As someone who has been flying a drone for years, this is the first video I've seen that is actually not just good, but excellent. I like the names you gave the shots, and it will help me when explaining to newer friends about certain movements.
Hi Tom, i am beginner level of drone skills. i used mini 1 for a while and now i have air 2. i watched many videos about drone shots but your content is more clear than others. many thanks for that. i have one question, what is the difference between unveiling and crane shot? with my regards.
This is by far one of the best tutorial videos on here. Well narrated, filmed and informative. Thank you! Oh, and great shots of Israel! You made my day!
I've been flying for about 6 months and have learned so much from your videos (which I began watching before I purchased). This video was awesome, and gives me some new ideas on how to make my videos look more professional. Thanks so much for all the time you put into this!!!
I just want to say thank you for all of your videos like this. You have really helped me improve my shots. I haven't had my drone long but your videos have definitely brought my filming skills a long way since starting.
Tom, this is so well done. Thank you for taking your valuable time to teach us these techniques. This was a great gift. When I look up and see that 150 people have given you a thumbs down, I wonder what world they are living in. The 7500 people who appreciate you are the ones who have their heads on straight. Thank you Tom ! We are enjoining your classes ! A hug from Brasilian people! You make the task of flying seem very easy. It's a new world to me. Thank you very much endeed !
Though I have already used most of these techniques both with a standard camera and with my dji P3S I appreciate the reminder and knowing I'm not alone with thinking these are great techniques. Thanks TTT!
This was a solid video Tom. Been looking for a good comprehensive collection of shots to apply with the drone. Just been applying what I know about cinematography and finding out shots by accident. Thank you so much for this video Tom.
Thanks SO much for this. Just starting out on TH-cam and am hoping to start using my Mavic Pro in some of my videos. This was really helpful and you have a great way of explaining things to camera. All the best.
Fantastic shots ! would you please tell us the gear u used ? I'm especially curious about the shorter depth-of field shots... maybe INspire 1 with X5 camera ? thanks
Dear Tom, you made a grate job, very VERY useful things you had noticed! Can you tell what sensitiveness and what gimbal settings do you suggest to use? Thanks a lot in advance
Very impressive and professional! I'm subscribing. I'm a 54 year old woman who loves making videos just for fun and just got the DJI Spark. I need all the help I can get. Thank you!
Very new to drone flying, been a very keen amature photographer for many years,, sold my Yuncee Breeze and I'm now waiting for delivery of my DJI Spark,, great video
Not just the cinematography, but the editing looks absolutely amazing! Would be nice if you could share some of the tools you used to edit the videos like the software, LUTs (if you used any, etc.). Cheers!
Wow! I have just bought the Mavis Pro and watched a ton of clips from all different ones. Some I have subscribed too. When I started watching this I thought, "'holly hell, he's on fast Forward"! I'm so pleased I kept watching...your videos and instruction are very helpful and your explanations clear. You too are now on my list, and I feel I will be visiting you a lot more. I particularly like that you also do post production videos etc too. Thank you!
Great video, Tom. It features 2 of my favorite places. Toronto, where I live, and Israel, where I've been and am going to again later this year. Thanks for the great tips.
Hey Tom, I own DJI P4 and I love watching your videos. Tutorials are really nice and smooth and it all goes step-by-step, so thumbs up and keep up with great work! Safe flying from croatia👋
Hi Tom, first of all ...GREAT work you do...I am a fan... I just have one question which seems odd to me...you do not seem to work so much with the inspire series for the film making, why? Is that due to shorter flight time or other ? Just wondering as i think the inspire series are great camera platforms ...
I got my DJI Mavic Mini about a month ago, only been out a few times because of bad weather but am trying my best. This is an excellent video, fantastic Tips 👏 😀 👌
LOVE your videos! Exactly what I wanted to improve my drone flying in my videos, and your new website is awesome! I just subscribed, keep up the great content Tom!
Hi Tom. Another great video. Can I ask u (and everyone) do you often control left and right joy stick and camera at the same time. or do you use intel mode to auto pilot and just focus on controlling the camera? what do people generally do?
Shalom Tom thank you for sharing. I am looking forward for more tips. I have been flying drones foe about two years now. I have a Yuneek Q500. I am considering the DJI inspire. Any suggestions would be welcome?
Great video again Tom. I have learned a lot from your video's, tutorials, and product reviews. All have been great and given me some really good ideas that I try and use when flying. Thanks for posting these!
I’m not a serious drone flyer (all I’ve ever used is a Hubsan X4 - essentially a toy - but I found this video to be very fascinating. Thank you. When I can afford to, I’ll get more into drone flying.
Hi Tom, I am impressed by your expertise! As a newbie in drone flying (I bought my Mavik one week ago) I am afraid of loosing my toy if I fly too far or too high and it seems to me that I shall never be able to shoot the kind of movies you show on this channel. Have you ever lost a drone in flying so high and so far? Do you have ant advice to share in this matter? Is htere any mean to know the GPS dat of the drone in case it is lot? Thank you for your assistance. Philippe Verdoni Paris - France
Hi Tom! It's Joe from Scottsdale Arizona. USA. I really enjoy your videos. I have a DJI phantom 3 pro and have done over 400 short videos or photos but I have not made one short movie or film. Why? because i don't know how to edit. Could you make a video showing a very basic editing process and what software you recommend? I have imovie and used it a few years ago and liked it, but it's changed. Could you do a how to edit for the First timer!! super simple? I think that would go great with your other videos. Thanks! Joe
Hi Joe, We are originally from Scottsdale (Carefree actually) and are usually in town a couple of times per year with our Inspire 1 V2. We'd be happy to link up with you in person and give you a quick, hands-on rundown in iMovie if you're still having some issues. If you have it figured out by now, awesome and no worries. Fly safe!
I live in the San Diego area but I'm in North Phoenix far north at least 7 times a year. I would love to meet up. Let me know the next time you are going to be in town. ( I love Carefree! ) and I'll drive over and meet you. I grew up there so all my friends and family are there. I've only been in California about 4 months. Thanks so much for the offer! Joe
Joe Glenn , Hi I Just saw your comment ! Did you Ever get a reply on how to Edit ? I've Never done it Either ! Been watching So many reviews, and would Love to Learn how the Process works ! Trying Every conceivable thing I can think of to buy my First Good Drone ! I would give up Everything I Own/have to get a Mavic Pro or the P4 Pro ! It's my Lifetime quest ! Tired of flying the $50.00 toys ! X5C'S and my X8C ! There are So many Levels to Explore, and Learn ! I Definitely Thirst for Knowledge ! Hope you have Learned some new things, Cheers ....
Hey Tom, I am a subscriber to your channel and love all of your videos. I was wondering if it is safe to bring my "phantom 4 pro" on the plane with me. I am using the original case, and wanted to know if the x-Ray was bad for the drone. Thanks!👍🏼
I would like to know which lut you used to create a color grade like the one you used in the desert. (Or how did you get such a look?) also did you use any filters for your drone?
I've only recently found your channel Tom and I can't say enough good things. I have my eye on the Mavic pro and will be paying attention to your tips. Just loved this clip, visually outstanding. I'm very keen to make every minute of time spent and every minute of drone footage count. Do you edit using a Mac by chance? I will be using Imovie i think and am interested in knowing more about export details. So often i see footage that looks as though once per second there is a frame missing or a stutter and I'm lead to believe this has something to do with ( A ) settings and ( B ) Exporting within the editing program. I'm in Australia and imagine that I'll need a 50Hz option and probably NTSC but will study your advice regarding frame rate, Shutter speed etc but Am still unsure as there are so many options.
Hi Tom, Thank you very much for the nice tutorial. It seems like you are from Israel. I am coming to Israel in June. I wonder if I really need to get the permits to fly my drone there? Is there anything I have to consider? Thank you very much.

Wow, thanks for the nice words. Have a lot of fun flying and filming, stay tuned and fly safe!
totally agree, I have learned a great deal.
Thanks Tom.
It's the difference between being a guy with a drone, and a cinematographer who happens to have a drone. Tom's my go-to for all drone stuff.
Harry Goodwin agree completely. Well worth watching!
I agree

This is super helpful! It's so fun to film with drones, but it can be so tough to make the footage fit "organically" in a project.
I just want to say thank you for all of your videos like this. You have really helped me improve my shots. I haven't had my drone long but your videos have definitely brought my filming skills a long way since starting.
I was thinking of purchasing a drone to supplement some of my underwater photography. You video here is amazing Tom, thoroughly impressed!

Great video - what controls are needed to do a head over shot - ascending with camera yaw
Fantastic shots ! would you please tell us the gear u used ? I'm especially curious about the shorter depth-of field shots... maybe INspire 1 with X5 camera ? thanks
This is such a great video! I think it is necessary to check flying conditions on apps like UAV Forecast or Weather by Tomorrow before flying.
Dear Tom, you made a grate job, very VERY useful things you had noticed! Can you tell what sensitiveness and what gimbal settings do you suggest to use? Thanks a lot in advance

Excellent video man. Which drone or drones were used to make this film.?
The DJI Spark also has tripod mode - well worth exploring; you can get awesome 1080 footage with this incredible machine.
Tom that has to be an x3/5 camera at 1:16 to handle flare that nicely? If not, very intrigued to know what it is! Great video and well explained.

Hey tom, I was wondering if you could do a video about our music in your videos.
