I knew this, but your explanation and demonstration made it that much simpler. Thanks. This is a simple yet very beneficial feature. As far as I'm concerned, all cars ahould come with it.
@@wesfudge you're not wrong lmao but its also a convenience feature too so I'm not complaining but yeah people should learn the basics of driving first especially stick shift before moving onto more adv features like this
Thank you for making the video. I experienced this yesterday. I will have to suggest a new video. This happened to me yesterday while on drive thru. The light turned red on the parking break and released the break and it would not release. I panicked and could not set it to drive. I turned off the car instead. That was my only option at that point. I followed the process to take the break off and I was finally able to drive. Ugh… I’m at whataburger. It’s imperative I get my dinner and keep the line moving 😜 Nissan smh 🤦🏻♀️
For stop and go. If Brake hold is engage does it disengage when you add throttle and you need to press the brake hold again? For a manual transmission, i assume still need to keep foot on the clutch if in gear at lets say 1st gear in traffic and you don’t want to keep shifting to neutral each time. Want to clarify.
Aww so cute how you leave your number. Wonder if it's still the same after 5 years. Lol thanks for this video helped me out this morning understand what the hell the button is for.
I’ve had my Honda for two years and I just now today noticed this button. Thanks for the video explanation! I noticed it while driving on the interstate so I must’ve accidentally hit it. Does it cause any problem to use this feature while driving on highway or interstate?
What about the brake lights? With brake hold on & stopped, then I press the gas to move slowly move forward about 2-3 feet…do the brake lights turn off once I step on the gas? Also I noticed while in a drive-thru while brake hold is on, when stopped & then moving forward a few feet & stop again, all I do is lift off the gas & the car stops.
Hi, I noticed that my 2019 honda accord rear break pad wear faster than the front breake pad and i use the auto hold function very often is this problem related to auto hold? thanks
I’m still a little confused when I turn my car on do I need to have the electronic park on or off? Can I just use the pedal park I’m consufed on the button what is it exactly for???
Usually in cars with automatic transmission (with no brake hold), if one stops car with drive mode engaged and press brake - it puts pressure on both clutch and brake pads. Is it also same in case of brake hold? If that's the case, would it be still better to just shift to neutral to keep clutch and brake pads relaxed? Thanks
Does the parking break make a swishing sound outside the car when you engage it and disengage it? Is that normal? I recently had my door open and heard that noise which i hadn't heard before because my door has always been closed when putting on the parking brake. I have a 2016 HRV. thanks for responding.
I think the reason for the feature is for the manual transmission, so that way you can put it on when you're on a hill so you're not trying to heel-toe at a standstill
Hi J, Is this feature only for automatic cars? I recently picked up a MANUAL TYPE R. It has "brake hold" but I suspect it might be not applicable ? Cheers.
If you are stopped using the brakes won't cause wear the rotor must actually be spinning to cause wear to the pad it will cause the same wear as just using the brakes normally it just allows you to not have to hold the pedal while stopped
It just turns the feature on. It won't hurt the car. It just means when you come to a stop it would hold the brake for you, and you could release your foot. That is all
I have it on my 6-speed manual 2018 Civic Sedan EXT. And I rarely need or use it, even facing up a steep hill at a stop. I'm good enough with the accelerator and clutch that I can start out from a dead stop up a steep hill without the car drifting backwards much, maybe just an inch or so. Starting from a dead stop facing uphill has been the bane of inexperienced stick shift users since the early 20th century. People get scared because they are afraid of not getting it right when time to let out the clutch and give it gas and stalling the car out, killing the engine. Or worse yet, allowing the car to drift backwards too far and hit the car behind them. But I've been driving sticks since I was 6 years old on a farm in the 1960s!! I can handle a clutch car just fine.
I have a manual.. interested in trying this out... on older cars, sometimes the parking brake does not work and you better hope you're not in a traffic jam going uphill but another car just half inch away from your butt
So let’s say i am in a huge traffic and because i don’t wanna press any paddles i can just relax my legs and keeps my finger on hold brakes to stop and go my car? Is that the case?
I have a 2020 CRV. How do you get the Brake Hold to automatically be activated when you start your car? I don't want to have to press the button each time I start my car. Also, my CRV defaults to having the engine turn off each time I come to a complete stop. I know I can press the button to deactivate it, but how can I get it set up to not be on when I start my car? Thanks.
Why do you need a button for ‘brake hold’? All tesla vehicles are automatic for this feature. This button serves only to confuse the driver. A video even has to be made to explain it. 😢
We need more people who can explain confusing things in 2 minutes instead of 13 freaking minutes
Agreed. I go to TH-cam looking for fast answers too.
They made 13 minutes video because they want to chase the youtube's viewing minutes. The longer the better for their ads income
1. Agreed
2. Brake Hold isn't a confusing thing at all tho
Totaly agree. I searched for 30 minutes, then Justng told everything in minute. Thank you.
I knew this, but your explanation and demonstration made it that much simpler. Thanks. This is a simple yet very beneficial feature. As far as I'm concerned, all cars ahould come with it.
so true
The auto brake hold is soooo important! Every car should have it along with blind spot monitoring.
@@wesfudge you're not wrong lmao but its also a convenience feature too so I'm not complaining but yeah people should learn the basics of driving first especially stick shift before moving onto more adv features like this
You are confused between essential and convenience.
So basically its cruise control for the brake. Thanks!

Work well in New York City. I use it all the time.
And active cruise control where it stop behind the other car
1:20 This could literally have saved Anton Yelchin's life... critical feature all cars should have!
So does it automatically release at any point, or you have to push again to release?

only in city driving where youll be stopping alot
thanks, never really understood what this feature was for in new cars
I’m still a little confused when I turn my car on do I need to have the electronic park on or off? Can I just use the pedal park I’m consufed on the button what is it exactly for???
Button should have a light too , to suggest engaged ?
Does 2500 GMC AT4 or AT4X have brake hold feature?
Should the car make a sound when you release it?
So it is ok to drive with it while it is active. The green light turn red I do not know if that it is ok driving with it on. I did not know it was on.
So when you press it again it turns off and you just put your foot on the brake?

Just discovered this today! Awesome feature
Tesla invented the ‘brake hold’ feature, and is standard on all it’s vehicles. Except it’s always enabled. No need for a ridiculous button.
I wanna know how do I stop the parking break from coming on everytime I turn my car off
I am having problem to remove brake hold. Csn u help please
Is it okay to just stay at D while the autohold is on during traffic? Or I need ti put it in Neutral?
Thank you perfect explanation 👌🏾

How does the brake button work if it's a standard?
Before I know the hold button use, I drive my car when it was on in the screen. Can you tell what will happen in the car?
I think the reason for the feature is for the manual transmission, so that way you can put it on when you're on a hill so you're not trying to heel-toe at a standstill
The vehicle also offers Hill Start Assist for automatics and manuals for that reason.
Should we activate brake hold all the time or should we activate it only on red lights. Will.it effect brakes if we activate all the time
This is really up to you. it should not deplete the brakes sooner to my knowledge.
@@JustinFullerReviews thanks
Thanks for the vid, What does the LKAS on the top right of the cluster stand for? Its next to the ACC which i believe stands for Auto Cruise Control.
Lane Keep Assist
Great info I’ve had a 2020 civic and didn’t know
does the 2018 or 2019 honda civic sedan (Lx, Ex) have these features?
They do.
Braks hold for uphill starts ??
Thank you. It helps to know how to use it.
Hi J,
Is this feature only for automatic cars? I recently picked up a MANUAL TYPE R. It has "brake hold" but I suspect it might be not applicable ?
Cheers.
hmm, never use it that much, I think I'll give it a try, is using it consistently has any negative effect on break pads?
If you are stopped using the brakes won't cause wear the rotor must actually be spinning to cause wear to the pad it will cause the same wear as just using the brakes normally it just allows you to not have to hold the pedal while stopped
This button got jammed. Any tips how to unjam it??
How long is it safe to hold this brake hold? is it okay to stop for like 3 minutes? Doesnt it damage the brake?
What happens if I press this while driving because my dog pressed it while I was driving and I’m a lil stressed about it
It just turns the feature on. It won't hurt the car. It just means when you come to a stop it would hold the brake for you, and you could release your foot. That is all

I am so buying a Honda Clarity, I can't wait.
That parking brake can be automatic if you pull up and hold for at least 4 sec. If will engage automatically when you put the lever to P.
But when you press has, the break hold light on the dashboard is still on? Do you know why?
Does it work on steep slopes?
Very useful, thank you 😊

You can leave it on and it will engage whenever you come to a stop.

It is not. Brakehold holds the brake until it is time to take off again It allows your legs to rest while at a stop.

Don't believe there is an option to set brake hold on as default. The same goes for idle start stop. The default is to be on.
@@JustinFullerReviews Thanks. You confirmed my thoughts. I have not been able to locate where I could accomplish either one.
Ty! I was wondering the use of the same button in my civic 2020.
Does the “ p “ button park it’s self?
It does not.
how do i turn it off
My CR-V from 2017 has it & I know it’s just a convince feature but once you have a car that has it you will never wanna get into a car that doesn’t!

plz contact me would love to know if u guys deliver cars like to the Caribbean like Jamaica
enrique mclaughlin you could get me a car too :)
That is not something we offer.
Hi buddy
I have a question
A warning light is on the dashboard, it’s an upside down exclamation mark in a circle.
What does it mean?
Tire Pressure Monitoring Light. it means one of your tires is low on air.
In case you lost brakes you need hand brake to stop the car. This electric brake is useless in emercency situations.
U think pull the pulling and holding the parking brake is the emergency brake
Cool stuff

excuse me sir

Drive through bank. Haha

Justin give me a brake.
it would better be a NOBREAK button since in most situations anybody uses this
If you lost brakes. This electric brake is useless. You need hand brake to stop the car. So you will crash.
Sounds like useless junk.
