SoHyang is UNBELIEVABLE to me, she's the best singer out there. I hope to see you react & analyse her perfomances more. I'd recommend Lean on Me, Fate, Where Are You and Bridge Over Troubled Water. She has messed up before but it's because she had many many many sick moments where she wasn't supposed to be even singing, she's a cancer survivor and till now her immunity is pretty weak so she gets sick often, for example her "Raise Me Up' performance she had pneumonia and her doctor said she shouldn't even speak that day but she still chose to sing, also would love to see you react to that and see what's she capable off even with pneumonia.
Totally agree, she has an amazingly beautiful talent. Not just her voice and technique but the emotion she evokes from you when watching. it's always a journey watching her performances.

I would say mid and lower range Son Seung-yon is better; the fact that she broke Sohyang's record on King of Masked Singer shows her skill level. That's why I consider them to be on the same level - but I certainly have no problem with people putting one above the other

Btw! The “uh” sound you hear a lot with korean singers is actually the korean “eo” vowel. Its very similar but it’s round like the “oh” sound, but not quite there either.

Try doing a stereotypical valley girl line while replacing all the “uh”s w/ korean ㅓs. But with watching her videos, you will manage to give great examples of healthy technique, connected voice etc. etc. She is blessed with a legedendary voice which she uses to spread God's word. Sohyang used to have a very bad technique, but now it's totally different, it took a lot of work and dedication to do what she does today, I love her because she is living proof that if you want something you should strive to achieve it, she is a really amazing vocalist and one of the best out there!
I wouldn’t say it was bad, it’s just that in the 90s and early 2000s it was just mediocre. She still had a very wide range she just wasn’t able to sing it as well as she could today.

If by any chance you know Korean there are some videos on youtube in which you can see Sohyang doing a few master classes at the University in Korea and she explains how she arranges songs, especially the way how she sings according to the style and the lyrics of the song. You should react more to Sohyang, she's amazing. In my opinion, you should react to anything from 2017 until now, I think not because they are the "best" (she's always good) vocally speaking (even though she has improved a lot her vocal range in the last two years), but because she's more focused on making people feel something rather than wowing them with vocal acrobatics. If you want vocal acrobatics watch 'Everyone' at the immortal songs 2 (from 2015, I believe). However, I would recommend 'Breathe', 'Hug me' or 'Home' from the King of Masked Singer (2017). Actually, any song sung by her in that show is worth watching, they are just my favorite. The only thing is that you can't find them in youtube, you'll need to go to Vimeo and expect Sohyang wearing a mask the whole time. Fun fact: she is the singing voice of Moana in the Korean version of the film.

Sohyang is an ideal vocalist. When watching her in majority of performances, her singing sounds so natural as if she's simply speaking, Even when belting she doesn't sound stressed or taking much effort. Its natural. Which I think is important when being a performer. Your voice has to tell the story. While a lot of other singers are just singing a song and it ends up sounding too karaoke.
I love this performance, it's one of my favorites from her along with Breathe. Your videos are so educational I love them so much, I learned so much about vowel choices and which ones are easier to use while watching them. Sohyang is also a vocal teacher (at a Korean university I believe). She's a gospel singer, has been one for more than 20 years.
Leo! I still hear a head dominant mix from the start, and I very well could be wrong. Most vocal coaches agree though, but it’s not important. She is a phenomenal singer, and has the best technique I have ever heard.
So hard to swallow all those video recordings of her - these closeups on heart touched audience, crying grannies, k-pop stars doing "wow" etc - thats so bad - reminds me comunist propaganda concerts in my country 25+ years ago. SoHyang is an amazing vocalist . She takes my breath away every time i listen to her. I literally tear up and get goose bumps listening to her performances. Not many singers have that effect on me and none quite like her. I was lucky to be in her concert a few days ago and men, she was outstanding. I love her voice! I don’t know if she’s the best singer ever because although she is definitely an amazing singer, “best singer” ultimately comes down to personal preference. I really enjoy her style and smooth voice, it gives me goosebumps! I can feel it through my entire body when she sings, and her high notes make me emotional. It’s beyond beautiful!

I loved the technical education you gave, giving concise detail and analogy without talking in a manner too technical for majority of non-musician based people. Learned to use more "uhs" in place of "ah's" in points of struggle from your analysis you gave as a tip as well as "understanding" that good spot right "above the first bridge" that is a person's sweet spot. While a lot of other singers are just singing a song and it ends up sounding too karaoke.
I love this performance, it's one of my favorites from her along with Breathe. Your videos are so educational I love them so much, I learned so much about vowel choices and which ones are easier to use while watching them. Sohyang is also a vocal teacher (at a Korean university I believe). She's a gospel singer, has been one for more than 20 years.

I think she was mixed to begin with, it was just head heavy at the top and as she went down you heard more of the mix.

Leo! I still hear a head dominant mix from the start, and I very well could be wrong. Most vocal coaches agree though, but it’s not important. She is a phenomenal singer, and has the best technique I have ever heard.

So hard to swallow all those video recordings of her - these closeups on heart touched audience, crying grannies, k-pop stars doing "wow" etc - thats so bad - reminds me comunist propaganda concerts in my country 25+ years ago.
Listening to her performance, is more than enough. I have no idea, why they feed people such BS. I sincerely hope, that its not her choice.

So hyang is my favorite female vocalist ever. She amazed me every time and sometimes even left me crying. On top of that she’s really kind and down to earth. I’ve seen an interview of her where she said it’s hard for her to sing now because of her stomach is weak or something like that. She even considered to stop singing 😭
I come back here from time to time, because yeah, she's so amazing. But overall, because this is my favorite video of Sam reacting to someone... He falls in love with her voice and technique and I can see that time and time again without it getting boring. 😍

SoHyang is an amazing vocalist . She takes my breath away every time i listen to her. I literally tear up and get goose bumps listening to her performances. Not many singers have that effect on me and none quite like her. Please react to more of her stuff like Lean On Me which she sang in front of Michael Bolton on a show- he asked her to perform at his concerts over in Korea as he was so impressed by her. Also Bridge Over Troubled water is another great performance.

I was lucky to be in her concert a few days ago and men, she was outstanding. I swear that I’ve listened to Arirang alone for like a thousand times but I still got tears on my eyes and goosebumps when she sang it at the concert. So Hyang is by far the most humble yet talented artist that I’ve ever known. So happy that you react to her. Looking forward more of ur future vids.
If you want to hear Sohyang singing in English you should watch her covering Lean on Me and/or Bridge over Trouble Water. Trust me, you are not gonna regret It. But also I would like you to react to Sohyang singing Fate which in my opinion is so underrated. I mean, in that song she was able to sustain a high note for ten seconds!

This is probably the first time since the first time in my life hearing it that I actually liked this song, because it is sung too often in Korea. But the jazzy inflection was done so creatively and of course Sohyang can make any song sound convincing and stir the soul. In Sohyang, the world has been given a wonderful gift by the Creator.

I love her voice! I don’t know if she’s the best singer ever because although she is definitely an amazing singer, “best singer” ultimately comes down to personal preference. I really enjoy her style and smooth voice, it gives me goosebumps! I can feel it through my entire body when she sings, and her high notes make me emotional. It’s beyond beautiful!

Learned to use more "uhs" in place of "ah's" in points of struggle from your analysis you gave as a tip as well as "understanding" that good spot right "above the first bridge" that is a person's sweet spot.
