no editor? when i load a project on daw, do i have to remember and save separately which presets ı’ve used? why? like a vintage synth? is this really whats going on? if i’ve changed a patch on the synth, why can’t i save the patch project version in the daw project session info with editor... thats really crazy.
So it doesn't use sysex for settings dumps? Does it play nicely with external sequencers, such that, say loading a project in a DAW can switch the One to the specific preset or snapshot that was used when the MIDI from a previous session was recorded into the sequencer? And of course, do all the knobs send MIDI out for external recording, to ensure we can play back a prior performance we captured via realtime MIDI automation recording in a DAW? This is an important feature if the onboard sequencer is fully step-based (like the Sub 37). On a related note, how many virtual midi ports does it have? Does every synth voice have an independent MIDI port when connecting to a PC via USB or ethernet?
@Moog Music Inc - I understand the "no software editor for now" thing, but if we want to automate One's parameters from our DAW... wouldn't we need some sort of software editor/plugin for that... or would this be a matter of making something like a TouchOSC panel that would just send OSC messages to the One? (That also means that all the OSC messages should be documented in the manual!)
With 7-bit resolution of MIDI CC? I hope not. I'd much rather prefer the precision of OSC, which would be more precise even than NRPN (which is 14-bit)
Very much enjoyed the conversation about the custom programming language. Any chances we can define our own expressions or methods to send to the One via USB or Ethernet and have it compiled/interpreted by the internal synth engines? Or perhaps pre-compiled externally and just send the binary as a stored, modulatable control expression?
are the oscillators available as modulation sources at the matrix? is the filter and oscillator FM directly analog? I mean, without being digitized before reach the destination. what about the CV inputs? can they modulate parameters without pass thru a digital bus?
Hi Mario, do you have direct confirmation about it or just guessing from what you see at the front panel? I saw the panel too, but I´d prefer an official answer from the people in charge.
Which synths feature analog envelopes? Juno or Jupiter series? Minimoog? Wonder why they opted for software based envelopes given high price tag and ‘all analog’ focus.
Moog should have done like Roland did on their Jupiter 50/80 and programed lots of stunning sounds and hired professional performers before its release. Even if this is an alien spaceship of a synth, the lack of good demo sounds and good performers will not alone convince the crowd. Turning knobs will not convince the the crowd to pay 80000 dollar. Only good sounds and excellent musicians performing on it will. This is the Rolls Royce in the synth industry, and it deserve better.
The audio starts at 0:00 but the video doesn't start until a half hour later. Any chance of a reupload that fixes that?
Amazing engineering accomplishment!! Everything you expect from digital control with full analog signal- awesome!!

which destinations in the mod matrix will respond at audio rate? and can you use an oscillator or another audio signal as a mod source?
Starts 30:10

Mario Krušelj MIDI should be able to cover parameter automation from DAW, without the need of an editor.

Mario Krušelj They said midi would be handled via NRPN. I’m not too well versed on midi implementation, but I can’t imaging NRPN not being sufficient.

hello and congratulations on this incredible design!
my question is; will it be possible to control the synth with OSC via serial connection?
Moog for President! Free synth sounds for EVERYONE!!!!
A Rane mixing console?
1:11:38 Ironically, the Andromeda do have an analogue RAT pedal build in.

Filter and osc FM are directly analog.

I believe they've confirmed it in this very video, around 52 minute mark.
you are right! thanks!
maybe you have already answered this, but the LFO's and the envelopes, are they analog or digital?
have you seen the video? he mentioned it, envelopes are software indeed
thanks :) haven't had time to watch the whole clip yet, starting now!

Ooooh, now for the good stuff!!
55:47 to 55:55
Best moment in the video. X'D
great and informative vid btw
That’s a lot of C++
it feels like half of the video is explanation of this not actually being digital or how analog the digital parts are.
I guess a shit load of Sharc dsps?
So it’s a modular synth with digital patch cables. Got it.
you know the world is fucked when people are asking for a software editor for a synth like this
what on earth is the matter with you people !
Will it Destroy My Andromeda ?
Cheap VST inside of expansive body...
Another trash comment by someone mad they can’t afford it
