  • The #BMW #3Series family currently comprises four engine and spec-level choices, kicking off with the 320i (there’s no 318i for now). Next step is the volume-selling 330i, then there’s the left-field 330e plug-in hybrid (PHEV), and finally the M340i xDrive flagship in lieu of the yet-to-be-released new M3 coming soon enough. We have five models of the BMW 3 Series family, and Mike Costello asks the question - which is the one you should buy?

I really do like my 330e, however once they get to 100km on E then it would be perfect from a daily PoV. I avoid buying cars new these days and rarely buy up a used one unless its best deal possible perfect conditions. For me the leasing strategy is much more appropriate now in the world we live because of depreciation of the cars especially BMW. I know some people have lot of money but still while this leasing is good for now why buy the car new you lost 20% at delivery to you and it will just be a bad investment. Many people say cars are not the investment but those people are the ones that pay stupid money and do not care of the outcome of depreciation.

Combine that with different expected volumes per configuration and sometimes different manufacturing capabilities depending on the market. I wouldn’t buy a 3 series cos I can’t stand automatic cars. They r for the lazy drivers who arnt passionate about driving. It’s a shame cos other than the transmission the 3 series is a very attractive car, not as nice as the e46 was but nonetheless.

Everyone to there own but I personally couldn’t drive an auto every day and how boreing can u get.? If money was no object there’s only one car I would buy and that’s a Holden hsv gtsr w1, which has a manual gearbox funnyely enough, but the m5 competition is probably a better car but it’s an auto so unfortunately not.

Which one has a non-turbo inline NA 6-cylinder, with analog controls for steering, throttle and braking? If none, then BMW has lost its way, and removed the connection of the driver to the feel of the road, the a real "Ultimate Driving Machine" should have!

@@soawn29 After seeing all the long-term reliability issues of the N54/N55, etc. as well as the V8s with the Turbos in the hot temperature Vee, ... I think I'll pass and keep my E90 N52 330i M-Sport. After 5 years of new ownership of these turbos, the problems will be handed on to the next secondhand owner. Reliability should be measured over 10 years, not the 1st 5 years
