  • In this video, I show you one of the most useful car features that I have on my Honda CR-V. It is actually called the Brake Hold feature, and is extremely useful if you are driving in a major city that has a lot of stop and go traffic. It basically keeps the brake pedal pressed down once you have brought the car to a complete stop, and then releases it once you press on the gas pedal. It is extremely useful and I absolutely love using it.

    It’s best on a very top of a steep hill so you don’t roll backwards waiting for traffic.

      There's a warning from Honda "Activating the automatic brake hold system on steep hills or slippery roads may still allow the vehicle to move if you remove your foot from the brake pedal.
      If a vehicle unexpectedly moves, it may cause a crash resulting in serious injury or death.
      Never activate the automatic brake hold system or rely on it to keep a vehicle from moving when stopped on a steep hill or slippery roads." Just a friendly reminder. 😊

    I understand it now but just can’t see the need for this. I’ll never use it.

    When brake hold is activated, are the brake lights at the back lighted up? or it actually goes off? And what happens when you actually shift to Neutral Gear after brake hold comes on?

    • @fansgalorellc621
      @fansgalorellc621 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The brake lights function just as they would if you were to continue to keep your foot on the brakes. As for shifting into neutral it’ll just keep the brake on as well.

      @@fansgalorellc621 if you have a Subaru with this feature if the car is also in cruise control mode you'll get an image of back of the car and anytime the brake lights are on the brake lights in the image in your Dashboard Light Up.

    Will the Hold still work if your seatbelt isn't buckled?

  • @jericoleandrocortado9735
    @jericoleandrocortado9735 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    do you still use break hold when you're on a complete stop for a long period of time in traffic or do you go for the traditional full stop + shift to neutral + electronic break?

    • @fansgalorellc621
      @fansgalorellc621 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you’re in traffic you leave it just in D and use it so you don’t have to keep your foot on the brake. It’s actually pretty nice if you’re at a stop light for a long time.

    Is it alright to turn on the auto hold ALWAYS or all the time?

    • @robertknight4672
      @robertknight4672 ปีที่แล้ว

      That should be fine. Some cars don't remember you had the feature on your septum off and you'll have to turn it on and getting yourself.

    • @ArChi285
      @ArChi285 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@robertknight4672 thanks, but that is not fine to put on the auto-hold all the time. You really have to put it off if not necessary. I got a car with auto-hold and it sometimes make a noise if it is active and you press the pedal.

    Dumbest feature I’ve ever seen on a car. Just another electronic sensor to go bad and cause other issues. What’s the point of this. Have we become so lazy that we can’t keep our foot on a brake pedal at a light or in traffic.

    Not sure what Honda was thinking with this hot mess as very few know how to understand it. Honda, why not just have the original emergency brake? I never would have bought the car with this ridiculousness!
