Innova Shryke Review (Star and GStar) | The Perfect Combination of Distance and Controllability

  • Creating a distance driver that combines distance with controllability is a challenging thing to do. Innova has met this challenge with their very popular Shryke. With tons of glide and a predictable degree of stability, this disc is definitely a top choice for intermediate players looking to maximize their distance potential.

Great review. My farthest measured throw was with the Shryke at 390. The challenge I have with it is keeping the lines tight if it’s not a wide open hole.

Got Champion Glow 166g. Just bombs 350ft for my weak 60you noodle arm. Insane disc.
    You have a great FH!

Nice video buddy. I throw mostly Discraft ESP, but remember how amazing GStar feels. I may have to go pick up something in GStar just because. 😂
    God bless!

I have always favored more OS discs, but I just bagged a shuttle o have had on my shelf for a year or more. My first real throw with it, and I parked it under the basket from the pro pads on a 448 ft par 3.
CRAZY good disc to hyzer flip. Although it is a bit too understable for any headwind throws if you have any arm speed.

Great video with good info. I bought a light one and the thing is as beefy as a Destroyer I usually bag heavier discs. I can’t get it to fly correctly. It’s very domey and dumps easy. It tends to hyzer out to the left way too early not getting much distance. My 7-10 speed disc out drives them any time with way more reliability and would only give it a 5/10 on my scale. Great videos keep it up.

I'm a forehand dominant thrower, and the shryke is like the destroyer's big brother. I can put more of my strength into it and it won't burn out and turn over.

    Ya, I get it.
The Shryke is the only high speed driver of hundreds of molds Ive thrown that gives me fairway driver level control of my lines.
I suspect its a good match for my arm speed, but also the mild, late fade just keeps it straight out to bomber distances.

Nice vid! Shryke is my go to bomber as well. I've been on the fence about getting a Gstar shyrke. I have a star thunderbird and gstar thunderbird and the gstar is drastically different. How big is the difference between your star shryke and gstar shryke?
Great vid by the way, real nice throws!

The difference is small, but noticeable. My GStar Shryke shows all the normal marks of a slightly more understable Star Shryke. However, if you play around with the weight a bit, you might be able to get a GStar Shryke that has more glide than a Star Shryke, but with a similar overall stability - e.g., a heavier GStar Shryke might have a similar stability to a lighter Star Shryke, but with noticeably more glide. Definitely worth experimenting with!

One more thing: it seems to me that the difference in stability between Star and GStar becomes less pronounced with faster discs. Biggest difference usually seems to be with putters; smallest difference with really fast stuff.

i like to throw it for 400ft hyzer flip to turn over with no fade.. i can get her to like 450ft if i put it on serious hyzer

I bought a pro Shryke and it was a roller brand new. I'm not a big arm either. Maybe I got a fluke disc but the thing is so understable. Way more than my Mamba

Pro shryke is practically a different disc than star or g star. Glow Shryke is MONEY
