This system worked very well on the 2023 Honda CRV Hybrid. All the features you mentioned worked on this SUV. The following distance can be a little tricky, but overall Honda executed this feature very well indeed.
keep in mind that lane keep assist can be fooled easily, I find it gets confused when passing exit lanes, the steering wheel veers into the exit lane rather than staying in the lane I am in so I have to force it to stay on track....also I have found that interplay between shadows and sunlight can fool it, I drive under an overpass which bends across the freeway and throws a shadow that bends to the left, the sunny side of the freeway then appears to bend that way and again fools the LKAS into steering left. Happens every single time I pass that section of my freeway. Otherwise it's a really handly feature, basically just need to rest your hands on the wheel and the vehicle does all the steering, if you take your hands off though it will start screaming at you until you put them back on and if you don't take the hint it will turn off the LKAS
3:57 is absolutely essential for everyone to pay attention to. Stay alert and aware and always pay attention. The tech may make mistakes. Like he said, it's a driver AID and NOT a full takeover of the vehicle.
Just purchased a 2025 Honda Civic this was a life saver because the owners manual is difficult to understand because of the frequent use of abbreviations and pictures you need a magnifying glass see. Even though he's using a 2022 Honda vehicle it fully explained how to use these features.
I remember when I came get my new Honda , the car dealership person took me for a test run with it and showed me the cruise control mode and I thought it was really cool but I forgot how to do it so thanks for this detailed video
Nice, informative video! I just picked up the 2023 Honda Civic Hatchback Sport Touring today and an excited to try the ACC out. You made it very easy to understand.
Recently got a '24 Civic Sport with this feature. Coming from an '07 Civic Si, this thing feels like a spaceship. Going to miss the manual gearbox, but this'll definitely make bumper to bumper traffic easier to deal with.
Really a good video! Thanks! I have seen that the some Honda has also the "traffic jam assist": but what is the difference with the ACC + LKAS like yours?!? The LKAS goes above 65 KM/h and under the traffic jam assist. But your ACC + LKAS do it also for all speeds
I didn't find any of this in my owner's manual under cruise control. I tried to figure it out myself and boy was I all wrong...lol. That self braking has me nervous, so to speak...😅.
I have hrv 2023 sport. My low speed control dont work.. (i guess) cause although im on cruise control and I press the low speed buttom, it dont display in the board.. like mo car and bars (as shown in the video).
My grandma has a 2021 Honda CRV and it has Honda's Adaptive Cruise Control with Low Speed Follow and Lane Keep Assist and i have to say it doesn't work very well on a 2021 Honda CRV Believe me, I've tried it so if anyone is looking to have a 2021 Honda CRV as their first car all because of the Adaptive Cruise Control with Low Speed Follow i would tell them not to get a 2021 Honda CRV with Adaptive Cruise Control with Low Speed Follow just from my experience with Honda's Adaptive Cruise Control with Low Speed Follow and all those cars that have level 2 hands free drivers assistance systems out there like BMW's Highway Assistant and General Motors Super Cruise and the only Level 3 drivers assistance system allowed in only 2 States in the United States right now which is Mercedes Benz Drive Pilot and Drive Pilot only works in traffic jams so you should try it and make a video on it
the perepheral vision is terrible, if you are turn on a sidecurb, the car would start to acc like crazy, it's not smooth when you are driving in residencial area
If the Adaptive Cruise has brought the car to a complete stop, you can hit the gas lightly or click Resume on the steering wheel to get it moving again. This is very similar to other systems I've used from other manufacturers
Thanks Dietrich fir this lkas and adaptive cruise demo! Planning on buying the new 23 Pilot Trailsport. Question: with only lane keep assist activated, does the system generally work well on surface streets? I currently have a KIA and here in LA, it's such a great feature when the car is essentially keeping itself in the middle of the lane. Does the Honda system do this reliably? Thanks!
I haven't driven a new Pilot with the Adaptive Cruise with Stop and Go (believe it or not that's new to Pilot for 2023!) but it should follow the lanes because it has the LKAS and the Traffic Jam Assist standard on the Trailsport, so it should do what you need it to do.
Yes, but if you’re using adaptive cruise on a road like that make sure you’re paying attention. The car will lose sight of its target car it’s locked on to around a curve and may accelerate when it isn’t the best thing for the conditions
I can’t get this to work, the adaptive button does nothing. I just bought a 2020 Accord Sport. Has the adaptive button but it doesn’t engage. I’ve only tried on the highway at speed (75+) so do I have to be below a certain mph? Is this only a slow speed system? Do I have to have lane keep assist armed for it to work (I hate it yanking the wheel around in my hands so disable it). Unfortunately, as the car fax showed that the steering wheel had been replaced, I’m fearful that this wasn’t wired properly on installation. May have to take a trip to the dealer.
The system should work at speeds up to 90 MPH. If the steering wheel was replaced that might be the issue. It might not even be the wiring, the cars' computer might just need to be reprogrammed or something
@@CarDietrich hmmmm. Will have to go get diagnostics then. Unfortunately, I neglected to test cruise on my test drive (actually I did, I just didn’t try the adaptive button assuming since cruise functioned it would as well). Live and learn I guess, hopefully it’s not a major cost to fix and is something like a software update as it would be very convenient to have. Appreciate the quick response.
@@CarDietrich found out the problem. Was on my way to dealer, and I held down the ACC button for three seconds. This switched it from normal cruise to ACC, and it now works. Don’t know why it needs to be switched from normal cruise to ACC, but all’s well that ends well. Thanks again.
Actually, good question, I never did explain that. The answer is nothing, the car controls the throttle and the brakes when the adaptive Cruise control is engaged. You should always pay attention and be ready to hit the brakes if someone cuts you off hard, and you can briefly hit the gas to get the car moving again if it brings you to a stop, but other than that your feet do nothing!
Yes, as long as it is locked on to the car in front of it. But it is not self-driving, you need to keep your eyes on the road and be ready to intervene if necessary
I wonder if these systems make driving more dangerous. Instead of being fully focused on what’s going on outside the car you focus on managing more complicated technology, as well as trying to make sure the car is driven safely with full awareness. In a stress situation the technology could be adding information overload increasing the likelihood of a mistake. Just wondering…. It would be interesting to have accident stats where technology played a contribution.
Well insurance typically charges less on cars that have more smart driving features so I’m sure the data is out there that shows this technology helps avoid accidents.
HRV 2024 Sport: I set the Line Assist button (green), then I set the ACC button, which now is white, but when I press RES/SET it says the vehicle speed is too slow. I tried at 17 mph, at 12mph and 30mph. It only worked at 30 mph. But isn't it supposed to work below 25 mph? That's the whole meaning of "low-speed follow". What I'm doing wrong?
You have to be going over 20 mph to activate the ACC, but then once it is set it will function at speeds below 20 mph and bring the car to a complete stop with low speed follow.
Does the steering assist stay on when there are breaks in the left and right lines on the road while crossing a traffic signal or any crossing? I have a nissan with the same features but every time I cross a traffic signal where the lines have a brief break, the system leaves the steering assist.
Per the Honda Owners Manual: "Press and hold the Interval button (the one that adjusts your distance from the car ahead) for one second. Cruise mode selected appears on the driver information interface for two seconds, and then the mode switches to Cruise."
Wish I had this in my 2023 Ridgeline. Maybe I do, but it doesn’t work. My vehicle slows down to the speed of the vehicle in front of it until the speed decreases to between 25 and 30 mph. Once it drops to that speed it displays a message I’m paraphrasing here, “ speed to slow for adaptive cruise control “ once I get that message the vehicle stops breaking and you are no longer in cruise control mode. No one at the dealership really knows how it’s supposed to work, and they told me everything is fine. ???
That is how your car works. On the current Ridgelines and the Passports and the older Pilots (and other older Honda models) the system cannot bring the car to a complete stop, it disables itself below 20 MPH.
No. The Lane Keeping Assist online reads the lane lines when they are present and helps you keep the car centered in the lane. Neither system is designed to steer around obstacles, at least in its current iteration
The system is specifically meant to recognize lane markings, IE white lines or yellow lines. Do not trust it to sense the side of the bridge, take control of the steering yourself in that scenario.
Yes, press and hold the button you use to change the following distance (Honda calls this the 'interval' button) for one second. Cruise mode selected appears on the driver information interface for two seconds, and then the mode switches to standard Cruise control.
