A TASTE OF HONEY | Boogie Oogie Oogie Live on The Midnight Special NBC Studios, Burbank, CA September 22, 1978 𝐈 𝐃𝐎 𝐍𝐎𝐓 𝐎𝐖𝐍 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐑𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐓𝐒 𝐓𝐎 𝐓𝐇𝐈𝐒 𝐌𝐔𝐒𝐈𝐂!!!
I was asked by a friend if I could take his niece visiting California from Montana to the Midnight Special. He worked at NBC Studios as a set painter and got us tickets to see A Taste of Honey … they played Ooogie Boogie … those girls could jam on their guitars especially the one on the bass guitar .. sang live and were so good and pretty! We were right next to Wolfman Jack who introduced the band and I got his autograph AND got to be in the shot with him when he did the introduction… I had so many friends tell me they saw me on TV on the Midnight Special … too bad we did not have DVR’s back then. I did find this episode on TH-cam but the introduction was cut out … too bad … be nice to see my young self in my early 20’s … maybe somebody out there has it … nice to have been part of this epic show from my era!! 😊
BTW - those dancers in the very front were paid professional dancers - before the band started to play the production people called out to bring out the dancers - always wondered why some dancers ALWAYS STOOD OUT - LOL!
Damn I miss the good old days. We were chillin like Dillon, had great music & concerts…..hell we even had good comedy & comedians could tell jokes & people could laugh & smile. What happened ?
I love this group's music. I have this song on CD. Love seeing it played live. Taste of Honey was classy & dressed beautifully. Not only that, they played instruments too. TY for sharing this. God Bless You & stay safe.
Never will forget seeing them at Disneyland for Disco Night in Oct 1978 alone with the late great Karen :HotShot" Young. The Park that night was SRO I never in my life saw so many people in one place at one time priceless night.
Oh YEA, loved dancing to this song it’s fantastic! They are so very talented!! Sing it Ladies!! Looks like so much fun for the audience members to be dancing along with them!! 🤩
saw her in an interview/here on TH-cam. she said she started LATE on the Bass. but made up for lost time/became GREAT at playing it...when people talk about GREAT bass players. you got to mention this sista.
While they were "iconic" for about 15 minutes, this band was voted Best New Artist at the Grammys in 1978, when Elvis Costello and The Cars were nominees. Sometimes things just don't make sense.
Simply amazing and delightful...😊

Talent really shined brightly during the 70s Beauty and talent are a wonderful combo
At least they were playing there own instruments back then. Very cool. I grew up with this in the 70's. No computer BS!
The computer has killed pop music.
Pure talent 70s disco songs

Fabulous looking bass player / lead singer is Janice-Marie Johnson.
JMJ has always impressed me with her ability to play bass and sing at the same time

@@mysticakhenaton1701 Unfortunately she gets overlooked a lot even in the ranks female bassist
