Another tip! Use the spoon to throw the hot oil on the bake whie its frying and this makes it swells faster and evenly.❤❤

Reza M Thanks for sharing. Usually that’s only necessary if the bakes don’t swell. It’s actually a little dangerous if you’re not a pro in the kitchen too. Increases chances of burns.

So, I just made these, and they came out beautiful. How simple and perfect. I did not roll them out or use a cookie cutter, because ain't nobody got time fe all ah dat when you hungry! Where i come from bakes are not supposed to be homogenous or perfect looking. I made the dough in less than a minute, in my Kitchenaid stand mixer, and formed them by hand. I got roughly the same amount you did. I stuffed them with codfish and took them to the head. Thanks for sharing, it will be come my goto bakes recipe. 😍😍

I worked in Georgetown and McDoom for pritipaul Singh helping captains better their tuna fishing methods. My crew taught me how to make this it was first bread I had ever made and it was a success ( with some help cause they wanted to come out right). I wasn't used to the accent of the Guyanese yet so I thought they were saying"BIG instead of Bake 😂😂the boss set me straight. Anyway great experience eating the different fruits, fish and other dishes of Guyanese food. I never thought I would make bread in my lifetime but I'm glad I know now. Thanks for this video I got notebook with recipe wet so you refreshed my memory , now I can make for my crew of Filipinos here in Hawaii and introduce them to a new bread. I can't wait to enjoy this simple yet wonderful bread

I LOVE IT ALL....Fried Dumpling, Johnny Cake, Fried Bakes, Floats and a friend of mine from Africa says they have similar and call them Pancakes and also puff puff ...all with just about the same ingredients, flour, rising agent, fat, water, sugar, salt, sticky dough, deep fry. I LOVE the variations and equally the similarities with our countries/islands and people...what a wonderful thing 🥰🥰🥰 I might try this recipe, but I am pretty sure my friends are going to tell me it's fried dumpling and not fried bakes 😂😂😂
