I almost lost my wife after buy my Garmin fenix 7x pro sapphire solar hahaha. I came from a G Shock Mudmaster, so learning how to use this beast of a watch is on another level. There is so many things to learn and figure out, its mind boggling. Thank you for your awesome review from New Zealand 🇳🇿
the solar charge will only charge around 3% per day. so charge it at home and then the solar helps the endurance. I charge mine around one or twice a month. usually once.
nice renew, everything is explain in detail and on spot. Except the battery life, that you said that you are charging the watch once per month. This is a Fenix 7 Pro which has a battery life of 17days when using GPS. So i do charge the watch every 5-7 days as im doing a 1-2 hour training per day. So that is its battery life can stand.
hi and thanks. I cycle three times a week for 1-2 hours each time. i used gps on auto setting. and currently I charge just once a month. my watch when fully charged says 21 days. but this also depends on whether you use it as fully smart watch or like I do mostly for fitness tracking
@@AlphaPews thats fair. As im training every day for at least 1 hour in the morning and 1 hour in the afternoon. All SATs on. When i fully charge i see 17 days available. Im also using smart watch capabilities so that may use lots of battery during the day. Im also using all day long the Heart rate monitoring.
@astasuleo I leave HR on also but not blood Ox measuring. I set that to manual. I also gave battery saver a try and its really good if you don't have time to charge I think it shows 57days with phone off, hr off, screen to saver mode also
I think the torch should be directed toward the knuckles so that you can see what’s in front of you rather than walking with your hand across your chest to see if that makes sense?
So glad that i bought it these days. Found a fenix 7 pro with 500 euros at an offer and 2 days later saw the fenix 7 pro sapphire with 60 euro more…returned it and bought the sapphire one, currently while I am exploring it’s features, I realise how superior it is compared to a smartwatch.
Much appreciated. personally my friend had same dilemma and went for the older v 7 pro and have saved a tonne of cash. either way you'll get a great device. stay awesome my friend
Upgrading from a worn out Fenix 5X original version to the Fenix 7 Pro Sapphire Solar. Decided to reduce the size a smidge. Looking forward to the upgrade.
Awesome video, just pulled the trigger on this watch. I think the solar feature won it over for me vs the epix - i want a watch, not a smartphone screen on my wrist! Also, as a side note, is that a tactical wedding ring?
indeed it is silicone in case of a situation. I had the same feeling. I wanted great battery life and a super fancy screen wasn't super important for me. currently I charge once or twice a month in winter and the flashlight gets used very often, it's super handy. Really happy you enjoyed the review means a lot. glad to help you
Congrats! Your watch looks gorgeous. I was in doubt between the Fenix 7 Pro and the Epix 2 Pro. This review is helping me to go for the Fenix 7 Pro. I don't need the colourful display of the Epix 2 Pro. I like the Fenix 7 Pro because it is brighter than the Fenix 7. I was unable to read the time on the original Fenix 7 (too dark). My only doubt is if the maps on the Fenix 7 Pro deliver as much information as the Epix 2 Pro. The 51mm version looks too big on my wrist, which is a pity because I prefer the battery of the biggest option. Other than that, your watch is amazing.
thank you! as for mapping the difference the epix display has more vivid colours and personally the mapping is excellent on the F7 pro and you can even choose a 3 tier level of detail. mine is set to standard. the maps are so good that I wouldn't be without them now and then flashlight super useful
Hi, it looks like the screen of the 7 Pro is much better than the screen of the regular seven. Do you think this is really the case? It would be great to see a face-to-face review of these screens.
i believe they are the same but could be the sapphire glass? also my filming camera is kinda 👌 so that will help. i was in a REI store stateside and the staff were really helpful or see if you can find a garmin main dealer. To be sure checkout the garmin website. dont forget this is the Fenix 7 pro sapphire solar so their top spec watch in the line. The fenix 7 is a great watch and the previous generation fenix 6 is also very nice too (also cheaper and more deals about) just depends on what features arenkost important. although the battery on the 7 series has good reports from what i can tell and personally only needs 1 or 2 monthly charges.
Great vid! I have a question about screen protector and solar charging - do you think having a screen protector affects the solar charging aspect? Have you done any testing on the matter ? I have screen protector on my watch( 7 pro solar sapphire) because i do quite a lot of construction work and like to have that extra protection Cheers
thanks appreciated, apparently the effect is negligible but anything in front of the glass 'could' technically effect it. for me like you its due to heavy impacts. but in the strong sunlight still charges, so here in the uk as the sun isnt so strong, the solar effect is minimal. but i only charhe once maybr twice a month tops.
@@AlphaPews do you have any pointers as how to set up the battery-management profile to have the same charge frequency as you ? ( once or twice a month) Also - do you charge up to 100% when you do your charging? Cheers
@vasilijmaltsev2501 sure, 100% charge. turn phone notifications connection off, if you want even more battery life turn off heart rate. I have display to auto. But biggest draw is HR and phone connection.
Impressive review! I have a Fenix 6x sapphire, which has been great, but I am thinking of updating. I am an 84 year old man, with restrictive sports injuries, but I like playing with the features. I was looking at the Fenix 7X Pro solar. I like 51mm size and a bright screen. What would be your views on that, or what would you recommend. Many thanks. Terry Davis
thank you Terry, appreciate your kind words. so if you want a bright and clear screen get the epix Pro. if you need the solar get the fenix 7 Pro. I didn't get the X size as the screen size is about perfect and I can still wear this under a suit. the epix have an oled screen which is very nice. plus depending on your location the solar many not charge so well, so for menin the uk, only during the summer months will thensolar have greatest effect. However battery life is excellent and I personally think charging it once a month is superb. message me anytime and i will be happy to assist.

I honestly love the fenix 7 pro but I feel in the UK and European locations that don't benefit from strong sunlight most of the year. the benefit of the epix Pro gen 2 screen may have far better legibility and thus easier readout and brighter contrast. I'm even thinking to swap mine for a epix.

@@AlphaPewsHey man, great watch. Can you do a size comparison of the Instinct 2 solar tactical vs Fenix 7 pro solar? I'm currently use the AWU2, but I want to purchase Fenix 7 pro solar. What's your wrist size in centimeters?
@Tty85 hi buddy, i havent got the inst 2 sol tac any longer but the fenix 7 is a tad bigger so id assume thr instinct is around 45mm (not sure what garmin say) i can do a wrist measurement, no probs. the instinct 2 wears like a gshock and the fenix is comfy also.

I hope fenix 8 will have better solar since that is very important to me ... I don't understand why they sacrificeied solar over the logo at bottom of the watch? It could easily add up a few % with just that...
@Loco-gm8te the battery life so far is great and the layered glass has good solar coverage. I found battery saver mode seems to make it last forever. but only the instinct 2 solar has the claim to unlimited battery. but once you go fenix, you don't want to go back down the ladder
Im currently deciding between this and the Epix 2. Honestly, I would love the epix because of the always on, battery life and cheaper. But Im not sure if the display will be more difficult to read.
