Singers usually don't sing Whitney songs in the original key and low it for their range, but Sohyang RAISED IT instead! It's so impressive that she can belt so high with so much control and no voice cracks and etc! I have no doubt she could perfectly sing Love On Top by Beyoncé and raise like, 6 keys instead of just 4 like Bey does 🤣

David Foster made a tremendous effort to meet her after hearing this song of So Hyang and she performed with him in Japan that year in November at his earnest invitation. David Foster, who performed with So Hyang, said the performance with her was the best and was really happy to meet the incredible and fantastic top singer in the world and perform together. I'm getting a bit up there in age, but in all my years on this earth I have _never_ heard anyone who can sing like So Hyang. Honestly, when you first hear So Hyang sing it is like you have _never_ heard a human woman sing ever before, she is that good! Words get meaningless after a while when trying to give her due praise. It just can't be done, except to sit down and listen to her sing and truly appreciate what you are seeing and hearing.

But all of them could not follow the sensitivity of the original song. Sohyang showed her voice clearly and showed her sensitivity. She is the best.

@@beyondviolet Sohyang’s high note is good but very thin so it comes out as annoying for some people like me. Also, she can’t pull back, switch register or artistically improvise like Whitney.
There is a huge difference on stage live. Whitney was (toxically) obsessed with her ex-boyfriend back then. So this song was filled with raw emotion when Whitney sang it. I don’t really know who was Sohyang singing this song to... God? It just felt like she just wanted to sing this Whitney’s song and impress everyone with high notes.

Very intrigued by your observations of Sohyang's performance. It's very interesting to listen to your observation on the "twangy quacking" sound to help her stay connected in her voice - this is the first time I hear anyone make that comment. Some actually flagged the sound almost as a fault for its nasal tune. It's more educational to hear your comment. Have you listened to any Home Free? They are a country music acapella group and they are STELLAR. In the Blood or Castle on the Hill are two of my favorites--their main bass (with his obscene 5-octave range) in particular is incredible, but they all are amazing. I'd love to hear if you have an opinion on how something can sound like country music when there's no instruments involved, just through their vocals. :D
