    Great job, as long as you never need an electrical outlet.

      My walls already have electrical outlets so this is great for me but yeah, who doesn’t need outlets? 🧐

      There’s nothing wrong with running conduit outside of the wall afterwards

      @@austin3072I don’t know why more people don’t do this. I lived in Japan a couple years and lots of their homes had plumbing and electrical outside the walls and accessible via a simple covering designed to be removed and replaced by the owner with no tools. It’s was part of the plan and did not look ugly at all.

    I think no on the vapor barrier. Watch “The Build Show’s” episode on vapor barriers. You could ruin the walls.

    Dude is breathing that fine dry mineral rockwool dust. Growers use it and know to get it wet before handling. Open door and windows. Turn fans on high and blow out the air.

    They make it look so easy. How about showing us how you did the blue wall over the cinder blocks, and how you got the center of the flooring done at the end (nothing ever measures up perfectly to the center). Installing the drywall at the base, how did you measure the start...etc.

  • @randycheung6572

    Is there any insulation on the cinder block wall that’s shared with the house?

    • @JSLEnterprises
      @JSLEnterprises 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Any cinderblock wall shared with the house needs to be sheathed in either 5/8's xtype drywall or 3/4" fire retardant plywood.
      If you have a small 1 bay garage (10'x22') would recommend using pt 2x2 with 2-3/4" 3/16th tapcons (phillips flush), attached to the wall, 16" on center, and use comfortbat 80 (the more rigid rockwool insulation (1.5" thick, same as your 2x2), and sheath in what was mentioned earlier.
      Due to the garage being a more 'wet' space, would recommend foregoing the vaporbarrier to allow the garage to breathe. Its not a living space, so vapor barrier is not recommended. using sprayfoam beads to close up gaps from above is all that is recommended.

  • @aaronm8489
    @aaronm8489 4 ปีที่แล้ว +11

    Wouldn't the vapor barrier to the exterior of the rockwool defeat the moisture wicking properties. Any moisture that gets behind that vapor barrier will have to dry towards the inside of the house into the living space, potentially causing mildew behind the drywall, instead of drying to the exterior into the garage.

    • @jungleviper
      @jungleviper 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No point in putting a vapor barrier if your using rockwool

    • @gunnarholmes1546
      @gunnarholmes1546 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The only reason for the Vapor Barrier would be to prevent Fumes: Paint, Thinners, Gas & Exhaust, etc from getting into the home. Builder Matt Reisinger says yes, VB's aren't much use otherwise except along the coast.

    I'd love to see how they finished around the garage doors. Did they insulate and dry wall in the steele beams? Trying to find out if that would create a moisture issue or not.

    • @JSLEnterprises
      @JSLEnterprises 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      god forbid you're half way up the US, R22 is minimum, If you're up in NY/Southern Ontario CA, you'd need to start at R40, and go all the way up to R60 depending on how cold it gets, but thats for a living space. For the garage, with heater, you wont need much more than an r22 in the cold north, as it's only 'heated' when in use.
