    Thanks for the video, very interesting. I have a mango farm in Hawaii since 2012, on the relatively dry side of Oahu where it is known as mango country. We have varieties that thrive in sunny Mediterranean climate. I have not heard of most of the varieties you showed in this video. There are just so many amazing mango varieties. In Hawaii we have the Pirie, Rapoza, Golden Glow, Heyden, Mapulehu…and especially for the wet side of the island there is the Florigon and Fairchild…the list goes on. I love the fiberless fragrant Indian mangoes! I found that agricultural neem oil such as the Trilogy works really well as an organic fungicide to keep the mango trees healthy.

    • @ellena858
      @ellena858 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for the tip. How do you know when to use the Trilogy neem oil for anthracnose?

    • @alice10888
      @alice10888 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@ellena858 In general neem is safe to spray periodically as a preventative for a myriad of problems. Usually the products have directions for use on the label. The best type of neem oil for foliar spray is emulsified neem oil. Myself I only sprayed after prolonged periods of rain or high humidity, since my mango trees are on the relatively dry side of the island. If you’re in Florida or somewhere humid like that, maybe just spray every two weeks. But if ever I spotted mildew of any type on the leaves, I would spray right away and repeat every week or so until everything is cleared. If anthracnose is in advanced stage and there is tree rot, you’ve gotta try to cut out all the rotten bark with a knife and applied a paste all over the infected area made of copper powder fungicide like Bonide copper or something like that. Oh and the best preventative practice is to prune the trees once every 1 or 2 years (depending on how profuse a tree is), at the end of harvest season, to ensure ample airflow through the trees. There are some great videos on TH-cam about pruning mango trees.

    Most of those mangoes are treated with fungicides or they would not look that clean. I treat fruit trees for a living and am a graduate from UF in this field of study. Be careful and ask questions before eating the peels on any fruit.
