@Mastermind Teruteru Same! Abe is one of my favorite video game characters of all time, and I think he’s one of the most underrated video game protagonists. The bad endings of Abe’s Oddysee, Exodus and Munch’s Oddysee scared the shit out of me as a 13 year old. It also didn’t help that I was so used to playing lighthearted PS1 games like Crash and Spyro at the time, I wasn't prepared for Oddworld's dark and realistic cgi and uncanny character models (except for Abe and Munch). Not to mention the way our protagonists and their friends are exploited by the villains is very relevant to what’s happening right now.
I loved Munch's Oddysee. The function of creating warriors to fight for you and the levels were all very fun. I think it gets hate because it did something new, but the atmosphere/story/puzzle is all still there. If anyone here hasn't played Munch's Oddysee it's worth it.
I had Abe's Odysseus as a teen when it came out and always wondered what the ending was like as I could never finish it! Lol So glad to see this❤ Thank you.
I've never even heard of Oddworld until now, and as someone who loves dark comedy, I honestly don't know how I haven't found out about this series sooner!
It would be interesting if they applied these kinds of endings to other games. Like the ending of a Sonic game depending on how many Flickies you save/Badniks you beat, Or Pikmin and how many of them you keep alive.
Oh, by the way... Git... I just saw the bad ending to the remake of Abe's Exoddus, dubbed 'Oddworld: Soulstorm'... it not just kicks the original's bad ending to the curb... it'll engulfs it in flames with flammable liquid and spits on its ashes multiple times... it's just downright depressing. The only good thing is that Soulstorm Brewery is destroyed... but at what cost? And not just Abe and the Mudokons either... pretty much EVERYONE suffers! It is a complete catastrophe!
Damn, the Mudokans are ungrateful. They treat Abe with no respect despite saving them, then get drunk on and addicted to a drink made of their own bones and tears, and send him off to his death for the "audacity" of not saving every single one of them. Well, I just got to the ending of Soulstorm, and boy did it not disappoint! Sure the game was a little unstable, but the story was really good! HEAVY SPOILERS It's very similar to Exoddus, only the Muddokons end up burning their village in a panic, leading Abe to find out what's going on with the rest of them. And it's really terrifying. Unlike in Exoddus, Abe finds out that the Soulstorm withdrawl just straight up kills them in order to avoid an uprising. And believe it or not, Abe ends up learning something even worse, setting the rails for the next game in the five part reboot series... Just as long as Abe doesn't burn them down. You need to save 4/5ths of the Muddokons in most of the levels, lest you be subjected to one of the most tragic bad ends in Oddworld history. Abe tries to get help from a strange magic scarab when the Sligs try to destroy his train. But he'll need to save those Muddokons in order for him to shoot a magic lightning bolt towards the massive brewery to give his friends an opening. If he doesn't, Abe unwittingly kills it with dark quarma, making him mutter in guilt as he tries to keep the train moving. He spills the Soulstorm by accident, which catches on fire and sears his friends as well as himself to death. But it doesn't stop there. Since Soulstorm is even more flammable than vodka, the burning train blows it all up like an atom bomb. And since three Glukkon tycoons were in there too, guess what happens. It's the first Oddworld game where not even the bad guys benefit from Abe's failure. Even Molluck, who was trying to arrest and expose you, knows that the others will think him responsible. You can even see the look of defeat on his face as he says that there's gonna be nothing but outrage against him. Sure he's evil, but imagine being blamed for a terrorist attack. In his society, evil stuff is kind of the norm, but even then, there's a limit, which apparently even extends to killing sligs. By the way, he does that too. In other words, Abe didn't just fail the good guys, but he also caused even more death by pure accident. For example, since the pipelines are connected to other factories, they are destroyed too. Even the Muddokons who weren't caught in the fires are gonna go cold when they run out of brew. Put simply, we're screwed. So how do things end for Ol' Molly if you do get the Muddokons and sabotage the poison? Well, he finds out that the Brewmaster wants to label him responsible for the sabotage. So things still aren't very easy for him, but he at least gets to do something about it. What is that something? Assassinating him and the other tycoons, of course! He asks his Slig to kill them with the help of a few others, and they'll do it in return for a vacation to Yemen or whatever it's called. But he ends up saving Abe in the process. No one, save the Sligs and Molluck, will know Abe is still alive by the end, and they end up taking a vacation. Pretty awesome conclusion there.
the game doesn't hold your hand it lets the player choose if to save or to kill the mudokans but they dont tell you to save enough you just have to figure it out by yourself!
In my opinion, the freakiest part of that screen is the near silence, punctuated by these stagnant (?) occasional... NOISES that just leaves me really spooked and kinda wondering what the heq is going on outside the camera view.
"Then those glukkons told them that if they wanted to work, they could have all the brew they wanted! They fell for it." Goddamn it, that last part made me laugh more than it should have. It's just delivered so perfectly lol.
I am shocked and stoked that Oddworld was requested like this! This series was so fun. (Except for the way the saves worked in the first game, that was a wee bit frustrating.)
At least the third stayed true to the cutscenes, world and theme with the dark tone and cruelty instead of making it more friendly for kids since it's a 3D platformer
Didn't actually request this, but after a good time knowing about the Oddworld games bad endings, I expected (though didn't actively think about it) seeing these in CBE one day. (I'm half impressed about how this game was NOT in CBE before)
Now I still that xbox game Munch's Oddysee, and never knew about that two older Oddworld games. So I thought it was a decent game. My dad failed poorly in the game and the bad ending scared the shit out of me. So my sibling was playing it, I thought they would have the same, but they got a good ending.
It was, it was changed to looking like a cartoonish ice lolly/popsicle. This was due to a murder incident in Japan at the time. The Japanese design for the Mudokon Pops was then used internationally in all versions of Abe's Exoddus and New ''N'' Tasty
ok so yearrrsss ago i used to play this i was young and uhm it got deleted off my console. YEARS LATER I FIND IT AND IM SO HAPPY!!! I REMEMBER HIM IN THAT JAIL THING LOL
This video makes me rethink my childhood,i first played these games when i was 6. And im glad i never finished them now or i wouldve been scared for life LOL
I really love this type of game overs, the one that tells you WHY you should try again, kick you in the head for how bad you screwed up, and are not afraid of dissing you while doing it.
So, a summary of the bad ending of the last game. The fluffles, or whatever they are called, revolt against Abe and Munch, who didn't save them. Abe and Munch are mauled, but Munch is not killed, and Abe's head, with the title "Loser," is hung on the wall after he is dead. Later, Munch is dissecteted, while concious, for his lungs, and is killed in the process. What the actual h*ck.
0:27 -- Well hello to you too. How mudokon-izing. 12:17 -- You too. 8:15 -- Knock him in the head! 9:22 -- Get away from him, he's a mudokon! 11:01 -- Oh, now you did it again. Buncha' losers. 12:41 -- "I'm sorry, I did not see you there." 17:35 -- Don't even say it, Don't even say it, DON'T EVEN SAY IT, DON'T-- 17:37 -- Now you scream like a damn girl! 22:24 -- "Hello." 24:20 -- Yeah, watch when it happens where the fuzzles gets mad. 24:51 -- "You're too late, you sons of bitches." 25:14 -- Aaaand, Abe's a loser. 25:40 -- Does anything if Vykkers look bad to you? 25:42 -- Yep, you're getting fucked. 25:44 -- You. Are. Really. Fucked. 25:49 -- "Surprise!"
I played Oddyssey and Exoddus to death as a kid. I never went near Munch's when it came out and I'm glad I didn't. I still to this day never understood why they changed a winning formula. The first two games were so immersive, artistic and beautiful. I was sad to see they couldn't make the third installment equally as iconic.
im playing exodus and i noticed that when abe dies he turn to birds but when i go back to a checkpoint he dont turn back from birds we just go back to the checkpoint and abe is standing there or etc so maybe he not survived the tear extractor
I thought nothing could compare to certain Visual Novels, when it comes to dark and unsettling stuff. I WAS WRONG! That was just ..... words cannot describe :(
God, these endings that Oddworld gave out is pure terrifying and sad to be honest. The mudokons have betrayed Abe and let him get killed. Munch got his lungs taken and also getting killed when he is still conscious. Welp, you better save those mudokons and fuzzles if you don't wanted that.
That was disturbingly great video. I'm not sure you do requests or not but I was wondering if you have ever played Tales of Xillia 2. I bring this up because this game has three endings; Good, Normal, and of course the bad one
The bit at the bottom of the newspaper in Munch's Oddysee only appears if you have 10%< Quarma, and more is added to the good ending if you have >90% Quarma.
I like how the first game gives you a hard limit of 50 Mudokons to save but it's totally fine if you save, like, 51. They know you're gonna troll and kill at least SOME of them.
Seeing footage of the first game is so nostalgic for me... I used to play it when I was a kid! Well... I was terrible at it so I always ended up getting dad to do it for me, but STILL...!
13:40 Is this an alcoholism joke? It's like they put a bunch of adults to work for alcohol! (You know, Whiskey, Rom, Martini, Vodka, Beer, Moonshine, etc.)
i was ten when i first played much's odyssey and i didn't know you had to free the fuzzy boi's so i left them. I got the bad ending and i had nightmares for 3 weeks... i also pissed myself

The second bad ending would've been better if they had reduced Abe to a skeleton, carrying the "Abe becoming what he was trying to avoid" effect.

If you decide to KILL all of the mudokens you get a different message
Cotton Pop no! 11:11
I never requested this...but I literally screamed "FINALLY!!!" when I saw this in my notifications.
"Then those glukkons told them that if they wanted to work, they could have all the brew they wanted! They fell for it." Goddamn it, that last part made me laugh more than it should have. It's just delivered so perfectly lol.
Why did the "pump it up" line remind me of Dedede from Kirby Right Back At Ya?
Right back at ya buckaroo
timestamp?
*Sees Abe in thumbnail*
My MAN!
Just imagine how the bad ending for Soulstorm will go.
9:52 *SENTRY DOWN!*
I don't get it.
When Abe bursts into a flock of birds, he makes the same noise as a Sentry being destroyed from TF2
Oh, ok.
Dang, I totally hear it
Stupid bloody spies!
Yikes! Thankfully, I never saw the bad ending for Munch's Oddysee when I played through it. I always kept my quarma in check.
13:14 "Abe you're just the greatest!" "...okay?"
Honestly that's how I am when I receive compliments as well...
I don't really know much about the odd world series, but my god was that last ending terrifying!
God this game deserves a golden award on its bad ending
These 3 games are based on reality. The first company is McDonald’s, second is Coca Cola, the third is human trafficking.
It’s still amazing how these games are so messed up but fun at the same time I enjoy Abe’s odd world but the endings are messed up
Didn't actually request this, but after a good time knowing about the Oddworld games bad endings, I expected (though didn't actively think about it) seeing these in CBE one day. (I'm half impressed about how this game was NOT in CBE before)
15:00 So, this is where South Park: The stick of truth got the inspiration.
Now I still that xbox game Munch's Oddysee, and never knew about that two older Oddworld games. So I thought it was a decent game.
My dad failed poorly in the game and the bad ending scared the shit out of me. So my sibling was playing it, I thought they would have the same, but they got a good ending.
You are very correct about Stranger's Wrath. it only has one ending.
Abe and Munch - Cute
Glukkons - meh
Fuzzles - KILL IT KILL IIIT!!!
2:19 I've read on the internet that that scene with the Mudokon's head on a spear was altered in Japan.
It was, it was changed to looking like a cartoonish ice lolly/popsicle. This was due to a murder incident in Japan at the time. The Japanese design for the Mudokon Pops was then used internationally in all versions of Abe's Exoddus and New ''N'' Tasty
The feeling when your childhood's hero is being turned into a minced meat.
I saw so many requests for this and was actually just creeped out by the games myself. So glad you're gonna show these =D
ok so yearrrsss ago i used to play this i was young and uhm it got deleted off my console. YEARS LATER I FIND IT AND IM SO HAPPY!!! I REMEMBER HIM IN THAT JAIL THING LOL
This is the kind of thing you would see in Eiffel’s Blue music video.
This video makes me rethink my childhood,i first played these games when i was 6. And im glad i never finished them now or i wouldve been scared for life LOL
Maybe that may have been a blessing in disguise
I really love this type of game overs, the one that tells you WHY you should try again, kick you in the head for how bad you screwed up, and are not afraid of dissing you while doing it.
So, a summary of the bad ending of the last game. The fluffles, or whatever they are called, revolt against Abe and Munch, who didn't save them. Abe and Munch are mauled, but Munch is not killed, and Abe's head, with the title "Loser," is hung on the wall after he is dead. Later, Munch is dissecteted, while concious, for his lungs, and is killed in the process.
What the actual h*ck.
"Hello"
"Hello"
"Follow me"
"Ok"
....That was me at school when somebody was coming to me and try to make friends with me xD
0:27 -- Well hello to you too. How mudokon-izing.
12:17 -- You too.
8:15 -- Knock him in the head!
9:22 -- Get away from him, he's a mudokon!
11:01 -- Oh, now you did it again. Buncha' losers.
12:41 -- "I'm sorry, I did not see you there."
17:35 -- Don't even say it, Don't even say it, DON'T EVEN SAY IT, DON'T--
17:37 -- Now you scream like a damn girl!
22:24 -- "Hello."
24:20 -- Yeah, watch when it happens where the fuzzles gets mad.
24:51 -- "You're too late, you sons of bitches."
25:14 -- Aaaand, Abe's a loser.
25:40 -- Does anything if Vykkers look bad to you?
25:42 -- Yep, you're getting fucked.
25:44 -- You. Are. Really. Fucked.
25:49 -- "Surprise!"
Huh, a video now? Wierd...
We have been blessed by git
Abe’s mouth being stitched closed makes me extremely uncomfortable
After so many years, Abe is making his comeback.
Now this is how you make the main protagonist in a game die! Not that bullshit that happened to Sonic in 06!
Abe sounds like Butters
Why is the title creepy video game endings when the intro sounds so scary
Does anybody else remember the song by Music Instructor feat Abe?
Well.....
GET FREAKY
I had this game when i was little..i was afraid of that monsters on the screen so i stopped to play it
im playing exodus and i noticed that when abe dies he turn to birds but when i go back to a checkpoint he dont turn back from birds
we just go back to the checkpoint and abe is standing there or etc
so maybe he not survived the tear extractor
The fuzzles are creepy looking but adorable at the same time.
I thought nothing could compare to certain Visual Novels, when it comes to dark and unsettling stuff.
I WAS WRONG!
That was just ..... words cannot describe :(
6:54 when you mess with the quiet kid
God, these endings that Oddworld gave out is pure terrifying and sad to be honest.
The mudokons have betrayed Abe and let him get killed. Munch got his lungs taken and also getting killed when he is still conscious.
Welp, you better save those mudokons and fuzzles if you don't wanted that.
I should have known this game series would eventually come up.
Anyone here know that they’re releasing Munch’s Oddysee on Nintendo Switch now?
I wish games had more bad endings
I know it does feel like an interesting take on the what if scenario even if 9 times out of 10
bad endings are non canon
That was disturbingly great video. I'm not sure you do requests or not but I was wondering if you have ever played Tales of Xillia 2. I bring this up because this game has three endings; Good, Normal, and of course the bad one
If there's one thing I can say about the bad endings in the Oddworld games, it's that they make sure you KNOW you messed up!
3 years later oddworld soulstorm was released
Mountain dew is like Soul Storm to me
Its addictive
Seeing footage of the first game is so nostalgic for me... I used to play it when I was a kid! Well... I was terrible at it so I always ended up getting dad to do it for me, but STILL...!
These games... these games were my childhood. I still play them even today. I love them to death
The mudokons are so God damn cute !!!
When I see Abe smile, I just wanna hug him!
As funny as this game is, it really is awesome and has such a badass steampunk aesthetic!
*The real creepy thing is that they didn't work on their new and improved fabric softener!*
I got the bad ending and i had nightmares for 3 weeks... i also pissed myself
great video man thanks
