I went to college with Linda Taylor. You can find her playing in lot of settings with a lot of artists. She is most visible on the TV show Who's Line Is It Anyway.
That must be Janice-Marie Johnson. She's wonderful. I love watching her; she plays a mean bass, has a great voice, and you can tell she's having a good time.
1978 I was 13 years old and this song was burning up the radio airwaves. Every dance party I went to throughout my teenage years, this song was played. I always loved this song. Thank you for posting this.
I truly hope that when its all said and done that Janice-Marie Johnson will get the respect she deserves as both a singer/musician and a consummate professional when it comes to performing. And to have done this for as long as she has done it, and still look/sound as good as she did back in the day? Much respect to you Miss Thang.
as a pro musician... I'm humbled... way humbled... Janice... playing bass, singing, working the crowd, smiling, dancing in HEELS!... DID I MENTION THE BASS? I would be standing solid as a rock looking like I was passing a kidney stone playing that part! lolol
A kick-ass performance. This song is 40+ years old and I think even the young folks today would get this. And this lady, Linda, on the electric guitar is shredding hard core!
Thank you so much @MrFrankybottom for listing the line-up of the band; the drummer is not credited on the DVD nor anywhere else on the internet (an injustice too him as well as the fabulous percussionist) . . . So, thank you for making me a little bit happier :)
She was simply amazing. WOW! What talent. Not many people have this level of pure talent. She did it all while killing it on the bass. vocals, playmanship and phrasing spot on. Worked the crowd while playing. How many people can do that?
Quite a few, actually. Sting for one... but loads of performers who may have opted to hire someone else to play bass - often at the urging of record companies.
Janice looks and sounds amazing. This is one of the best dance songs ever created. Several decades later this is still a favorite on the dance floor. 😃
It was in my college days when discotheques were everywhere in the 70’s. I still remember hitting multiple places on weekends and dancing till they closed at 2am.
Queen Janice! Killer bass line - the groove is incredible - and she’s singing while playing - this is the stuff of the gods - A Taste of Honey. A master class in musicianship. It doesn’t get any better than this.
@ kss rider. AND, making it look easy!! I’ve been a bass player since 1973 and I know I can play the bass to this but definitely not while singing it and dancing like that. She simply kicks ass!! That’s right, She Bad!! She reminds me of Frieda Payne. Also Hot!!

I don't care what anyone says,, WE HAD THE BEST music in the 70's and 80's without a doubt. During the disco days, every song got you on the floor. Men and women stayed in shape from it too. hahahaha. Ahhhhhhhh the good 'ol days. There will never be another time in history like it was then. THEE BEST!
70s to mid 80s plus 60s Motown stuff is my favorite and I'm only 47 (born in 1973). I feel music started going down after 1986. Love it! Most people my age and younger really didn't get into anybody older than Madonna. My top favorites besides disco classics are Diana Ross, Donna Summer, and the Pointer Sisters. For male singers, it's Smokey Robinson and Lionel Richie all the way baby.
Just a massive “CLASSIC DISCO SONG. Very positive words, special song of the 7O’, getting the tears glow then and now , over all these years. Boogie it all, memories then and now - Just dance the whole night away until morning daylight. Cool baby, good for the mind!!!

No doubt thee most underrated bassist ever. Please let's give her the credit she's long overdue. This is a bad ass bass line. Like disco or not, you can't deny she brings da funk!
I so miss these days! Nothing was better than dressing up, picking up your dressed to the nines date in a T-top Thunderbird or Cordoba for a night of dancing fun at the DISCOs in Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, Orlando and Atlanta. The Lime Light, Tiffany's, Speak Easy, Xanadu's to name a few.
As a lady bassist now, lol I would've never thought that this song would mean so much more now today. lol I used to play this song on my walkman playing connect 4 with my sister back in 1999, just one of my dad's many dj tapes from his youth. This brings joy...RIP Dad
This woman is one big reason why us "old people" are usually not impressed by the Taylor Swifts of the world.
Thank you in 2024

listen to "Delicious" by Pure Sugar and see if it sounds similar.
Her ability to play bass well and sing simultaneously is uncannily impressive.
I'll never understand how bass players can do that. Drummers too!
