From one coach to another, I have to say you have some of the best reaction videos out there. They're clear, they focus on what is going on with extra emphasis on the positives of the singer, and they are not "shrouded in mystery" to get you more students. Really great content.
Definitely react to more So Hyang! I would go so far to say that she’s the most technically proficient vocalist currently alive. Her mixed voice and head voice are incredible and her low notes and middle register are still really good for such a high tessitura. She actually had pneumonia during this performance so these notes are nothing for her. She can effortlessly support up to a C#6 in a fully balanced mixed voice (highest mixed note in this performance is G5) and she’s particularly famous for her incredible mixed Bb5s. She’s the queen of the upper 5th octaves and thanks to her head voice with consistent support to E6, she has some of the best 6th octave notes out there too. Not to mention her seamless transitions between registers and her near flawless technique in general. She’s a vocal monster thanks to 20+ years of vocal training and you should definitely check more of her out. I suggest “Arirang Alone” and “Bridge Over Troubled Water” next.
Sebastian Thorsen Ugh are you one of those Filipino stans? Morissette is very good, but she is by no means as good as So Hyang. Her lows are arguably less resonant and supported and she often strains halfway up her fifth octave. Literally the only thing she does better is whistle register and maybe middle register, but that’s not saying much. So Hyang is also superior with support, agility, transitions, intonation, and versatility.

Yes she was. She normally does not breathe between lines like that unless she's sick. She had pneumonia, because she had cancer, she still gets sick easily.

Tara Simon Studios I’ve actually found a couple of her lectures on TH-cam. They are in Korean but I’m still able to observe her teaching various vocal techniques. On a personal note, she’s a cancer survivor and has done most of her singing in church. It’s my understanding that she’s been offered contracts over the years but has turned them down , wanting to sing for God instead. I don’t know how to explain it, but her soul comes through her singing in such a special way.
Further note.... she sang this with Pneumonia, having come straight from a hospital check up to the studio. Usually her last note for this type of song would be a very long Bb5 or D6 or some such.

Very nice analysis. It's interesting how you turn this masterfully executed performance into a lesson of vocal pedagogy and appreciate the inclusion of the song genre and message as part of the consideration. Sohyang is one of most technically precise vocalist I know. As a footnote, it was reported that Sohyang performed this song under the effect of pneumonia and against the doctor's advice not to talk. She has a very high tessitura and I always wondered whether she might have delivered this song slightly differently if she were healthy. I hope you will do more analysis of Sohyang's performance. Seriously, She is the Vocal Goddess who has tonal elegance, virtuositic technical elements such as amazingly well supported high beltings and humongously resonating sounds and even coloratura-like agile voice beautifully colored. One and only Divine singing.
Personally my favourite she has sang is arirang alone (korean folk song) goosebumps everytime. But her other performanced like Lean On, Bridge Over Troubled Water and especially I Have Nothing is just spectacular

The boy's name is Shane Filan that the camera went to a few times in the audience. Great singer, btw.....I believe Westlife reunited this year but don't know if it was a one time reunion or reunion to start touring again.

Sohyang is one of most technically precise vocalist I know. As a footnote, it was reported that Sohyang performed this song under the effect of pneumonia and against the doctor's advice not to talk. She has a very high tessitura and I always wondered whether she might have delivered this song slightly differently if she were healthy. I hope you will do more analysis of Sohyang's performance. Seriously, She is the Vocal Goddess who has tonal elegance, virtuositic technical elements such as amazingly well supported high beltings and humongously resonating sounds and even coloratura-like agile voice beautifully colored. One and only Divine singing.

That guy they put the camera on in the audience is the lead singer of the former Irish boyband "Westlife".The group broke up in 2012. The boy's name is Shane Filan that the camera went to a few times in the audience. Great singer, btw.....I believe Westlife reunited this year but don't know if it was a one time reunion or reunion to start touring again.
