Honestly, snapshot is evidence of the true greatness of this instrument for working sound designers, producers, musicians. So simple a concept, yet so brilliant.
I'm excited about what the future updates will bring for this beauty. It seems clear that Moog have a lot of great ideas that they just need to get around to programming. The possibilities (and storage space) are seemingly endless
OK. So MOOG didn't just create the best polysynth ever, they also created the best polysynth with the best memory/interface/computer controller ever. This is why you take five years and do it right. Kudos MOOG!
It's not the best polysynth ever (not even the best analog polysynth sound wise from the past 10 years). Interface is OK but very menu-divey (boring) for an analog. Also early users report it's a bit fiddly and tiring to keep going back to the middle screen when you're over messing with the LFOs for example. Sounds sub par, lots of power but not very nice sounding. I think there's better sounding stuff out there already, cheaper. No need for an all-in-one synth like this if character has to suffer!
What would you suggest is a better poly? Curious. I've not heard anything even close to this in terms of sound quality since the Prophet 5. The 6 and 8, which I've both owned don't even come close either.
I am so excited by the fact that Moog have finally made a modern analog polysynth. I don't care that it's out of my price range; I've always known that it would be if it ever came to fruition. I just want to play it. Sounds great!
honestly i think i could watch Amos talk about cactus and be just as fascinated. but the fact that he can explain this potentially overwhelming machine and make me understand and feel i could control it, it a real gift. he also makes incredible sounds sonically while demo-ing. yay bitcrusher! yay three synths with three sequences! yay triple splits, one with a sequencer, one with an artp one for leads..... yay!
Starts at 23:55 but still ... no sound... Okay at 24:09 there's sound, untill 24:40 and back 25:06 :-) at last we have sound! Yay! 8 GB of memory to store 20.000 presets - i wonder if this feature isn't overkill.
Thank you for the good demonstration .Especially the sequencer .It may take 6.5 years to save for this .The upside will be the added functionality by that time .Computer integration ?
If you just bought a Prophet X or a Quantum of course you are going to hate on this if you don't have the funds to get one. Personally I don't get it anyhow, just sell them and add on top to get this. Done. It's not like you will really miss them
If you are going to include a Bit Crusher effect, it follows that you should also include Sample Rate Reduction. That being said, this synth is amazing, and an incredible achievement for Moog.
i guess when one is made you can midi it in, this synth could be very happy with a double keyboard set up. but it would be lovely to be able to emphasise one note over another just with emphasis ove your fingers, switching between notes to create swells!
Hello. Great synth! Two questions: The sequencers are monophonic or poliphonic? The internal clock can be set in bpms? My sub 37 can't, and its a shame, a real problem if you need extra harware just tomset bpms when you play with other people.
THe Snapshot is a brilliant idea. I have some analog gear and i wish i had that function on those :) To me it seems like a Matrixbrute on steroids (no comparison on sound. Moog sounds better). I have one and would LOVE to have the MoogOne as well :)
The sequencer looks amazing. I'd like to see more demos that aren't covered in delay and reverb so we can get more of a feel for the bare tone. Disappointed that there's no multi-drive.
is there a metronome for the sequencer so you can set it to daw time clock or work it with backing tracks? and can you play chords on the sequencer so i could do triads synth one, bass synth 2 ,and lead synth 3?
Great synth bringing many interesting ideas. Polyphonic aftertouch adds a lot of expression when both hands are used, and can be found on a $200 second-hand GEM S2 yet not on the Moog One.
GEM S2/S3 are over a quarter of a century old (I have an S3); no one has really produced a PolyAT keybed since that time, except for the VAX77. PolyAT would need to be re-engineered, and would add quite a bit to the cost of the Moog One. Even the $25,000 Schmidt Analog doesn't have it. Fortunately, I understand that the Moog One will respond to PolyAT over MIDI. EDIT: OK, Amos says at 1:07:00 that response to PolyAT is "in the plans." I hope they follow through on this, because it would sound awesome.
marzzz1 I think the cost would have been marginal on a $8000 synth, as aftertouch is provided by a simple strip of pressure sensors behind the keys. Besides they could at least provide poly aftertouch support that is not unheard of on synths today. Not to mention MPE. The Deckard’s Dream supports both for instance.
At least as far as PolyAT is concerned, so does the Novation Peak, all of the Dave Smith synths, many Waldorf synths, etc.; not sure about MPE, but that would be great also. My understanding regarding the sensors is that they have to be individual for each key, and the cost is not trivial.
marzzz1 Yes the sensor strip has a sensor for each key, yet I doubt it would cost a lot, like more than $30, if produced in series for a large production series. Probably
how does polyphonic unison work if you’ve assigned 16 voices to unison!? (i’m asking about voice stealing i guess) also can we see more arp? and hear examples of really driving up the gain.
Finally polyphonic!) Wonderful! I'd love to have poly all-in-one bass and soft synth. Instead of two. Portability. Unfortunately i will not buy this because i personally need portable synth that i can carry everywhere.Playing in the car, in nature, bed, kitchen. I will wait for 37-keys version of the One. Also i can't handle screens, although i'm 30 yo but they literally break my brain, especially when so many functions were put into this little display, that is btw i noticed has latency when you turn a knob(?). Anyways, excited for Moog and the ones who this fits for!)
Pretty sure you can - see from 58 minutes on above - about 20 parameters per step can be recorded and edited. Not sure if the implementation is quite as elegant as Elektron's just hold a step and turn a knob, but I'm sure it'll work pretty well.
vcos are fine but not overwhelming. sound is good but not outstanding. maybe worth the price but i miss high end quality. sound is combination between hard midrange and warm filter drive, but nice synth anyway ,,
Actually he's bang on the money. This synth is super powerful but not exactly musical, very harsh sounding mids, not real bite, no real punch. Much better and cheaper stuff out there. I think it's you who needs your ears (and your hype vulnerability) checked. :)
8gigs of storage...hmm, me thinks that eventually, Moog might add simplified sample playback to this machine...maybe single cycle waves or short samples...what a sucker punch that would be! It could be done mostly in software...as long as there’s some spare traces on the motherboard and a few DACs to go into the filter path. Kind of animoog like... Or maybe not, it’s not like Moog to go too digital.
@@basehead617 for some kinda loosers is sadly neccesary. The guy from Moog does amazing musical gear, the guy from youtube does nasty comments. Its life.
Just played one today, interface is weird, lfos spread all over the place. Why put the whole menu section in the middle? The buttons are really non tactile and unresponsive, had to hit most of them twice to lick them on. not great for quick manipulation! Also knobs are easily nudged when trying to close in on the buttons as theyre so close together, could have been switches. Also sick of looking at those shiny silver discs on every knob that Moog use. Thing sounds great though!
Not feeling this sound at all. Quite disappointing that it's a great featured synth but sounds so generic. Wish you could liven up the VCOs a bit and hadn't had to make it so weak (per voice) just to account for 16 of them. Sounds like a played-it-to-safe kind of synth which is weird for a Moog!
It’s actually really disappointing for me to hear someone bullying Amos because of his looks. In my experience Amos is a very friendly and helpful dude, and he is a genius. Judging people on looks is shitty and stupid.

Great to see Amos back doing demo videos again. His explanations are to the point.
Keep up the excellent work Amos. You are awesome. The excitement you share is your gift. Peace!

Thanks for the performance sets, but I'd probably have to spend 3 years at a gym before making this synth part of my gigging rig.
Jesus, if that triple sequencer patch doesn’t sell people, then I’m not sure what will...

How many mod matrix slots? Catch vs jump mode for knobs? Lag processor and quantizer for modulations?
Nice video. But I really would love to have polyafter touch on that nice keybed to add some extra human feel into that beast.
SATO MUSIK that’s probably why there’s an X and Y pad
Hopefully, if this sells well enough, they might consider that when doing updates for this.
Unfortunately very unlikely, because it is expensive and no one is currently making a PolyAT keybed.

The Ensoniq and Elka poly AT keyboards were just modified Fatar's so it can be done. The demand for it doesn't match the added cost however.

No of course not! It's only a mere $8,000 so they just threw the Voyager XL keyboards in that they had laying around.
Not the keyboard but the synth supports it via MIDI
