    I just picked up the 7 Pro Sapphire Solar. I had first bought the solar non-sapphire version and used it a couple of days but had to return it due to the display flickering. I am enjoying a lighter watch now. One thing that was obvious right away is that the display on the non sapphire model is way better (less glare and clearer) as I suspected it would be. Visability in direct sunlight is terrific on both. Hopefully the lighter new watch, with sapphire durability, is worth the extra cost. Enjoying it so far. Both are great.

      I am not fan of sapphire either. I would much rather have gorilla glass and throw on screen protector. My last Fenix7 I did still scratch sapphire, so it offers a false sense of security with added glare and added cost.

      @@RandoRaf Yeah, live and learn. Some have said with sapphire you just scratch a screen coating. Either way these have a limited life, like any computer. Cheers

      @@RandoRafi used a screen protector on my 7 pro. 😂 Didn't put any protector on my tag heuer ironically.

      had a Fenix 5 sapphire, bumped that against a wall a couple of times, literally, never had a single scratch on the screen. it's now gone for other reasons, but screen was like new after 7 years.

      Great review thanks! Can the screen glass be replaced if damaged or scratched?

    Good review, thanks for focusing on the display. That's my big concern with these models. I have an Epix gen 2 and base Fenix 7. Both are great for different reasons. Also, your band looks fantastic on it. 👍

      Hi @fendermon I too have a Garmin Epix 2 but itchy for a Fenix 7. I want more battery and want to try the MIP. Undecided should I go base 7 stainless steel $773 or 7 Pro sapphire $910
      Can I please ask your comparison thoughts

    • @fendermon
      @fendermon 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@jamespham888 Hi, certainly. I have a cigar box full of Garmin watches now (I'm funny like that) I love comparing things. If the house was on fire I would grab the 7 pro Sapphire. It is significantly lighter than the base 7, has a great flashlight, and the display is perfectly fine indoors and a gem outdoors. I'm a MIP guy now after owning both types.
      Battery life is in spades. The Epix is fine too, but I have it set to touch to wake. An added bonus of the Fenix is if you are following a route you get to see it the whole time without having the display on. This is huge if you are following an intricate route. By dialing the screen time-out to longer times on the Epix I suppose it would be do-able. I haven't tried it that way...but the battery would take a big hit.
      I could be happy with either Fenix or Epix (if it had the flashlight) but like I said I enjoy comparing things. Wait until Black Friday or Cyber Mon or there abouts if you do buy. Wild price swings/sales coming up very soon. Let me know if I missed something - Cheers

    I brought the Garmin fenix 7x pro sapphire solar back in December, and it's awesome. The display is just right both in the sunlight and in the dark. Awesome review mate

      I dont have video but I did end up using this downtown Chicago one day and it struggled w/ the tall buildings finding signal. Once it found it seemed fine but was about halfway into my walk that it finally connected.

    Hey man , great video. I have a question - how do you track weightlifting? I have found the built-inn feature not so user- friendly . Do you have any tips on how to best track weightlifting sessions ?

    • @RandoRaf
      @RandoRaf  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Outside of Heart rate its pretty useless for weightlifting. I do use scosche.forearm band or Polar h1 usually and take watch off. I do this mainy for comfort as I find fenix HR pretty close in accuracy. As far tracking the exercises, there is gab in the market for this. The only company that is still around is Beast Sensor. But I just track my HR and hoping to maybe get beast sensor again if comes up on sale. Coros I think does decent job if want watch. Coros you just select muscle group vis fiddling around with trying to find a specific exercise.

      Garmins are not really for strength training
      The gym sport function is basically useless
      Also if your are doing strength training hrm via wrist will be inaccurate
      I used a hrm chest strap and my garmin to track my hr and training load and to have a timer
