    Just switched my Apple Watch Ultra for the instinct 2x tactical coyote tan. Battery is insane compared to AWU. Very happy with it.

      Same. Instinct is in another league if you actually do things outdoors, off the grid

    I wear my 7X solar daily. The MIP display is great I have no issues reading always on display in any setting

    I was upgrading from the vivoactive 4 to the Instinct 2X and honestly been loving it. The biggest difference was the screen and no longer being touchscreen but my expereince with the VA4 was that I found the touch screen less intuitive during runs because you need to swipe (autoscroll is an option but I don't like it). Knew I had to get a watch with more buttons from then though. The screen too I realised I also RARELY really used it for anything other than showing stats during runs. Even post run it's much easier to sync to your phone and look at data there. The fenix or FR255/955 would cover those use cases too but considering the price you get with the instinct and the style I just went with it. And coming from the VA4 I was comfortable with a metal bezel but these new amoled screens and the flush bezels on those watches put me off. Garmin seems to be going the route of charging crazy prices for screen repairs so I'd rather get a more rugged watch that can take a beating. Torch is also great at night, it's such a silly thing but you do actually use it lol

    I purchased the Garmin fenix 7x pro sapphire solar back in December and have had no issues with the screen legibility. The only problem i had was the band length. My wrist size is 9 and a half inches, so i had to buy another to fit comfortably. If the shop i went to had the Instinct 2X tactical solar, i would have brought that instead just because it looks like it could take a beating. Awesome video mate

    I have the Forerunner 955 (MIP display) and no issues with the always on display. I set the gesture on the backlight to come on after sunset.

  • @Army4Runner
    @Army4Runner 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    There is a setting to increase your display intensity. Appearance > Watch Face > Brightness. You get three levels to choose from. You can also set your screen to “always on” which will obviously decrease your battery life. But, it does cut back on the wrist flicking action.

    I'm wearing Instinct 2s Solar daily, and recently decided to upgrade to Fenix 7s pro Sapphire Solar. What a DISSAPOINTMENT. Before buying, I read and watched a lot of reviews, where reviewers were warning about legibility issues on it but, man oh man, you can't truly grasp it until you try it for a day. Speaking of sapphire, it doesn't seem to be the sole culprit, as the added touchscreen distances the screen further away from the surface of the glass, thus contributing to poor legibility (as many users have reported). It is for that reason the normal 7 pro with gorilla glass is slightly better but not much. My reasons for upgrade were the torch, offline maps, and more precise GPS tracking (as well as getting a faster GPS lock). I couldn't see any groundbreaking difference in GPS precision, kind of realized I didn't need the offline maps for my runs, so the only thing I truly miss is the torch. I returned Fenix 7s pro SS and I'm sticking with instinct. I hope if there's a next iteration of it, they'll add torch on all model sizes. Cheers!

      Yea I really wanted titanium to save some weight hoping that new Pro would be better but still not good. Next fenix I"m def avoid sapphire. But the torch is awesome and is main reason I got the Instinct 2x. If they make Instinct 3 w/ torch will upgrade as 2x is bit to large.

    Same problem with fenix 7pro gorilla glass , not easy to read in low light, i also prefer instinct for that reason. Oled watch are nightmare for me.I can't stand a watch that doesn't display the time all the time, it's stupid in this case you might as well take a look at your smartphone. The purpose of a watch is to display the time, even if my hands are dirty I can read it without touching the watch, no automatic switching system has convinced me to date, too much latency or poor detection.

      Yep with you 100%. I currently using 965 with oled but i have always on display, and it still getting a good week of battery. Instinct 2x still my fav tho.

    I’m coming from a G-Shock too. I love it, but it’s a bit hard to read it. So I’m looking to upgrade to something else. Instinct 2X looks similar to a G-Shock just better and smarter.

    Hi, thanks for the upload. I have the same Casio's. I have worn them daily for 10 years. Perfect tool, one of the most comfortable watches I've ever owned. Absolutely love them. But the strap couldn't take it and finally broke. So I bought an Instinct 2 Solar Tactical. Simply because I wanted something new, and it's the closest smart fitness device to Casio.
    As I know, the F7 has a MIP display to save power. It just doesn't have a backlight under the screen during normal use. So the time reading function might suck depending on the lightning condition. Personally, I don't want another bright screen on my wrist, but it looks like AMOLED is the way to go.
    As for the sapphire. Garmin's sapphire is not the same as the sapphire on a regular mechanical watch, for example. It's looks softer and less clear, IMO.

    • @RandoRaf
      @RandoRaf  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yep I def agree. The Garmin sapphire is not as clear as sapphire found on nice mechanical watches. I think its missing all AR coatings.

  • @MD-tr1yv
    @MD-tr1yv 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    The actual straps that come with the 2x actually taper from 26mm to about 24mm at the end I think.

    Even going from a forerunner 955
    The screen was just worse to read . I’m not sure what happened.
    I like many here have resorted to having the gesture to make the light come on

  • @matrhein
    @matrhein 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Yup, the sapphire coating is messing with visibility big time, especially with the MIP displays. It's a different story with the Epix series. I went from the Enduro to Epix 51mm, mainly for the new HR sensor. the Instinct are still rocking the even older HR sensor, right. That could be a point against it.
    Be warned concerning AMOLED: Once you've seen the difference there is no return to MIP. Especially in terms of legibility under all conditions.

    • @34332
      @34332 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      About the new/old sensor: the heavier a watch is, the less accurate the sensor can measure (more movement). The tight fit and less weight of the X2 makes it very accurate, even with the older HR sensor.

    • @bb4prelude73
      @bb4prelude73 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The sensor on the 7 pro has issues as well. When you first start your workouts it will read high for a bit . A bit annoying

    • @VernL4
      @VernL4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yep, the sapphire screen definitely affects legibility. I compared the two screen options side-by-side before getting my Fenix 7 solar. The sapphire screen had a very noticeable glare. I went with the non-sapphire version and legibilty is excellent.

    • @bb4prelude73
      @bb4prelude73 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@VernL4 even with the non sapphire the legibility is not as good as let’s say a forerunner 955 or a 245 .
      It made me consider a coros after purchase . But Garmins profiles and the flashlight is nice

    it's not 'brightness', it's because you can't have all; you can have colors OR contrast, apparently. Although yeah..the old garmin 920XT had it with colors.
