    Good luck on this part of your ADHD journey! I'm 24 and recently got officially diagnosed with ADHD but I have Major Depression too. So my doctor is hesitant on prescribing stimulants as my depression is more of a priority. It's always nice seeing others with ADHD find medication that works for them bc we all know how it affects our lives. So again, hope it works out for you. Some days I drink coffee and the focus and clear mind is amazing so I can only imagine how good actual medication could be

      Be careful, some times doctors confuse ADHD symptoms with depression. I'd argue that your brain disorder has the priority especially considering the psychological comorbidities

    I was diagnosed with ADHD and anxiety and adjustment disorder just before I turned 33. I was put on a low dose of Guanfacine. Within 15 minutes, my mind was calm, I could focus on my work, I slept so much better that night. I was stress eating a lot and I stopped within a couple weeks. It has been a game changer for me.

    I was diagnosed a few months ago at age 41. My whole life I've have Panic Attacks and Depression here and there. But being diagnosed with ADHD now explains so much!
    Insurance denied Vyvanse and Adderall ER 🙄 After three prior auths they finally approved Concerta 18mg. The generic version. I have never taken any medication in this cartegory and I'm I've got two littles here at home, so I'm nervous to start taking it. However, I'm also absolutely sick of feeling like I have been every day and I desperately need a change. Thank you for sharing your experience!

    Have you had a complete Thyroid work up? I had been diagnosed with ADHD for many years to find out that I had Hashimoto’s Disease and not producing enough Free T3 (racing thoughts, cold, NO energy) then depression because I had the desire to get my daily work and chores done; but no energy. I lost almost all my passions. It took 12 years and over 18 different doctors to find my root cause. Hashimoto’s is 95% a female disease and as a 40 year old then... Doctors are taught in school “ That if you hear a thundering of hoofs behind you, assume it is horses”. She told me to tell all of my doctors in the future that I am the Zebra amongst all the horses. She said “they will understand”. Good luck!

      Thx for your insight. I did have my thyroid and hormones tested. All normal. However, not a Full work up for it, so something to look into.

    • @palmettokid54
      @palmettokid54 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@EnjoyingLifesJourney The standard test is TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone) and T4 levels, maybe antibodies. These can all be normal and you’re not converting the T4 to T3 which is Free T3, and Free T4 is how much excess is left over when the pituitary signals normal level. A complete work up is necessary. Free T3 IS your energy and metabolic control hormone. Not enough T3 and free T3 equals what you are describing; as was I. For years. Good luck. Luck is not a kosher word. 🕊¿

    Are you still on medication? I was on ritalin as a kid, hated it, smoked weed for years, 34 now, started taking straterra (atomoxitine) made me sick as a dog, weird as side effects. Took it for 3 months. Taking Concerta 18mg for thw last month, massive improvements, no side effects, stayed 27mg this morning, hasnt kicked in yet.

      Yeah, I'm currently on Vyvanse 50mg daily around 5:45am and an additional 10mg of Adderall around 2:30pm on long work days. It was a 6 month journey to find the right medication and my dose changes every few months. Good luck on your journey.

    Noooooooooo, not concerta! I'd rather have Adderall any day. Worst side effects EVER. Ive taken Ritalin, Adderall, stratera, and concerta .... Work THROUGH the weirdness of the first week. Clammy hands, nervousness, anxiety, possible picking or plucking of hair and skin. Nervous habits can increase ten fold.

    • @EnjoyingLifesJourney
      @EnjoyingLifesJourney  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah my Dr prefers Adderall but said the supply has been running low so she was afraid to prescribe it and me run the risk of not being able to get it.

      5 days into my concerta prescription, and I have cold feet as soon as it kicks in. to the warm shower i go! Anxiety is also increased.
      trying to stay together, but for example my toes got cold 9:22 this morning, not astonishingly cold to the touch but this was ~1 hour after i took 18mg, at 8:27.

      @@kiranpatel7759 cold sweats, ah yes. And a little extra too much info from me over here but for men it also causes body temp to change with effects the size and growth of the penis and testicles. Concerta made me crazy and turned my spouse into super b17ch. I am so hooked on caffeine these days because of my amphetamine issues as a kid that its not even funny. My heart is going to explode one day. Old school Monster brand energy drinks have 160mg of Caff in it. New bang drinks have 320 because they legally had it changed (weird timing considering covid, and heart problems recently....) And now I cant get enough. I am trying so hard to break this habit but its almost as bad as quitting smoking... Also beware the "picking" and pulling eyelashes, eyebrow hairs, little hairs on your body, knit picking, pimple pulling, hair yanking, nail biting, etc. Nervous habits go wild. I pulled out every single eyelash I had because they "looked too crooked"
