It's not worth it if you haven't bought anything then you should switch to the alt, but since you already have a one 2 mini sf it's not worth the money

I really do love my SF and I could easily recommend it to 90% of people but lately I've found myself more into custom boards and less scared to tear one down. the Alt seems like a great starting point for me to mess around with switches I;m more interested in and keycap sets as well as modding a bit (especially to fix the Alt's horrendous stabs). I agree it's not the best way to be cost effective but no hobby is. if you know what you like, then this isn;t for you. if you can't understand why someone else would do so, again, probably isn't for you. the SF is an outstanding board, especially for the price. i feel like I've outgrown the idea of being limited to cherry switches.

I have the drop ctrl, been thinking about getting an alt as I've been enjoying my ducky lately. The ctrl feels much more durable and much higher quality and it's very heavy by comparison, I understand that the alt is slightly lighter...my ducky is the mecha mini, I don't find myself really missing the f keys nor do I really mind the fn key to use the arrows, I guess I'm feeling slightly torn myself.
No UK layout option available for the Massdrop ALT. It might seem pedantic but I ain't paying over £100 for any keyboard that I'm not 100% happy with. Especially when Drop are charging significantly more than the competition just because they have a few extra lights and a metal frame. The ALT does look better but the price simply isn't justified.
You don't need to take apart the ALT to remove the stabs. There are little tabs at the top of the plastic 'housings' (bottom on the left-shift) that allow you to pop them out from the base. A small screwdriver or a pen works. I have the CTRL version of the keyboard and just did this earlier this week to lube up the stock stabs. Whole process took about 5 minutes and just had to remove a few caps and switches. Way better than taking the whole thing apart. And wow...did it make a huge difference.
So, one thing to note a year later per February of 2021, is that the One2 SF now comes with a few Kailh options. I'm rocking an all white SF with Kailh Box Jades that I ordered through MK and I am in LOVE.
Have a one 2 SF, but issues with the switches around wsad has led to buy the alt. And the spacebar and keys now sounds quite loud (MX Reds) so hoping to get the alt to avoid switch issues and to finally get into lubing switches
BTW Is it just me, but do Ducky boards have that really hard ping noise compared to other boards. I have a One 2 Mini, and I can hear that ping loud and clear whenever I type, and even when I did a sound test. Not sure if it is present in most boards with a metallic plate. I'm thinking of putting some putty on the sides to help prevent ping (holds the plate together tightly against the case), or if I should get me a different plate. Originally wanted to get a ceramic plate but source/stock is difficult to find, so I might just get a GH60 allu plate. I'm all up for modding my Ducky,
Cavstic for your information pal, if you joined the durgod discord server, you would know that the hades 68 is available to pre-order in HK Gaming website. Even HK gaming even confirmed it that it’s going to be released on March 8th in both black and white with pbt keycaps.
ALT using a 1.75u shift is more common for 2u shift so more keycap options. Drop is hotswappable AND reprogrammable. For example, I would be able to reprogram the PgUp and PgDn to dedicated volume and customize Fn+Arrow Keys for other media. Switched the Home key into Pause Break and End (Fn+Home) to Scroll Lock which are my binds for discord mute and deafen respectively. Also have GMK Pulse Base, Micons and Keyluminati so the right row buttons don't represent the original function. Also asides from just being reprogrammable with QMK, QMK also allows you to do custom light options if you're willing to write the code for it, so options are still more than presented in the video. The premium you pay for the ALT come customizability to fit each person's needs. Hotswap switches, dual port USB-C, reprogrammable buttons, and a more common keycap config using 1.75u over 2u.
I just want a good keyboard that has gateron silent switches. My top choice is the Ducky one 2 sf, but it only has cherry switches. It's also kind of disappointing that there is a Ducky mecha mini, but not a Ducky mecha sf.
Just one thing. You said the SF has shinethrough additional keycaps but I'm pretty sure ducky only started to provide shinethrough keycaps on the mecha mini models. Maybe later productions include them but certainly not all.
Cardcaro the first SF I got didn’t have them but the second one I got later on did come with them. I think all their boards after that date come with them since they just randomly throw them in after production.
you forgot to mention one very important thing. The Ducky uses a custom 2u right shift. As of this moment you basically can't get 2u shift keys. Workaround is to use the 0 key from numpad. This makes it impossibly to get replacement keycaps, if you don't like the 0 key as shift
I am looking for a low profile keyboard that has less height so I can ditch wrist rest. But Alt looks tall in the video. How tall is it from bottom to top of the key caps?
As much as I like my drop ALT I, I really, really like my Tofu65 from KBDfans even more. The Tofu is also hot-swappable, RGB (if you want), QMK programmable and a solid, beautiful aluminum (or acrylic) case. On top of that, you can start with more exotic switch options, such as ZeliosPC switches, NK Cream switches, Gateron Black Ink, Aliaz. Tofu65 is a bargain for what pay.
I have 2 questions: which if these has less "ping" noise (I hate ping so any reccomendations are accepted!), also I heard the drop keyboards have an issue where they register key presses twice have you experienced this?

Definitely the biggest reason but the alt is better for other reasons, like it looks better imo, software, better built and better starting switch options.
You don't need a Nordic layout tho. You just have to get used to a smaller enter button, other than that it's the same. ÆØÅ still works the same and the advantage of ANSI layout is more keycap sets are available.
Right with you. Custom nordic caps are hard to come by too. With ANSI as well, you might have to remap the right alt key to (non-us pipe key) for the lesser-than and greater-than brackets

You forgot to mention that ducky is getting software soon and the customization is actualy much wider in ducky even on on keyboard customization, and buying 70€ more epensive keyboard just to take it apart and mod it so it rattles like cheaper one is wuite sad
As a drop alt user, I think the drop is a really good option but the SF is a different story. There are more features on the Alt, hot swap, etc. But the SF is more for the average dude who just wants to play some games. As a gamer, I like the drop alt, I care about looks. So in my book, I would prefer the drop alt for gamers because you can easily just change the whole feel in under an hour.
QMK is obviously better. The issue is that most people can't program. It's more of an enthusiest feature than anything. It seems like you don't realize that drops configurator is more of a simplification of QMK. QMKs cool because you can do literally anything with the board if you can think of it and have a little skill/knowledge in programming for it. Equivocating the two options is pretty disingenuous. But yeah, the hotswap alone is worth a 70$ premium in this space for prebuilts. Also the alt is only 82% the price of what you quoted it at (as about 2ce the price of the ducky 2 sf=218 without shipping) which is extra disingenuous. Please just do the math next time.

It would’ve been better to compare the ALT to Logitech G Pro X since it also has hot swap PCB for your personal switch choice.

Yea... cherry switches are trash except for cherry black and clear but both need to be modded to perform well.

i would buy the rk61 pro over the ducky tbh. The pro version got a lot of updates (PBT keycaps, gateron switches and an aluminium case).
