gonna miss it.
my gf and I both had unhappy childhoods and have strained or nonexistant relationships with our families. We absolutely love Bluey and have had trouble getting through season 1 because we cry every other episode if not every episode. its 100% cathartic.
One other thing just from listening to this I noticed, they pointed out how 'pulling out the sign' means it isn't for sale anymore. That wouldn't have been true if they just pulled it out at the beginning of the episode regardless of their child logic, but Bandit pulling it out at the end ended up making it true, and that's kinda beautiful too cause it then instantly translated to both Chilly AND the kids that they where in fact staying, and not leaving. I think that's also really hecken cool.
But what about all the kids that DO have to move? 99% of kids are moving once the trucks are packed. This gives them horrible false hope, rather than helping them process a hard move and show how bluey and bingo can make new friends.
@@captnshrms parents can talk with their kids about the episodes and make it clear if their situation is different to what happens on a tv show. The advice given when they still thought they were moving can still apply, I’m sure, too. It’s unfortunately going to hurt children when they have to move away from friends and family regardless, but they’ll adapt if given support and kids typically make new friends fairly easily. Bluey has had episodes where Bluey and Bingo have to make new friends in a new environment, but making new friends after moving is tackled in a lot of kids shows if you feel it important they see that experience represented. The children’s movie “Inside Out” is about a child struggling after moving to a new place, and how sadness is a normal and healthy emotion to feel in such circumstances.
14:46 Not to mention that Winston’s dad’s house was established to have a pool back in the episode “Helicopter” because it was literally the only feature the Winston could recall about his Dad’s house.
just FYI for anyone wondering about Bandit's/Chili's jobs at 4:55. Bandit is the Director of Archaeological Studies at the local University. (The university was never named, but we're assuming its the University of Queensland, since the Heeler's live in Brisbane, Australia) And Chili is the Chief of Security at the local airport (Again, airport is never named but we're assuming its Brisbane Int'l) According to google, the Average salary of a Education Director in Austrailia can range between 78k - 180k/yr, and the average salary of a Security Chief/Supervisor can range between 63k - 270k/yr. So on the low end, the heeler's household income is anywhere around 141k/yr. The median household income for a family of 4 in Brisbane is 1791/wk, or 87k~/yr So the heeler's are pretty well off, and they might be even more so if they are closer to the high end of the salary range in their respective fields.
Speculation among fans is that the house is actually Bandit's parent's house. His parents now live in an apartment on the Gold Coast and possibly sold the house to Bandit and Chilli at a reduced price, given its excellent location and condition. Rad doesn't need the house (he lived in WA and is/was an oil rig worker) and Stripe already had his expensive house and is well off (he's a FIFO worker in the mines).
That last line hit me. My sister made fun of me for still watching cartoons at 10 years old, so I stopped. When I met my husband, I realized it was okay to enjoy cartoons. Now I'm 38 and loving Bluey more than any other show out there!
After years dealing with real world (in a very corrupt country as well) Idgaf and watch cartoon and anime because I felt that those shows tend to be more honest about a lot of things. Western live action TV series on the other hand felt like it's full of hypocrisy and acting way too hard to be "tough" or "mature" but now after we knew hollywood hypocrisy they're nothing more than just a bunch of propagandist and PR team.
Are you for real!? 10 is like the perfect age to enjoy cartoons! I'm sorry your sister did that, but I'm glad you found a partner that reignited your love for them.
The coin. Bluey's lucky coin in the wrong place which helped the couple planning on purchasing the Heeler household see another house that they would end up buying instead. + Without Bingo making Bandit late in that one episode she wouldn't be friends with Lila, and they wouldn't have helped the butterfly which led them to Frisky, therefore Bingo saved their home.
But wasn't the reason they were gonna move in the first place because of Bandit's new job? The people buying the house suddenly not wanting it any shouldn't make a difference.
There's so many little things in every episode! I always notice something new every time I rewatch the episodes. Also, the hiding wiener dog in every episode 😌
"the heelers are STAYING in... Australia" Queensland, they live in Queensland. Chilli said after Bluey said "is that allowed?" she said "Queensland Law (something something)" so yeah, Queensland
I think they stay in Queensland and are just moving out of the main city Brisbane. As bandit is an archaeologist there are most likely more jobs up in Richmond or other places on the dinosaur trail. But yeah they are staying in the main city Queensland. (As someone who was born in Queensland and is Australian)
@@hidinginyourcloset australian here, lived in brisbane for a good few years. it's a pretty damn nice place in my book, so i cant think of any super specific issue, but my best guess would be theyre referring to the heat and humidity. it's like living in a freakin' sauna in summer. cant imagine thatd be fun with fur lmao
The best part is, like in a lot of modern animation, there is an overarching story in Bluey, but in Bluey its subtle and used more as a setpiece then a compelling narrative, which I haven't seen before, at least not done nearly this well. Remember when we had a whole episode about Bandit and his friends removing a stump, and Chili says "I want to put in a duck pond", and then half a dozen episodes later we have a whole episode about the duck pond being put in, Such a throw away line, that they could have never followed through with and nobody would have noticed. Bluey does this all over the place, it truely is a masterfully written animated series, one of the best in it's genre.
So we might not be getting a season 4 for a long time. We will be getting mini 3.5 minute episodes and a possible movie. But the creator voiced his concerns with the child actors growing up and not wanting to leave them behind if the show moves forward, so if we do get a season 4 it might feature aged up version of the characters. That’s why The Sign and Surprise kind of feel like a series finale because it kind of is the end of series 1 and the start of series 2
I mean having the characters grow with the cast then is just kinda a no brainer there lel Imagine the child actors going through puberty leads to episodes tackling various parts of puberty and helping the younger viewers through it or preparing them for it so it isn't as stressful
@@taimelyad.2731 That was years ago, they stopped production in 2021 and are only doing the mini shorts for now and MAYBE the movie. We'll just have to see
Insane for a kids show, I love this so much. Bluey, Steven Universe, Owl House, there's been an amazing string of good cartoons "for kids" that feel more human than most of the media out there
When I was 13 my family had to move across the country for my dads new job. How Bluey tackled the feeling of having to move out of a home you’ve been in for years, a city you’ve always been in, and a town full of everyone you know and love is exactly how it feels. The dread, the anxiety, the unknowing-ness is all exactly what everyone in my family felt when we had to move. I’m so glad that unlike us, they actually stayed where they were! I will be honest tho, moving here was one of the best thing that could have happened to me!
Muffin also had some character development too as an older sister as she helped strap Socks into the car seat. It's the small details like that that make me love this show.
A show I'd highly recommend watching is Fireman Sam, which is a British kids cartoon and is quite nice. I think you'll find that the stop motion series and the classic series is very enjoyable unlike the CGI series.
I bet it will, it made Me Weep in Joy, not Laughter, just Joy- That's not something any other Show could do to Me! Proves that Bluey is a Cartoon Masterpiece!
@@StevenDaze A show I'd highly recommend watching is Fireman Sam, which is a British kids cartoon and is quite nice. As someone who has been following Bluey for years now, as well as someone in their late teens , I needed this show. I needed to hear that I wasn’t alone, that people felt lonely and sad and angry no matter who or where they were. I needed this so much, even if i’m just one person, during my early and mid-teens. I turn sixteen in a week and I’m scared, but if these cartoon dogs can move on with their lives and deal with big emotions, so can I. Thank you, Bluey. Thank you for everything.
Happy Birthday🎉🎉 .......I'm an adult and I love the show. Started watching it with my nieces and nephew. Now I watch it by myself. I'm glad you found comfort watching the show.😊
I'm a red blooded 32 year old man, tough as they come, and seeing Chili VOILENTLY SOBBING when she tackles Bandit at the last minute decision fully broke me in half.
Im not invested in bluey but even i saw Twitter going insane over this string of episodes. Clearly the creators of this show have a lot of passion for it.
Since you were curious enough to watch this YT video, I seriously recommend watching it. I started watching Bluey after a YT video like this one and I've already watched every last episode I can get my hands on, no regrets
@@Itskaidaorangeguy2017if every platform loves it. Even ur enemy's. Then it is indeed good.. Kind of.. Not the toxic part of the fandom but we don't talk about those people hurting children in stores
I'm 24 and i've been living in the same house since childhood. But my grandpa is going to have to sell the house and my mom and I are going to have to move. No matter your age the idea of moving is terrifying once you really think about it. So many memories gathered in one place and eventually it'll all be gone (our house is on a flood zone so the state is gonna tear it down once the sale goes through). The thought that every single moment in that house is gonna be lost hurts and I hate when people say "oh you're an adult you'll be fine" or "stop acting like a child". That's the point! No matter what age you are it doesn't stop it from hurting. All your toys, furniture, even plates, being moved to a new home. One where you don't know each and every sqeaky floorboard to avoid so you can sneak around late at night, one where the kitchen feels smaller than you expect, one where the basement and the attic don't exist, no matter what it is, part of you is going to remember that house, YOUR house. The one where you knew every hiding spot, the one where you had the garden in the backyard, the one where you spent every christmas and halloween up until now. I know it'll eventually be okay but the thought of so many years of my life, so many memories, the place they were created not existing anymore hurts. And it'll always hurt. But that's okay, because it's all apart of growing up.
Takes pictures of every detail of that house. It won't help you with the move and upheaval, but one day you might be able make a 3D rendering of it to help preserve the memory. I did the same with my grandma's house and built a replica in Minecraft, It's the only way I can still visit that house now that she's passed and the house has been sold. Good luck.
And if it makes you feel any better, you can sit happily knowing that you and your family were the last people to make memories in that house. No one else can say they lived in your house.
The fact that Bluey pulls off it's flash-backs and implied future scenarios with planned out deliberation and consistency better than modern Simpsons, which recently retconned Homer as having grown up in the 90's to relate him to the modern adult audience instead of maintaining his 60's childhood and 70's adolescence, speaks to the skill, integrity and passion the show's creators and their writers and artists have for animation and their audience demographic.
one thing i can absolutely praise bluey for is its maturity. i was so scared after all of those 2010s cartoon network shows ended that all of these new cartoons would just be nothing burger shows, with no real spirit or emotion in them. hell, even early spongebob had important life lessons, even for adults. its never to late to learn new things, especially things that can make life a little more tolerable and enjoyable. bluey is blowing expectations out of the water and into space. absolute masterpiece.
When I was watching the sign I literally started crying because I just moved states before my junior year of high school I was kinda of hoping that they wouldn’t stay and I’d get episodes with what I’m going through now after moving. But it made me so happy for bluey that she got to stay.
The Bluey official channel has uploaded the full episode of one of the episodes you can't watch on Disney+ because dad simulates child birth with Bingo
Bluey is actually set in Brisbane! Bluey is already a fantastic show with so many layers that I love to pick apart, but also being from Brisbane myself makes the show way more special. Sometimes they'll visit places which I've been to heaps of times, like the boardwalk near Brisbane River, but then there are little things like specific flowers they have growing in their garden that I have in my garden too, or just quintessential Brissy experiences, like the waterslide episode. Point is, I really wish I had Bluey growing up, would've loved to see and catch all the references.
The thing that got me with bluey is how it's a kids show based in the real world. The world itself isn't tailored to kids. It's a real world that has kids in it and through the eyes of a kid. It makes everything feel real and genuine
Seriously, Caillou is a little SHIT of a kid. Absolute brat and pretty much everyone I've ever known who saw the show hated him and hated if their kids tried to act like him. A few forbid their kids from watching it anymore because it was so bad. He does all sorts of terrible, cruel things - including to a helpless baby - and never gets punished for it!
One of the reasons why bluey is 10x better than peppa pig, is because they know that old episodes exist and use them to add emotion, while peppa pig doesnt care and makes an episode not even talking about the past, acting like it never happened
Pepper Pig (and most kids shows) are written and animated and whatever else as if kids are stupid. Any kids story that stands the test of time is something that everyone can enjoy, kids and adults alike. I'm sure we can all think of those things we watched as kids, but as adults, we can't recall anything about them, and watching them back now is incredibly irritating (for me, it's Angela Anaconda). But then there's the "classics", like Winnie the Pooh and Alice in Wonderland, the things written with passion and respect for the intelligence of kids. Bluey does that. It recognises that kids are smarter than adults usually realise, that they pick up on things (like parents fighting).
another big important callback to Stickbird most people miss while watching the episode is the way Bandit rips the sign from the ground and throws it away in the same way Bluey taught him and Bingo to throw away what upsets them, it's even the same camera angle. also another thing that separates Bluey from most family shows is how it allows the adults to actually express real emotions. through the entire episode we can notice both Bandit and Chili trying to keep themselves together and not let their true feelings about moving out leak so the girls wouldn't get concerned, yet from time to time we could see their doubts and genuine sadness about it. it is until the very end when both finally break, Bandit feeling anger towards the sign as we can tell by his body language and expression, and Chili crying her eyes out in happiness. there's something really special about the facts it's _them_ the ones having the strongest emotional reactions at the end instead of Bluey and Bingo. (also something funny but even the fact Winton's dad had a pool was foreshadowed back in the episode _Helicopter_ in season 2 as he mentions it while playing with Bluey. it didn't play any relevant role in the episode back then, but it sure did a HUGE comeback in The Sign)
You've officially redeemed that episode for me. I've traveled all my life, and it's always been an exciting thing for me, so moving-angst episodes usually just confuse me. This video really makes me understand that episode, though, and I absolutely love it.
Blues has become so incredible of a show it’s amazing. It is not only beautiful, but it covers topics that other shows don’t even dare to discuss. And now they are adding these intricate details that make it thousands of times better.
This was such a beautiful episode, it’s gotta be my new favorite in the series Also, how Bingo was completely fine with moving until she heard Lila wasn’t coming with them absolutely destroyed me 😭
Moving away from friends doesn't really have the same impact it did before now that you can video chat and play online together instead of just having to rely on letters/calls and physical visits
@@Pokemaster-wg9gx I'm sure you weren't saying it the way you come off. But keep in mind Bingo is a child who doesn't have access to this type of technology since she is restricted to just the weekends to play on the tablet. So unfortunately she wouldn't be able to physically see Lila to play with her since it would likely be a lot of travelling distance from their city to the new city. Technology communications probably wouldn't work as well as physically being present to the friend for a child. Technology friendships work better for teens and adults, not so much for kids since they have to learn proper socialization in the real world instead of just the computer. As we know Bluey is not moving but you get the point.
I feel like this is going to be for a lot of kids what the movie Holes was for me when I was young - I remember how exciting it was, seeing all these different events setting up and connecting to one another and for the first time in my life, being able to point them out without anyone else explaining them to me. I can tell that's what the Bluey team was going for here and I really hope they succeed, I'd love to see a new generation of kids grow up with that memory
If you look at the comments section of bluey TikTok clips, you’ll see people who are clearly over 18. Many people in these comment sections are in college or late high school and mention how bluey helps them process things that happen in their life and even resolve past traumas. They love the show and love that it doesn’t resist talking about things like abandonment and miscarriages in a way children can find as just part of the show, but more mature viewers can fully understand in depth.
Another thing I noticed: the house that Winton’s dad and the terriers mom sell is Wintons house. We know this because of the episode “Helicopter” where when he’s about to fall out the helicopter he tell Bluey to drop him in his dads pool. Helicopter is another episode about accepting change and understanding when things don’t go your way.
Going back to the season 2 episode Daddy Drop Off, when Bingo met Lila (who then helped her save the caterpillar that turned into the butterfly), we saw another flash-forward montage of them growing up and graduating school together, so I knew that the Heelers weren't going to move once Bingo asked Chili if Lila was going with them. SO MANY CALL BACKS!
im gonna be absolutely honest with you guys. when I watched that scene where Bandit rips the sign from the ground and tosses it, the moment Chilli jumping at him crying.... I CRIED I EFFING CRIED AND THAT WASNT A LITTLE TEAR I WAS ABSOLUTELY WHINING ABOUT THIS MOMENT. THE STORY OF THAT EPISODE, WHOLE 3 SEASONS SPENT ON WATCHING THIS WITH MY YOUNGER SISTER, CHARACTERS REACTIONS AND MUSIC OH MY GOD THE MUSIC. I wasn't recovered from this episode till next episode "Surprise" even with happy ending by them staying in the house. please don't make fun of my reaction with this show I just love how it touches hard subject such as miscarriage (episode "the show") infertility (episode"Onesies"), and big changes like in this episode.
i think i view bluey as the internet-equivalent to thomas the tank engine/the railway series; before the 2000s the series very much appealed to kids but also tackled adult themes and real life events like death, the decommissioning of steam engines, the loss of a family member, etc. with top-tier music, stellar presentation and great writing. it's such good stuff.
I love that Winton actually says that his dad has a pool in Helicopter, so it's even hinted at so early on! This show's continuity is amazing and I love how the heelers and their friends actually feel like they live within a world, and not just a pastel void like Peppa Pig did back when I was a kid.
15:56 i think this scene recalls the episode where the girls played pizza delivery and bluey's uncle got a new car, and her aunt was sad they sold the car cause "we took the girls home from the hospital in that car"; i think the scene is paraleling that, the idea of "my daughter took her first steps in this house"
I'm 13, and i just finished 7th grade, I'm watching this in bed with my 4 year old brother while my dad is walking his dog. My brother is watching Bluey too, and as i'm writing this my dad started whistling the Bluey theme 😂 anyway, love the amazing storytelling of this great show and me and my parents (sort of) enjoy the deep meaning and brightness of this well thought out masterpiece that Bluey is.
I am a totally blind person, and I'm going to say this: The Sign is one of my favourite pieces of any media, not just tv, any, media, I have ever experienced. That goes for films, video games, tv, books, you name it, this is up there with my very, very favourite things ever.
I kinda liked how they didn't say what Bandit was upset about in the beach episode. So it felt like it could apply to ANY situation that made you upset.
Bro the amount of build up and perfect events that happened thought the entire show so far is insane. To think they referenced this episode as early as S2 E45, when Winton dropped the detail that his dad had a pool! If one little event didn't happen, then the Heelers would've moved away, and the status quo of Bluey would've been shaken and changed forever. 10/10 episode, hope to see this show get even better in the future
I also love how you can see how everyone making bluey genuinely cares about the show and how much effort is put into it. A lot of movies and tv series are just soulless cash grabs.
@@NoobTastic2763 A show I'd highly recommend watching is Fireman Sam, which is a British kids cartoon and is quite nice. I think you'll find that the stop motion series and the classic series is very enjoyable unlike the CGI series.
Soooo... I watched The Sign about two weeks after attending my grandma's funeral. I was already spoiled on what happened and what the plot was, but i knew i'd still get teary eyed at the end. I did not just teary eyed at the end. I was straight up bawling, the grief i was still holding spilling out of me. I was a mess bcuz i missed my grandma and it hit me that i might probably never go back to her home, my childhood home, bcuz they sold the house to afford her medical treatments. Im crying right now just typing this. The Sign now has a very special place in my heart bcuz at least these cartoon dogs will keep their home for a very long time 😭
I remember going into work (I was a teacher) and one of the PE teachers was talking about seeing a Bluey live show and how much fun it was, he bought t-shirts, mugs and plushies after the show. Those weren't for his kids, his kids said they didn't really want anything, he just bought all of it for himself, this man was in his mid 30s and it made me really happy to see that he just enjoyed something that was made for kids
how do people out there even survive?!? In Canada, 16 degrees is a nice day out. maybe a nice walk by the river. 30 degrees is def a good summer temperature but it’s more like uncomfortable hot for me lol!
@@roo.pzz4380 The people are used to the weather. Live long enough somewhere with radically different climate to your home country and you'll adapt to it, so long of course that you expose yourself to it often enough
Most shows for kids are made so they can be watched in pretty much any order and still make sense, so that you can just turn on a kids channel and entertain your kids. Bluey is made as a series, and the writer used that to add easter eggs and other stuff
Blue is an actual masterpiece of an animated show that we’ve had in YEARS. Watching in the eyes of my perspective of a teenager it really opens and broadens my eyes for parenting AND for children too. All the episodes have meaning to it.
This episode hit so hard to me mainly because growing up i was a military brat and if you dont know what that is i was the son of someone who was in the military so moving was common every vew years. My first time moving was when I was 7 as well, and i can wholeheartedly say these were the exact emotions i felt. The fact that i can relate to this so much made this special hit just too much harder and made me genuinely so happy when they didnt move.
I feel like they entirely missed the point by not moving. As a child, an episode where they move and make new friends would be way more helpful to you than an episode where at the last minute no one moves and everything stays the same. What could have been a helpful episode for kids like you, just turned into a weird thing that never happens in real life (the parents decide they aren't moving after the trucks are already loaded) another annoying point for kids worried about moving, they are going to think it won't happen at the last minute.
@captnshrms that is true. But I think the point of the episode or the message per se is that no matter what happens, things will happen. Whether they are good or bad, it will still be an adventure. ThT is how I coped with these emotions at the time. I mean, if it wasn't for my move, I would have never lived in Alaska, which is by far my favorite place I have ever lived.
@@blueboots4272 and I feel like that would be a much better episode, they move to Alaska and everything is better, and they make new friends etc... It just seems like the reverse of the Bluey I'm used to, which helps kids cope without lying to them. Things don't always go your way etc...
👁️👁️ in the Bluey shorts it’s confirmed bandit is indeed a Dr. Bandit Heeler, who happened to discover the first bones of two legged up right walking dogs 😂
He's the show's Indiana Jones! In the Yoga Ball episode, one of the girls says, "Can we play Raiders?" And... they recapture the Temple of Doom booby trap!
The reason I love this episode so much is because how it actually made me second guess myself and genuinely made me sad, i didn’t cry or anything but i was close to it and no other show has done that other than when I was like 5 and ash let his butterfree go lol. The emotional roller coaster of this epic was crazy as well. Usually in shows it’s just like, “ this is a kids show/movie it will be fine,” but in this episode there where moments where I believed that they where throwing away all the world building they had made for this show. So cg ludo studios for making such a wonderful episode.
As someone who doesn't watch Bluey, it was pretty interesting to see people treating this like Avengers Endgame, complete with people being intentionally vague when talking about the episode.
You mean being vague with breaking the *fourth wall?* And I wonder if the next serious matter will be the main characters having gotten their electricity from nuclear power!
I moved only once in my life when I was around that age and I was definitely the Bingo figure, I didn't mind at all and it took a few years for me to realize that I liked the old place better.
IIRC Bandit in Stickbird was said to be thinking of anything that troubles adults in life. The creator said it could be finances, workplace issues, or any other big issues. Joe even added a line about how putting something out in the world means its not necessarily yours anymore (which I think was a result of censorship or being told to change a scene or episode from how he was originally going to say it.) So my interpretation was that Bandit put something into the world, like a workplace discovery or paper, and someone else got the credit or the thing was ripped to shreds in talks. Though now it can be seen as him thinking about the job offer, before it most definitely felt like something else.
Bluey does just as much reminding me to be an active and present Dad as it does relating complex emotional topics to my 4.5 and 1.5 year old daughters.
2:56 gorgeous empty beaches like that are actually quite common in Australia because it's so sparsely populated and hundreds of thousands of gorgeous beaches
Reminds me of a classic russian show Smeshariki (Смешарики). The first few (and best in my opinion) seasons were just about several funny animal characters and their lives in their village. It was fun to watch for kids cus of the colours and shaps and stuff but man, it was extemely philosophical for adults. Nearly every episode had some complex themes and deeper meaning about life, dealing with depression, differences in relationships, growing old. A lot of sad themes now that i think about it... Fun for kids, philosophical for adults and scaring for teens. Loved it. I'd recommend looking into it and watching some popular clips. Hell, this had made me want to rewatch the entire thing. I might just do it
Wait, isn’t Bandit canonically an archaeologist? There’s even a short where he’s talking about the femur bone of a primitive cave dog, and they refer to him as “Dr. Bandit Heeler” in the short. 3:42 Edit: oh nvm
Between Steven Universe, Bluey, Adventure Time, Owl House, and other great shows, I've come to realize something: MLP Generation 4 trotted so that all of these shows and many more could GALLOP! Bluey was a big surprise for me, given its preschool cartoon status, and not just because it does not frustrate a grownup's mind. It doesn't treat the audience like idiots, which is a huge change of pace from how the typical preschool show is written. None of the shows I've name-dropped treat their audiences like idiots, but Bluey does an especially good job of it while also never forgetting who it is telling its stories to: kids and adults. I've only seen a few episodes while sitting in a dentist's office, to be clear. But, this video helped me to better understand the show.
It doesn't really come up in the show, but canonically Bandit is an archaeologist, and Chili works at airport security. In other words, Bandit digs up bones, and Chili is a drug-sniffing dog.
Paleontologists dig up bones. Archeologists explore ruins and stuff.
@@puglife658 No paleontologists dig up fossils. Also, archeologists do in fact dig up bones. Mainly human remains.

I personally thought chilli was an animator or artist if some kind. Because in the dragon episode the markers she uses are called copics and are a professional brand that only professionals would use
Ooooh that's why Bandit makes all the Indiana Jones references, that's freaking great
Fun fact: the name of the episode during production was called “We’ll See”. The episode is also a test basically to see if people would accept a longer format such as a movie. I can’t wait for a movie!
Given how popular and well received the special was, we might as well see longer episodes and a full length movie.
I have an idea for a Bluey movie.

Depending on your age, he probably has a Facebook or Instagram account
Bluey hooked me with one single clip, Jack having ADHD and his sibling being like, "Why can't you do what your told?!" and he just responds, "I don't know...." hit me like a truck like he wasn't angry or anything it was such a serious moment of confusion. Like god, having ADHD it's pretty much that for me with my friends. "You weren't paying attention were you?" in something like dungeons and dragon and i'm like, Sorry no I kinda zoned out a bit... and they just get a bit frustrated with me. Bluey is my comfort show for sure.
As somebody with ADHD I relate to this heavily

I feel about the same, for about the same reasons.
And it helps those of us without good rolemodels to do better for our babies
my gf and I both had unhappy childhoods and have strained or nonexistant relationships with our families. We absolutely love Bluey and have had trouble getting through season 1 because we cry every other episode if not every episode.
its 100% cathartic.
I think I've stopped watching Bluey in the last months exactly because of those strong feelings that come up in me while watching it
One other thing just from listening to this I noticed, they pointed out how 'pulling out the sign' means it isn't for sale anymore.
I had this exact experience with my family in real life it was so satisfying to see that sign out of our front garden
(The university was never named, but we're assuming its the University of Queensland, since the Heeler's live in Brisbane, Australia) And Chili is the Chief of Security at the local airport (Again, airport is never named but we're assuming its Brisbane Int'l)
According to google, the Average salary of a Education Director in Austrailia can range between 78k - 180k/yr, and the average salary of a Security Chief/Supervisor can range between 63k - 270k/yr.
So on the low end, the heeler's household income is anywhere around 141k/yr. The median household income for a family of 4 in Brisbane is 1791/wk, or 87k~/yr
So the heeler's are pretty well off, and they might be even more so if they are closer to the high end of the salary range in their respective fields.
@Cake_crybaby how tf can a child be on dumbass juice
i simply think that someone's sister made fun of her watching cartoons at the age of 10 is stupid
TH-cam why you delete my comment again
Technically, it's Bandit that saved their home. If he never winds up Bingo, then she might have never been friends with Lila

Queensland, they live in Queensland. Chilli said after Bluey said "is that allowed?" she said "Queensland Law (something something)" so yeah, Queensland

Bluey does this all over the place, it truely is a masterfully written animated series, one of the best in it's genre.
the garden is constantly changing, like in some episodes the pond is there and in others its not. i think its done with the shed too
oh grow up you manchild
So we might not be getting a season 4 for a long time. We will be getting mini 3.5 minute episodes and a possible movie. But the creator voiced his concerns with the child actors growing up and not wanting to leave them behind if the show moves forward, so if we do get a season 4 it might feature aged up version of the characters. That’s why The Sign and Surprise kind of feel like a series finale because it kind of is the end of series 1 and the start of series 2
And! “The surprise” ends in the future when (maybe bluey or bingo) has a kid!
I read in an article about Bluey. The shows creators said the show is not ending.
I mean having the characters grow with the cast then is just kinda a no brainer there lel
Imagine the child actors going through puberty leads to episodes tackling various parts of puberty and helping the younger viewers through it or preparing them for it so it isn't as stressful
Considering that some of the episodes do show aged versions of the characters, this could happen
@@taimelyad.2731 That was years ago, they stopped production in 2021 and are only doing the mini shorts for now and MAYBE the movie. We'll just have to see

But that's okay,
because it's all apart of growing up.
Good luck.

I mean if bluey went on for 30 more years I'm sure it will break continuity like that.
one thing i can absolutely praise bluey for is its maturity. i was so scared after all of those 2010s cartoon network shows ended that all of these new cartoons would just be nothing burger shows, with no real spirit or emotion in them. hell, even early spongebob had important life lessons, even for adults. its never to late to learn new things, especially things that can make life a little more tolerable and enjoyable. bluey is blowing expectations out of the water and into space. absolute masterpiece.

Did calloui mom ever worry about her parenting- she should have is one of the hardest lines
Right? this made me laugh harder then it should have
Seriously, Caillou is a little SHIT of a kid.
Remove the 1 and everything is fixed

another big important callback to Stickbird most people miss while watching the episode is the way Bandit rips the sign from the ground and throws it away in the same way Bluey taught him and Bingo to throw away what upsets them, it's even the same camera angle.
also another thing that separates Bluey from most family shows is how it allows the adults to actually express real emotions. through the entire episode we can notice both Bandit and Chili trying to keep themselves together and not let their true feelings about moving out leak so the girls wouldn't get concerned, yet from time to time we could see their doubts and genuine sadness about it. it is until the very end when both finally break, Bandit feeling anger towards the sign as we can tell by his body language and expression, and Chili crying her eyes out in happiness. there's something really special about the facts it's _them_ the ones having the strongest emotional reactions at the end instead of Bluey and Bingo.
This was such a beautiful episode, it’s gotta be my new favorite in the series
Also, how Bingo was completely fine with moving until she heard Lila wasn’t coming with them absolutely destroyed me 😭
that was so heartbreaking T_T
here all this time i thought she was just ok with it
Moving away from friends doesn't really have the same impact it did before now that you can video chat and play online together instead of just having to rely on letters/calls and physical visits
@@Pokemaster-wg9gxIt’s still not the same. There are some things you just can’t replace with a screen.
Bandit is such an are archeologist that he constantly references Indiana Jones with Raiders and the NO TICKET bit
Also Stripe caught the wedding bouquet and cheered as if he wanted to be the next person getting married…
That movie is absolutely iconic-and still enjoyable as an adult!
1:23 The mom couldn’t parent, so that’s why they never got to make that episode
That makes sense

I have never even seen Bluey or any video about Bluey until now and literally just you recapping emotional moments made me tear up a bit. Damn
i think i view bluey as the internet-equivalent to thomas the tank engine/the railway series; before the 2000s the series very much appealed to kids but also tackled adult themes and real life events like death, the decommissioning of steam engines, the loss of a family member, etc. with top-tier music, stellar presentation and great writing. it's such good stuff.
Good to know! I will try to find these cartoons!
@@tatianahantig It wasn't exactly a cartoon per se before the 2000s. It was made in live action with models and The Railway Series is a book series.
17:34 “This episode of Bluey is called: ‘Divorce’”
Nah... I think the geniuses at Ludo Studio will think of a more symbolic title for that, like how they did "Onesies" instead of "Infertility"
LOLL
@@kaz49It would be kinda funny if they did just flat out call it "Divorce", knowing this episode is gonna hit kids and parents like a truck
@ACloudyDay_MultifandomedSAME WHAT
Naur, I think it will be something like "Splits" or "Break"
So it felt like it could apply to ANY situation that made you upset.
the auto-captions wrote "Bluey blore" instead of bluey lore; we now have an official name for it (blore)
16:13 is anyone gonna talk about how Bluey’s headphones aren’t even on her ears?
That same thing is true for Arthur

I first watched the episode, and this scene had me like “wow this is soooo good… wait a minute”
I really did like this episode, I'm A lot older than the age demographic for this show and I still enjoy and genuinely find myself enjoying this show
And I guess I'm first too
I think a lot of the people that watch the show are older than the age demographic lol
Yep. I first watched it with my cousin 🙂
The Sign now has a very special place in my heart bcuz at least these cartoon dogs will keep their home for a very long time 😭
So sorry for your losses--your grandma and the house.
btw bandit is an archaeologist. You can see bones and stuff for that in his office a couple times
‘Shockingly empty beach’
That’s pretty much standard for any beach outside a major city in Australia, especially if it’s less than 30c.
how do people out there even survive?!? In Canada, 16 degrees is a nice day out. maybe a nice walk by the river. 30 degrees is def a good summer temperature but it’s more like uncomfortable hot for me lol!
Don’t forget, Bluey was made in Australia and Bluey takes place in Australia!
@@roo.pzz4380 The people are used to the weather. Live long enough somewhere with radically different climate to your home country and you'll adapt to it, so long of course that you expose yourself to it often enough

OMG the crunched "AUSTRALIA" after you said they call it a chemist absolutely destroyed me XD
@@captnshrms that is true.
@@captnshrms no it WOULDNT be a "better" episode, and im so glad they didnt go in that direction with the episode.
So cg ludo studios for making such a wonderful episode.
we have so many beaches here in aus that you're more than likely to be the only group on a beach (minus the major beaches like bondi etc.)
There are two things bandit could be thinking in stickbird. 1. Weight. 2. Moving.
All I can imagine now is MatPat just sitting straight up out of bed the second Foafy says "lore"
19:23 I love how the outro's in the style of Bluey, similar to his Mario confession video it was N64 themed.
I moved only once in my life when I was around that age and I was definitely the Bingo figure, I didn't mind at all and it took a few years for me to realize that I liked the old place better.
bluey fans when the cartoon dog gives the other cartoon dog a lollipop (it’s a message about sharing)
You had to know they weren't going to move because in the episode where Bingo met Lila, the ending montage showed Bingo and Lila growing up together
My brain has successfully shut down due to the lore of a children's cartoon
My 8yo after watching The Sign: "that made my eyes feel funny"
That could've actually been the moment he was like "I think I hate my job... Should I find somewhere else that I'd want to be?"
6:27 This is yet another reference to an earlier episode when Chili teaches them this game.
The consistency within Bluey is off the charts.
I might just do it
When i saw bandit tear the sign off the ground in the actual episode, i fucking “YEAAAH LETS GOOOOOOOOOOOOOO”-ed.
Their idea is the exact reason I watched Thomas, they didn’t talk down to their audience, and they treated things 100% seriously.
Thomas? The Tank Engine??
3:14 the way he turns to the camera like that looks like some creepypasta bro 😭
haha loll
Wait, isn’t Bandit canonically an archaeologist? There’s even a short where he’s talking about the femur bone of a primitive cave dog, and they refer to him as “Dr. Bandit Heeler” in the short. 3:42
Edit: oh nvm
You know it's a serious episode when chilli doesn't check in on the more emotional sides, and bandit doesn't take jokes
Don't forget that greeny the balloon returns. Even tho it did not pop after more than 30 episodes

The Sign made me start to ball out crying. It was so EMOTIONAL
Between Steven Universe, Bluey, Adventure Time, Owl House, and other great shows, I've come to realize something:
MLP Generation 4 trotted so that all of these shows and many more could GALLOP!
