All in all I do enjoy game's with twist endings like this, especially when it kind of was foreshadowed in trusting a sick jerkass genius fuck like in the Twisted Metal series like Calypso who creates games of murder with the deaths of innocence just to amuse himself with the murder and killing just for him to twist the biggest murderer's wish to watch them in despair as all they fought for was for nothing, I think there were a few times where Calypso's own behavior backfired on him, but those game's that had it always had him back in charge for the next game sooo....

I think to me, the VLO ending is the scariest to me. Just imagine being the only country on an entire planet of water? No other kinds of people, no new experiences, nothing. It's just you, your island, and your people forever.... at least until you run out of food or resources or something and you eventually die off. It's a scary thought.
Looks like all but two of these teams were... (puts on shades)... out of their depth. While it only has one ending that could be considered a 'Creepy Bad Ending', this focus on explosive vehicular combat games with the majority of the factions being evil (or at least unsympathetic jerks) makes me wonder if you've ever tried Battletanx or its sequel, Global Assault. One of my favorites for sure.
Hey Git, I agree with the "mass-death cult" thing. It's kind of annoying they always do that shit instead of something more reasonably sound, like better yourself through your will, find new ways to commune with the other side, being a better person, or dancing as you mentioned.
I just gotta say, i'm so glad I found your channel. I am also intrigued when games do bad endings, especially if they're a result of the player making thoughtless decisions. I enjoy game overs in general, but I wish more went in depth into what happens after the hero is killed, or defeated (i'm also usually too cowardly to get a bad ending on purpose as well). You got me into a lot of my favourite games too. You got me into the older Fire Emblem titles, as well as Ace Attorney and Advance Wars. You're one of the few people on TH-cam, whose content I watch in it's entirety. I never miss one of your videos.

I guess if you wanted to recreate the vocal effect in Audacity I'd suggest using the original vocal and duplicating it twice so that you get three audio tracks. One would have heavy modulation (chorus or flanger it sounds like, it's a bit hard to tell because of the heavy reverb and pitch shifting), and one would be pitch-shifted down by 5 or 12 semitones. After that, different levels of reverb on each track (with the modulated track getting the most reverb). Then, started mixing until it sounds right. You'd probably get something cool at least if you tried that.
I saw it not as the aliens being stupid and simply misunderstanding, but being so smart as to not care about the fate of their discoverers, doing whatever they felt like with them to show them who's truly superior.

That gave me a thought... what if Calypso did meet someone like Joe Skellion, who is not shackled by greed, hate, or desire, who was satisfied at the end, so much so that, when he is offered the wish, he says his wish is already been granted just by participating?
Actually Twisted Metal Lost Endings covered this, with Charles Kane who "just wanted a chance to drive again, one last time.", and well.. got it Calypso is so impressed by his desire to just play and his ruthlessness, that he goes ahead and makes him his personal chauffeur.
Only one that comes to mind is Hammerhead from TM1. All they wanted, was the babes. I mean what's Calypso supposed to do? Give them a DVD of the talking pig movie?
Definitely got a few Hitchhiker's Guide vibes from this. Particularly with the dolphins becoming the new leaders ("So long and thanks for all the fish!") and a surfer dude becoming president of the universe.
Dana Hadel's ending reminds me of Spectre's ending from Twisted Metal: Head On, where he gets buried under an avalanche of money. Also, Joe Skullion is my new personal hero.

The Aliens creep me out alot more than Calypso, because he is always there to reward them and never harm them, you can especially tell in head-on where he tells his guards to always stand down (except when one actively refuses his reward and tries to take him in), the bad part usually comes down to winner stupidity, poor phrasing, wordplay or all of the above. The aliens however are sort of the opposite, they grant a reward based on their kindness rather than contract and can easily fuck you over at a moment's notice, which they do by either lack of comprehension or too much of it
True question is, was that all just part of the transforming process and everyone will end up becoming just one person that represents the mix of everyone on Earth or will everyone just become a shambling mass of human persons?
What's funny is that the alien's aren't even being malicious with these endings, they genuinely believe they're fulfilling the desires of the victors, aside from the earth hope guys, seems even the aliens can't stand hippies.
Recreate the Alien's voice with Audacity: Likely just need "reverb" and "change pitch". Shouldn't be too difficult to recreate. Look up one of my recent Skyrim Catssandra! videos, I do something similar with all the clips I use for her voice.
At the time they probably just sampled the voice using a sampler device, then played it back by pressing a bunch of keys simultaneously. This would have played back the voice at different sample rates, and different pitches, which would have modulated it (giving it the chorus effect). But, you can't really do that on Audacity easily, though if you were using Pro-Tools/Logic it would be very easy to do. I must admit that these aliens intrigue me. They despise the extreme environmentalists, reward bloodthirsty killers, and make their king a surfer who has no ambitions. And in the other endings, or they have no common sense or have twisted sense of humor.
Not even surprised that Joe is the Chosen One. He's squaring up against battle-ready submarines - some of which government-operated - and is unaffected by the water pressure at that depth, nor does he apparently need to _breathe,_ as he doesn't seem to even have an oxygen tank. Anyone who can do all that shit and potentially end up on top at the end has got to be _someone_ worth a damn.
Not only would Captain Cutlass fit into Dead Rising, but he'd also be perfect for Twisted Metal. Plus, his ending is one of the best. He gets to tear it up on the cosmic seas, while the rest of us get off scott free!

Hey, I actually found out how to duplicate the voice in audacity!! It's deceptively simple. You record a normal speaking voice, then duplicate it twice. After that, you lower the pitch of one voice so that it's audible, then lower the other voice so that it isn't audible but it's able to modulate the other frequencies in a way that, due to the speech patterns typical in human speech, shifts between phase, chorus and flange modulation.
It was thanks to this video starting off the series of events that led me to ultimately committing one of the most evident ways of revealing myself as a complete weirdo: I wrote a Critical Depth fanfic. (evidently the only one in existence, it looks like)

Kullen64 In another secret ending, the aliens wanted dolphins to be the chosen ones. But in this ending, I think the punchline is that the Team Earth faction wanted to use the pods to destroy the exploiters to save the environment... The aliens did just that.
The extra characters endings are all text, there is no image and voiceover, but what happens is: Mr.Phatt: He wanted to mind-control the people of the world, so the aliens enlarge his "cranial capacity" to the size of a small building, but his neck (and his body) cannot hold the resulting weight so he is supposely crushed by his own head (not too sure, the aliens only mention his "world domination being very brief") Agent 326: He wanted to retire on some luxurious and exotic location with beautyful women and all the kind of stuff you find in such places (typical 007 style ending since he is also based on that character), so the aliens send him to THEIR equivalent place of that kind... which also happens to have a sulfuride atmosphere and be so hot he went into "self-combustion" the moment he arrived. Abaddon: The AI didn't calculate (or didn't care) that would have been destroyed as well by setting off Dr A.Pocalipse's Strato Cracker, so the aliens retreive it's CPU from the remains and send it to one of their labs to be presumely studied and upgraded Overseer: Remember the Earth Hope ending ? The aliens arrive and are unhappy to see the "monkey people" being the dominating species instead of the dolphins as the planned, so they hold the Overseer (who is also an alien like the ones in the ending) responsible for the failure and send him to supervise another planet species callen "spitter cockroaches" or something like that, which seem to be dangegous and aggressive acid-spitting creatures. You can check all those endings in full details from some campaign gameplay vids about the characters, which also include the endings to read.

While it only has one ending that could be considered a 'Creepy Bad Ending', this focus on explosive vehicular combat games with the majority of the factions being evil (or at least unsympathetic jerks) makes me wonder if you've ever tried Battletanx or its sequel, Global Assault. One of my favorites for sure.

Hey Git, I agree with the "mass-death cult" thing. It's kind of annoying they always do that shit instead of something more reasonably sound, like better yourself through your will, find new ways to commune with the other side, being a better person, or dancing as you mentioned.

I just gotta say, i'm so glad I found your channel. I am also intrigued when games do bad endings, especially if they're a result of the player making thoughtless decisions. I enjoy game overs in general, but I wish more went in depth into what happens after the hero is killed, or defeated (i'm also usually too cowardly to get a bad ending on purpose as well).
You got me into a lot of my favourite games too. You got me into the older Fire Emblem titles, as well as Ace Attorney and Advance Wars.

I guess if you wanted to recreate the vocal effect in Audacity I'd suggest using the original vocal and duplicating it twice so that you get three audio tracks. One would have heavy modulation (chorus or flanger it sounds like, it's a bit hard to tell because of the heavy reverb and pitch shifting), and one would be pitch-shifted down by 5 or 12 semitones. After that, different levels of reverb on each track (with the modulated track getting the most reverb). Then, started mixing until it sounds right.
You'd probably get something cool at least if you tried that.
I saw it not as the aliens being stupid and simply misunderstanding, but being so smart as to not care about the fate of their discoverers, doing whatever they felt like with them to show them who's truly superior.

Calypso is so impressed by his desire to just play and his ruthlessness, that he goes ahead and makes him his personal chauffeur.
Only one that comes to mind is Hammerhead from TM1.
All they wanted, was the babes. I mean what's Calypso supposed to do? Give them a DVD of the talking pig movie?
Definitely got a few Hitchhiker's Guide vibes from this. Particularly with the dolphins becoming the new leaders ("So long and thanks for all the fish!") and a surfer dude becoming president of the universe.
Dana Hadel's ending reminds me of Spectre's ending from Twisted Metal: Head On, where he gets buried under an avalanche of money.

So out of all the contestants, discounting the unlockable ones, only a Rad Surfer and a Pirate got their happy endings...yeah, I can dig it.

The Aliens creep me out alot more than Calypso, because he is always there to reward them and never harm them, you can especially tell in head-on where he tells his guards to always stand down (except when one actively refuses his reward and tries to take him in), the bad part usually comes down to winner stupidity, poor phrasing, wordplay or all of the above.
The aliens however are sort of the opposite, they grant a reward based on their kindness rather than contract and can easily fuck you over at a moment's notice, which they do by either lack of comprehension or too much of it

Recreate the Alien's voice with Audacity: Likely just need "reverb" and "change pitch". Shouldn't be too difficult to recreate. Look up one of my recent Skyrim Catssandra! videos, I do something similar with all the clips I use for her voice.
At the time they probably just sampled the voice using a sampler device, then played it back by pressing a bunch of keys simultaneously. This would have played back the voice at different sample rates, and different pitches, which would have modulated it (giving it the chorus effect).
But, you can't really do that on Audacity easily, though if you were using Pro-Tools/Logic it would be very easy to do.
I did something similar with this song I made, but I used higher-pitched original samples so the effect is different because the intention was different.

Shoulda known it was Incognito from the start. The cutscene was very much them. As soon as you said "Twisted Metal", I was like, "Ooh, Incognito!"

They despise the extreme environmentalists, reward bloodthirsty killers, and make their king a surfer who has no ambitions.
And in the other endings, or they have no common sense or have twisted sense of humor.

Not even surprised that Joe is the Chosen One. He's squaring up against battle-ready submarines - some of which government-operated - and is unaffected by the water pressure at that depth, nor does he apparently need to _breathe,_ as he doesn't seem to even have an oxygen tank. Anyone who can do all that shit and potentially end up on top at the end has got to be _someone_ worth a damn.

Not only would Captain Cutlass fit into Dead Rising, but he'd also be perfect for Twisted Metal. Plus, his ending is one of the best. He gets to tear it up on the cosmic seas, while the rest of us get off scott free!

I always took Jacks ending as being him kept alive for eternity on display as a head in a jar. The sound effects at the end seem to suggest that he is awake and screaming :(

Hey, I actually found out how to duplicate the voice in audacity!!
It's deceptively simple. You record a normal speaking voice, then duplicate it twice. After that, you lower the pitch of one voice so that it's audible, then lower the other voice so that it isn't audible but it's able to modulate the other frequencies in a way that, due to the speech patterns typical in human speech, shifts between phase, chorus and flange modulation.
It was thanks to this video starting off the series of events that led me to ultimately committing one of the most evident ways of revealing myself as a complete weirdo:

In another secret ending, the aliens wanted dolphins to be the chosen ones. But in this ending, I think the punchline is that the Team Earth faction wanted to use the pods to destroy the exploiters to save the environment... The aliens did just that.

The extra characters endings are all text, there is no image and voiceover, but what happens is:
Mr.Phatt: He wanted to mind-control the people of the world, so the aliens enlarge his "cranial capacity" to the size of a small building, but his neck (and his body) cannot hold the resulting weight so he is supposely crushed by his own head (not too sure, the aliens only mention his "world domination being very brief")
Agent 326: He wanted to retire on some luxurious and exotic location with beautyful women and all the kind of stuff you find in such places (typical 007 style ending since he is also based on that character), so the aliens send him to THEIR equivalent place of that kind... which also happens to have a sulfuride atmosphere and be so hot he went into "self-combustion" the moment he arrived.
Abaddon: The AI didn't calculate (or didn't care) that would have been destroyed as well by setting off Dr A.Pocalipse's Strato Cracker, so the aliens retreive it's CPU from the remains and send it to one of their labs to be presumely studied and upgraded
Overseer: Remember the Earth Hope ending ? The aliens arrive and are unhappy to see the "monkey people" being the dominating species instead of the dolphins as the planned, so they hold the Overseer (who is also an alien like the ones in the ending) responsible for the failure and send him to supervise another planet species callen "spitter cockroaches" or something like that, which seem to be dangegous and aggressive acid-spitting creatures.
You can check all those endings in full details from some campaign gameplay vids about the characters, which also include the endings to read.
