      What type of paint would you use if you wanted to paint the metal hardware around the garage doors ?
      I don’t like the silver in my garage and wanted to go black. Also, what cleaning product to clean the metal as mine are filthy as it is an old garbage.
      Thanks for any tips. I’ve already have part of my wall done…brush/roller doing faux wood planks since wood is too expensive…got 1 thirteen foot wall done and my friend thought it was real wood😂

    If your a painter starting out and you want to make extra cash on the weekends, these type of jobs are perfect. I used to post up flyers at hardware stores, restaurants, etc. Painter specials for bathrooms, interior garages, patios, water blasting and exterior trim. Quick day jobs helped me build confidence and work towards my contractors license.

I have been a subscriber for several years and love all trades, constantly trying to improve and become more well-rounded. Watching your videos definitely helps. You always share some tricks, so I thought I would mention one to you as well. Have you ever tried masking with aluminum foil? A perfect opportunity would be to mask the exhaust and intake on the heater in the garage! You may have already used it, but if you haven't, it is super fast and wraps around most anything, plus it clings!! I started painting cars 28 years ago and learned about it from an old body man!
    Thanks, Kevin

    Hi Chris!!!
    I haven't watched this video yet, but I do have a question or two the answers of which would help me greatly and perhaps others also! I have a large garage that has been unpainted for 20+ years. By unpainted I mean uncovered drywall that was taped, mudded, and well sanded but nothing else. The walls are dusty and there are considerable cobwebs to be dealt with before I hope to paint this poor neglected area of my home.
    Obviously a serious cleanup needs to be completed before any coatings can be applied. Can you recommend any particular technique or materials to use to get this cleaning job done other than the obvious dusting and sweeping (vacuuming) of the drywall surfaces? Do you think a special primer would be needed since the drywall has been exposed for so long? Finally, I'm interested in a paint that will tend to hide minor imperfections. What would you use for this purpose?
    Blessings, Dan...

    • @meatball6930
      @meatball6930 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Normally you would primer those walls,but if you don’t really care because it’s a garage then just paint it. He did say in the video he did multiple coats & didn’t see any problems with coverage but with stuff flashing through sometimes that happens weeks later or over time

    • @Geekmasterproduction
      @Geekmasterproduction 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@meatball6930Damn yall lack comprehension. Customer just wanted paint on the walls, period. This is not one of those jobs where the level of quality finish wise matters. If the customer wanted a high level finish then yes, he would have primed and prepped as you do for that type of quality. Don't over think it.

    • @davehall3351
      @davehall3351 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Usually you will want to use a PVA primer on fresh drywall to seal it. It is a garage though, so the evenness that a primer provides isn’t really required like in a house. You could run into bonding issues if cleaning, especially on some of the metal hardware, but again, it is a garage. It was painted in an afternoon for under $1000 all in.

    I'm curious to know what your opinion would be on using a exterior paint on the inside of a garage just so that if I left the doors open work on a project for several days and weather came through and moisture was in the air and humidity was through the roof, the paint would protect the house. That was my original plan but after seeing this I want to get your opinion.

    • @lexandersantana8089
      @lexandersantana8089 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Exterior paints will stink to high heaven if used indoors, they are also softer because a house will get hot and cold and the paint must expand and contract with it

    • @lexandersantana8089
      @lexandersantana8089 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Paint needs air, the paint inside the machine won’t get hard but it may gel around the seals and solids in the paint may settle to the bottom causing unknown issues with your filters, the intake hose and the prime hose may form a seal which will prevent the machine from sucking up more paint if you leave paint in it long enough. Wrap up the intake/prime tube with plastic and it should be good for a week...probably a lot longer but a decent spray rig will cost a lot of money so you should take care of it

    So Chris,
    What's the difference between recycled and up cycled paint.

      Upcycled paint is when you mix a bunch of different types of paints to get another product. Recycled means you use the exact same paint for another project. When we as painters throw away paint, we have to make sure it’s a solid, using cat litter is how I get the wet paint into a solid. This prevents the paint from leaching in the dump. But we, as painters, should always try to find a place that can reuse the paint that we won’t need

      @@lexandersantana8089yes and every time you buy paint, you charged a 1 dollar recycle fee. Meaning that you can bring the paint back to where you bought it and they will take it for free to recycle or up cycle it
