In the movie, the uncle's assistant was the main villain, so it is surprising that they made him look so creepy in this game but made him one of the few good guys
About the ending with Alex telling his nightmare about your character becoming a demon, a theory (and tv trope) says that, actually, you're the evil twin
I personally always took the ending as Ixona casting some shorter, easier spell that'd turn you into a demon, instead of you being the evil twin all along. The story that comes in the instruction manual (which some could argue may not be canon, since it includes this other plot about the evil twin wanting to make a zombie army or something) makes it VERY clear your brother was the evil one. To be fair, though, Ixona does call you the "cursed one" if you forget to equip the right items, but she also calls you the "spirit of the last", which is what the Good Twin coffin has, too. So, really, who knows.
@@bobosmith101 I feel like it's more of a metaphor. Alex imagining you turning into a demon means that she started the evil twin curse with you, intentionally or not.
Imagine fighting your insane brother in the docks of London, having no-one help you fight him (as they are trying to kill your twin brother - you both look alike, how would they know?) and with him having the urge to slit his brother's throat just to clear his tracks. I'd shit myself. Anyone would.

The following image is pretty powerful (emotionally, not gory) and really makes you feel like an idiot for screwing up at the last second of your mission.
I remember there is another image just before the text, with the witch on top of a cliff performing the curse ritual, probably what I meant when I posted that comment. I watched a longplay of Waxworks one time. Pretty gory and disturbing even by today's standards. And yes, I know all about how they removed all the Nazi propaganda but left that in. I've watched the death scenes in Waxworks several times, however. I must now be a very desensitized potential serial killer. :)
I'm disappointed with Jack the Ripper. 1) He doesn't chase the player throughout the level 2) The death he gives you is ok for an average killer, but in Jack the Ripper scale is like he didn't even try or was on a deadline

Does anyone mind describing to me the "mine death" and "jack the ripper death"? I'm a little scared of actually seeing it, but hearing what it is wouldn't bother me
I've seen every death this game has to offer In the Jack the Ripper death, Your character has his throat cut open and has his mouth opened to scream but is well.... Dead. The Mine deaths on the other hand are indeed Nasty, From having your characters face melted by acid having half his eye burned out, To being crushed by loads of rocks having his brains splashed in.
lime dude you know what tell me how it happens i dont want to know what they look in person. and i mean all the deaths. ill prepare myself and get a bucket if its to disturbing to hear.
***** well, it's not that disturbing, and in most death scenes it uses the same "death" scene but modified, and the zombie death screen shows the guy with multiple parts of it's body ripped off and I think some guts too.
***** I also watched them. Some are indeed disgusting (like the character falling into spikes and one of the spikes passes through his eye), others sound ok but are pretty creepy (those in the mines are the worst imo) and some are not frightening at all (like the one where you open the rigthmost coffin and two hands grab you and drag you in the coffin). The one that distrubed me the most are the ones in the mines and the one if you die to Jack the Ripper.
I looked up the game over screens. Why did I do that? That Tongue Mutant game over screen is THE MOST disgusting thing I've ever seen in ANY video game.
Why in my right mind do I imagine an R-rated, Waxworks Movie...? It seems Live-A-Live and Undertale are no longer the only games that have wildly affected my brain.
i confirme the game over are dark : not only it looks incredibly painful, but the heros has style his eyes opened ! so you don't know if he is style alive or stil agonising !
Funny coincidence. You wrote you didn't know about Waxworks back in the day. To me it's oposite - this is actually one of the first games I ever played on Amiga, alongside Monkey Island 1 & 2. Heh, imagine the contrast between this and Monkey Island :D. Elvira 2 is another one, which I think even has creepier atmosphere than Waxworks, thanks to its awesome music. All of the mentioned games are still retro-favorites that I take out for a play every once in a while.
Wait, if your character is related to Jack the Ripper and is apparently of Egyptian descent, then that means Jack is part Egyptian! Really weird if you think about it (although the ripper was never truly identified, so i guess it could make sense)
I think the ending's implying you became the evil twin rather than your brother, and now you're going to commit horrible acts in his stead. When you think about it, to an extent, you actually kinda deserve it, as you did cause someone to undergo intense pain and then murder her because she was going to retaliate for having her hand cut off. Pretty brutal no matter what way you look at it :1
Back when I first watched this some time ago, I saw the comments about the endings and how I shouldn't look them up. ... I still haven't seen them, even now in 2020. Yet I find myself becoming increasingly curious about the screens....eh. I wonder how they look?
Since the graphics level is older because it's from DOS/Amiga, and each game over is a still image (save for 1 death in the mines) they're not the worst imo. They're generally gorier than they could be, however, and especially in the mines/London stages, your character will appear to be screaming. The Egypt stage has trap deaths, a crushing death, and 2 animal deaths. The London stage has a hanging death, mobbing death, and slit-throat death (which barely shows much being cut open, let alone blood for that matter). The graveyard is the most gruesome, with zombies ripping you apart (and the music accompanying it is the most creepy if you ask me). They also have death by old age via rapid aging magic, being choked out by a ghost(?) and stuffed into a coffin, and being drained of life by a vampire. Finally, the mines - they may be as gruesome as the graveyard's deaths. You can die from noxious gas, infections by alien-looking plant monsters attacking you, clawed to death by the same enemies, impaled by a plant under their control that explodes thorns, getting run over by a mine cart, and getting crushed to death if you prime the explosives but don't leave the mine fast enough. The animated one is your character's head and arm being ripped off by tentacle-vines. There's a lot of eye and skin gore in that area. The last game over by the witch is pretty neat too, they show your ancestors chopping her head off before she curses your family on a cliff with the red sky behind her. Hope that satisfies your curiosity! :P If not, I'm writing descriptions based on this video.: th-cam.com/video/axqRgDkWXA0/w-d-xo.html
When I was like 12 and first saw these they scared the living shit out of me. It's more uncanny valley and staring at someone who's dead. The guy's eyes are open and glassy, and so is his mouth. He's expressionless, and all life seems to be drained from him. It scared me pretty bad.
@@keisharobinson6602 bro that zombie death looked like the aftermath of a mk fatality (except even more terrifying cuz it somehow looks more realistic). I remember finding the zombie death on a Wikipedia article of the game, and I was in pure shock.
I used to be scared of fighting enemies in general as a little kid. Even old games freaked me out. The Immortal may want a word with this game in what death scenes mean. Well, the difference between this and The Immortal is that even the death scenes for enemies are brutal.

Fate/Stay Night and other Visual Novels have pretty hard bad endings too... One of the early is being braintransplanted into a doll after being flung away by berserker and having a broken back.
I thought the Game Over Screens weren't going to be that bad, so I was going to view them. But the comments have given me second thoughts... I think I'll pass.
+Supermegurwolf One of them from the graveyard level shows your character laying on the ground, with their organs exposed and lying on the ground, and (If i can remember it fully) his throat bit open, along with other marks on the body.
Super Megur And the one with the grave yard if you die with the immortal witch guy you are going to get really old. London game over screen isn't as bad but still gruesome. What, you want to know the pyramid deaths? Ugh okay, One death shows your body without your head, one shows you getting crushed by a Boulder, one shows you getting crushed, and more. Trust me you do not want to see them unless you have balls to see them (Yes I have seen them because well........ I am use to seeing some weird and disturbing stuff). And yea the zombie one........ Well let me put it in simple details in that you are going to see the most disgusting and disturbing death in gaming history. If you can go through all that (Like me) then congratulations nothing game disturb you unless there's waxworks 2. Sorry if I made mistakes. Oh yea and the Cave one, Ahem well you are going to get into a infested skin situation if any of those mutants touch you and the vines well ummmmmm it rips your head off.
Hey, whoisthisgit, I don't know if you take suggestions from viewers on games to feature, but have you ever played or heard of *The Stanley Parable*? I know this game has a boatload of endings, but there a few that are a bit depressing, scary, or even morbid. I guess it depends on they kind of person you are, but a few really gave me some strong chills!
Sorry whoisthisgit but Splatterhouse 3's Jennifer's transformations was more gruesome/scarier than Waxworks. Closest that Waxworks got to it would have to be when in the mines the guy got shot with thorns or the vines.
I'm glad you didn't include the death scenes… Not because of me being affected, but you thought of everyone else. I was curious enough to look them up. I wasn't actually too grossed out or scared, some of them were copypasted and looked too goofy… Including the zombie one, because the intestines looked like tubes to me. :P Only one of the plant-related ones made me cringe like "ew"… Maybe I just have a strong enough stomach by now, I dunno. But thanks for introducing this to more people, I kinda like this game now.
I think this is one of the most criminally underrated games out there. As disturbing as it is, it also feels (vaguely) like the game is laughing at you once you die with the music it plays. The deaths in the mines definitely got to me the most out of all of them, though.
Wow, you weren't kidding about those deaths. For those wondering, when the vines rip your character apart, it's animated.

I'd basically like to hear about the most terrifying ones
+I am a sea lion and especially the "right chest"
I've seen every death this game has to offer
In the Jack the Ripper death, Your character has his throat cut open and has his mouth opened to scream but is well.... Dead.
The Mine deaths on the other hand are indeed Nasty, From having your characters face melted by acid having half his eye burned out, To being crushed by loads of rocks having his brains splashed in.
Theres also the one where you get brutally dismemberd
Tha Jack the ripper death is just your character with a cut neck.
This game is probably the most interesting games I’ve seen
Thankfully, I'm too busy watching git's other videos to bother myself with the deaths, but it is tempting.
Good. Don't.
BE VERY GLAD YOU ARENT LOOKING AT THE DEATHS. THEY'RE SOMETHING I CANT UNSEE
Shall you watch'em, those images will be part of you for a long, long time...
Better don't .
So, so very temping.
I’m gonna watch them eventually so I know my poison when I dare someone to watch one.

I"M ALREADY SCARED, I"M MOVING ON
Man, if you think the game over scenes are brutal and gruesome, you should see the witch's death at the end. It's just as gruesome.
Meanwhile, Anubis: "Blasphemy! I am a god of truth and justice! I will brand your hides and bite your heads off!"
It's about time I saw the game that made me learn about human anatomy up here.
This series is kick ass awesome
waxworks must of had pretty disturbing deaths if you didn't show them.
I was one of the people who went and looked them up afterwards... Pretty disturbing...
James S the zombie death was disgusting
lime dude you know what tell me how it happens i dont want to know what they look in person.
and i mean all the deaths.
ill prepare myself and get a bucket if its to disturbing to hear.
***** I wasn't really all too scared or nauseated from the graveyard deaths. I'm just more sensitive to outer-body horrors than exposed guts. I dunno.
Thepenguinking2 the gas one is the worst one yet
+Thepenguinking2 The zombie death is THE worst death scene in ANY game in my mind... o-o
You know what's scarier that ALL of those game-overs in Waxworks combined? The Basement Face-Off (2-4)
@@amongblox_usa **mimimimi intensifies**
Why in my right mind do I imagine an R-rated, Waxworks Movie...?
It seems Live-A-Live and Undertale are no longer the only games that have wildly affected my brain.
This video is awesome imo, you all brought us here to this game
i confirme the game over are dark : not only it looks incredibly painful, but the heros has style his eyes opened ! so you don't know if he is style alive or stil agonising !
No, can't say I thought the necromancer's death would be that funny for such a gruesome game.
got curious and looked up game over screens
oh well i didnt need sleep anyway lol
I think that the mine one is the most ominous, the tune for it makes it more interesting
*Looks up the Game Overs*
Ooh, detailed.
Yeah...
I ain’t looking up those game over screens
I think the ending's implying you became the evil twin rather than your brother, and now you're going to commit horrible acts in his stead. When you think about it, to an extent, you actually kinda deserve it, as you did cause someone to undergo intense pain and then murder her because she was going to retaliate for having her hand cut off. Pretty brutal no matter what way you look at it :1

Protagonist: Pooooke!
Protagonist Wins!
*BABALITY*
I FINALLY GET TO KNOW THE OUTRO MUSIC :DDD
I SAW THOSE GAME OVER SCREENS. HOLY CRAP!
Bout to search the game over screens up, wish me luck
I’ll never sleep again
I used to be scared of fighting enemies in general as a little kid. Even old games freaked me out. If I was told to play this game, piled with me freaking out from not knowing what to do, the creepy music, the creepy graphics, and walking back to a death scene after running away from the computer, I would piss myself and wouldnt have slept for months
all game overs and how to get them
egypt: head off= lose any fight in egypt, crushed by rubble= trip certain tripwires, sliced by blades= trip certain tripwires, lying in a bed of spikes= fail the number puzzle, the water puzzle, or the tile puzzle, eaten by a crocodile= trying to collect water before killing the crocodile, lying with legs sticking out of darkness= get caught by a boulder, lying with legs sticking through doorway= knocking down a prop whilst standing in the doorway, lying with 2 arrows stuck in you= stepping on the pressure plate that activates the arrow trap, lying in a pile of fog= fog reaching height before destroying mirror, eaten by snakes= collecting tile without setting area on fire
london: neck hanging from noose= getting close to a policeman, blowing the whistle and not getting out of the area or entering the pub without a disguise, lying surrounded by people=get caught by the angry mob, sporting a slashed throat= killed by jack the ripper.
graveyard: covered in claw marks and innards ripped out= dying to a zombie. tooth marks in neck= not staking the vampire quick enough or staking him with a blunt stake, lying in a coffin like the others are= looking in the coffin that says "the last", lying on the floor all wrinkly= dying to vladimir.
mine: face covered in acid= dying to certain mutants, face covered with skin problems= dying to certain mutants or the master plant itself, face covered in claw marks= dying to certain mutants, innards coming out of your mouth= getting close to certain pods or entering the fight against the master plant without wearing the gas mask, spikes in your face= getting close to certain pods, lying underneath a minecart= getting caught by the minecart, lying underneath a pile of rubble= blowing up the mine without getting out first
last one: dark screen with red text "you have failed. you have not prevented the witch from casting her wicked curse. your family is cursed forever. every generation that has the misfortune to bear twins will be affected by the witchs words. your twin brother is doomed to serve beelzebub forever"= not wearing anubis pendant, using the items in the incorrect order, or not using them quick enough
i forgot to metion the vine one which is actually a cutscene
vines around neck and left hand side pull them off of body=not destroying the vines quick enough
Seen legs sticking out of darkness, and being crushed under pile of rubble
“covered in claw marks and innards ripped out”
correction: covered in claw marks and innards, lower jaw and eye ripped out
damn where is sherlock holmes on london chapter
Crysta YT
What if you are him?
Elvira 1 and 2, made by same company, had very gruesome game overs as well, and Elvira 1 had very scary music.
*sees what the game is and thinks about the deaths in a video he saw as a child* no no no no nope nope NO not again
I've watched the game over screens and I must admit some of them was scary but nothing is more scary than the scene in Splatterhouse 3 the turned into whatever
My forth favourite game of all time. Alex's dream reveals that you were the evil twin all along, which is why you had to go back in time to stop all the evil twins, as the items would have affected you had you not "purified" them.
Did he ever do "I have no mouth and I must scream"? That's a shoo-in on this list.
Nice video, i must thank you for making all that videos especially that Fire Emblem ones, I firstly saw FE in your channel and now im a big fan of you and FE ;). (Sorry if i didnt write it right but i dont know English very well beacuse im from Poland.)
“Something about the way his head moves when he bites you really creeps me out.” same here.
The second I saw what the mutants and such inside of the mines waxwork were, I thought of The Flood, from Halo.
6:37 wait,jack the ripper?That reminds me something...
Even though I've seen so much crazy shit over many years, I think I'll wait until I think I'm ready to see the screens. For now, I'll just pass on and not worry about it until I feel completely curious. A video game is not worth getting unnecessary nightmares that'll last 3 days. I have better things to do in life anyway. Thank you for helping out.
This actually reminds me of Sweet Home (the game) in a few respects.
Oh, I saw gameplay of that online randomly while listening to vgm's.
The Immortal may want a word with this game in what death scenes mean.
Well, the difference between this and The Immortal is that even the death scenes for enemies are brutal.

M Hinges Ha! Jokes on you, I'm on mobile!
No game overs, i ain't joining
i wanna meet the person who programmed and made the deaths because some are actually pretty gruesome and i cant imagine doing that stuff myself. truly brave people.
Fate/Stay Night and other Visual Novels have pretty hard bad endings too... One of the early is being braintransplanted into a doll after being flung away by berserker and having a broken back.
3:17 That was exactly what I was thinking.
Anybody else listen to classical music with the screen scrolled down, pausing every few seconds to read Git's narration?
17:23 ehm... ive got nothing to say about that creepy smile
I thought the Game Over Screens weren't going to be that bad, so I was going to view them. But the comments have given me second thoughts... I think I'll pass.
Trust me, you dont wanna see it
O.O ...
Maybe, like, one picture. Then I'll decide if I should view the others depending on how creepy it is...
+Supermegurwolf One of them from the graveyard level shows your character laying on the ground, with their organs exposed and lying on the ground, and (If i can remember it fully) his throat bit open, along with other marks on the body.
MegaRaichu81 -Gage Graham- Oh.
The mine stage is the most horrific to me, so many death scenes and all so very brutal and disturbing (also those scary human-plant mutants Dx)
Flaky Navarro same here, I guess in order of creepiness I’d have to say egypt>london>graveyard>mine
Hey dude, i just wanted to say that your videos are awesome! Keep 'em coming.
13:29 I DEFINITELY didn't want to hear that 0_0 (It's actually "see that" but you get what I mean)
Only one of the plant-related ones made me cringe like "ew"… Maybe I just have a strong enough stomach by now, I dunno.
