I just made these bakes. I had tried years ago, but they were awful lol. These came out absolutely perfect. Thanks so much Natasha for taking the time to do these videos. They've really helped me throughout this pandemic. Being able to make good Trini food, as I'm away from home, and can't visit right now, has brought comfort. Thanks again.

Well I just try this recipe 09/09/2022, except I didn’t use the margarine.
I also added, nutmeg which I love in my bakes, some cinnamon And a few drops of essence.
From now on, this is how I will make mine without the margarine 🧈 as well!
It was so soft, I love it, thanks Natasha!👍🏽👍🏽

Natasha…. Thanks for sharing your amazing recipe. All I’ve ever been able to achieve before were fried Crix…..,lol. I followed your steps and I was excited with my results. My bakes were light and fluffy. I hated kneading dough before, but now with the expectation of making first class bakes, I’m more inclined endure the feel of dough on my hands.

Thank you so much for this video and recipe. In my country we make the same thing but called babakau. I'm from fiji. One of my grandmothers used to make the best kind where it was light and airy and not chewy and doughy like most kind people make. Nobody could make it exactly like her until today when I tried this out for my brunch. It was so good and exactly like hers. Thank you so much again for this

Disclaimer: I am not trying to be a stoosh foodie. In St. Lucia, what you made is called floats. Many people call floats bakes too. Never heard someone call bakes floats. Floats are lighter compared to bakes, which are not as airy on the inside because the dough is thicker,so they are more filling.I grew up on bakes at home. :-) Are the terms bake and float used interchangeably in Trinidad? Thanks for the recipe. You are one of my go to TH-camrs when I feel like making a Trini dish.
