Ah yes, good old Supcom. I got the game as a present when I was 9 and I've played it on and off ever since. WHile definitely not as popular and prosperous as it once was, the gameplay, design, and sheer number of wonderful mods such as Total Mayhem, Experimental Wars, and Revamp for Supcom 2 have made it truly unforgettable.
SupCom is such a great game and people often over look the expansion that adds the 4th playable faction which spices up the game a decent bit. Great video.
I loved playing Weddell Islands in SC2, Nothing was more gratifying than a fleet of Destroyers and Battleships sail just off the opponents shore and open up with unholy amounts of firepower. Protected, of course by point defense lasers and a cloud of fighters. I miss my 360
Finally, someone, SOMEONE talks about the absolute best RTS ever created (and probably to ever exist, since RTS is dead now)! It deserves all the coverage, even this many years after launch.
Oh wow, never thought I would see a video on Supreme Commander. This game was and is amazing. Probably the best RTS, maybe tied with SC2 and AoE2. Thanks for the video.
Ever since you played Supreme Commander in a Stream, I was hoping you'd cover it in a proper video. Let's just hope we also get the other factions as well. Also, curiously, despite the UEF in actuality being pretty dictatorial, it seems they do have some democratic processes, as the Manual mentioned President Riley being fairly elected to his position.
@@TemplinInstitute It's not from his word, it's from the game's manual. It states he has a 10-year tenure as president, and is really popular due to his spotless military record. Since the manual gives neutral coverage of both the Cybrans and the Aeon, I doubt it's in-universe UEF propaganda.
Ahh, Supreme Commander. My first RTS and one of my first ever modern video games (before it, I only had access to games made in the early 90s or 80s). More specifically, Supreme Commander 2 (I think it was 2. Might've been 1). Videos of massive, epic battles were some of the first TH-cam videos I watched. EDIT: Thanks to you guys, I just bought the Supreme Commander Bundle on Steam while it was discounted on Steam. Swarms of units massacring everything in their way and sometimes being massacred by bigger swarms is really entertaining.

I believe what you meant to say was "What began as a conflict over the transfer of consciousness from flesh to machines escalated into a war which has decimated a million worlds. The Core and the Arm have all but exhausted the resources of a galaxy in their struggle for domination. Both sides now crippled beyond repair, the remnants of their armies continue to battle of ravaged planets, their hatred fuelled by over four thousand years of total war. This is a fight to the death, for both sides the only acceptable outcome is the complete elimination of the other!"

When I first played this when on the year of its release, I had no idea whatsoever how to play. Never got past the tutorials or any of that. Been wanting to return to try is again but never found the chance. Especially when I switched to consoles over PC. Maybe one day.
I am praying one day for the Institute to cover the Earth Defense Force from its various timelines. I can only see how cool the various factions would be, from the EDF 2017 to 2025 timeline against the Ravagers, and now the 2022 to 2025 timeline against the Primers, not to mention the Iron Rain or Insect Armageddon EDFs
God, why we cannot have Supreme Commander 3?😔 One of the best video game series ever. Amazing factions, infinite building, massive battlefields and impressive units.
Cuz the money gods decided that rts is dead. My personal opinion is yes please, tight storyline is dead as well open world. But. I'd wish for it to take the rout Ta took. Where you didn't just go big. I mean, the zipper was an amazing unit for the micro player
Imagine if RTS game with similar lore and other things could be made by Blizzard Entertainment. If something could be created I doubt that this game will be in any way close to this masterpiece. No, sir! If Wargaming bought this game I wish to see how they resurrect this universe in way similar to World of Tanks/Warships/Warplanes.
If anyone is curious about the multiplayer, you should check out Forged Allience Forever. The community has been supporting the game for nearly a decade now. As one might say, "An old idea, made new."
What a coincidence I rewatch all the cinematics from all the games yesterday and find this tonight. I think Princess Burke is trying to enlighten me to reinstall Forged Alliance.
Its interesting how the template for every "Future United Humans" faction is either: A) Starship Troopers (Military state.) B) Autocratic monarchy C) Western triumph over the planet (An parliamentary government)
In some ways it makes sense I think. The countries of the world vary quite significantly in culture, religion, nationalism, and other differences. The idea of everyone somehow coming together under one nation and government in a democratic and peaceful manner is kind of hard to accept unfortunately. Usually it takes an external threat for that to happen, but even then, the most likely way for a united human government to form is probably through force such as in Robotech where the realization that hostile aliens existed sparked a global conflict between those wanting to form a single government to respond to the aliens against those wanting to retain their autonomy. There have been some exceptions though. The alliance in firefly for instance, was formed between the United States and China when Earth began to run out of resources forcing humanity to evacuate it and you see a decent amount of Chinese influence in the characters and culture even if the focus is more on Wild West in space.
I liked the story is supcomfa, for an rts sequel it did a solid job of continuing the story and the slowly deteriorating mental state of Fletcher was a cool side plot.
The UEF units are designed to be reminiscent of older tanks and aircraft from twentieth and twenty-first centuries. They favor heavy armor over movement speed and weaponry power. Also, sometimes tacked-on, but effective abilities are observed, such as Radar jamming on the Thunderhead or personal shielding on the Titan. As a result of the better armor, UEF units often last longer in combat but are not as capable of dealing damage as effectively as Aeon units. Also, most turreted weapons turn more slowly than other races weapons, thus making UEF units slower to respond to assaults against their units. The UEF forces are generally more functional than aesthetic, making them near polar opposite of the Aeon. They also have some of the biggest trade-offs for certain abilities that are included in their experimentals.
@1:00 @6:12 I love how people keep confusing modded content for official material. That screenshot is from a mod. And even Steam themselves have used mod content as the background image for Supreme Commander.
Not necessarily. The better we understand both AI, and the brain and endocryne system; and the better we get with neuro-machine interfacing, the more the boundary between what's human and what's machine will blur. Best case scenario is man and machine blend and become indistinguishable.
I want a real new Supreme Commander, I wish Squenix would just sell the license. I play FAF and am looking forward to Sanctuary RTS but I just love the lore and universe of Supreme Commander.

Supreme commander was the first RTS game ive played
So many memories of playing this 15 years ago now! Please cover more Supreme Commander.
Can't, wait to see not only the other factions, but their ancestors : the CORE and the ARM.
Haha YES!! Total Annihilation was my childhood! :D
This is awesome! If you are looking for recommendations maybe try one on the Battletech universe? You could always discuss the Star League or the Clans
I loved playing as the UEF. I still remember the time I plinked the enemy commander in the middle of his base with a blind firing Mavor stashed in the back of my base.
Heh, the unsung classic that I still keep hearing the music be used in vids all over. Glad to see that you're putting the spotlight on Supreme Commander... also still hope we get to see a SC3 someday.
Thanks for covering this. One of the best games of my childhood.
The similarity of the Federations and the Institutes emblem is cool
I loved playing Weddell Islands in SC2, Nothing was more gratifying than a fleet of Destroyers and Battleships sail just off the opponents shore and open up with unholy amounts of firepower. Protected, of course by point defense lasers and a cloud of fighters.
I miss my 360
this bring back found memories
Awesomeness!
Would love to see some more from Supreme Commander and especially Total Annihilation.
I love this game.
And this video was just... Amazing. Well done!
I'm not sure you can trust Riley at his word.
And in supcom 2 I believe he retires as president for that same reason
@@ALUCARD-us3il No, he died at the start of Forged Alliance when the Seraphim bomb Earth.
@@Dafuqinator7 i stand corrected
Ahh, Supreme Commander. My first RTS and one of my first ever modern video games (before it, I only had access to games made in the early 90s or 80s). More specifically, Supreme Commander 2 (I think it was 2. Might've been 1). Videos of massive, epic battles were some of the first TH-cam videos I watched.
EDIT: Thanks to you guys, I just bought the Supreme Commander Bundle on Steam while it was discounted on Steam. Swarms of units massacring everything in their way and sometimes being massacred by bigger swarms is really entertaining.
My favorite Faction from one of the best RTS games I have ever played. You guys are awesome! Hope you guys do the rest of the supreme commander factions
I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR A SUPCOM VIDEO!!!
Supcom's gameplay mechanics are truly godlike. I still enjoy watching competitive players playing it on super high level, very interesting to watch.
Thank you for not forgetting Supreme Commander! It's one of my favorite games.
I only played the second game but I loved it anyways and appreciate the video dedicated to one of its factions, can't wait for the next two.
Some of the mechs in SC reminds me of battletech. Would be cool if you guys did a video on one of the Battletech factions.
Dang a video on Supreme Commander, that's a welcome surprise HQ out.
I audibly gasped when I saw the UEF logo in the thumbnail, God I love this franchise!
finally covering some GOOD rts games!
its about time
@Man with hair it's a good concept but was heavily undercooked on release, resulting in a failure of a game.
I mean, it certainly looks cool and all, but is it supreme commander level good? No i dont think so
Were not talking about supcom 2 however, shame how it was never made
Honestly I'm over the moon to see such an S-Tier universe get coverage again! What are the odds you guys would consider adding Infinity Blade to the list of things to cover?
If you have the game on steam, come play on Forged Alliance Forever. We have up to 8v8 multiplayer, 4 player coop campaigns, a random map generator, 1v1 and team matchmaking, and more. Also a very active streaming / casting community.
They just got FAF working with Gog copies of Forged Alliance Forever as well. So even more people can play with us.
The peak of rts
Hopefully one day rts will rise again to and succeed it one day
Nice to see SupCom on here. I actually figured you’d do the UEF first since your emblem looks very much like theirs.
Regrettably, I’m forever a fan of the Aeon Illuminate.
Glory to the Aeon Illuminate my brother!
Spiders are awesome. Kneel before the bug faction. Oh yes.
I don't play video games but I love sci fi and the tempting institute is exceptional for the level of detail provided
I love Supreme Commander, thanks so much for doing this!
Finally some supreme commander lore here!!! Been waiting till the channel finally did at least one video for that game!!
Misread the title and thought this was a breakdown of the Earth Federation from Gundam. Totally forgot about this game.
Wow, this awesome game was first out in about 1999, but you guys just started to cover this franchise.
When I first played this when on the year of its release, I had no idea whatsoever how to play. Never got past the tutorials or any of that. Been wanting to return to try is again but never found the chance. Especially when I switched to consoles over PC.
Maybe one day.
The Aeon Illuminate video is gonna be good.
It’s good seeing my favorite rts sires get attention, nothing rivals my favorite pc melting game, I wish I had a working pc to play it
WOW awesome I can't believe that you are actually covering my most favorite rts like ever
I haven’t played the game but love the name for this..UNITED EARTH FEDERATION..I wonder if our future world will be called this?.??
Used to play Sup Com 2 with my buddies all the time, first rts game I ever played, still love it to this day
You should try the original Supreme Commander, it is so much better then Supreme Commander 2!
One of my most favorite RTS game series so far
God, why we cannot have Supreme Commander 3?😔
One of the best video game series ever.
Exactly, supreme commander has so much wasted potential
The creators of the games got bought by Wargaming (The guys who made World of Tanks) who then got abandoned for no reason.
This is perfect I just replayed Supreme Commander 2
only 3 words...
Strategic launch detected
where is anti nuke? noob team xD
*me petting my T3 engie as 10 nukes fall down on my base* ( i forgot to make nuke defence)
Ah, supreme commander. The thinking mans rts
Operation area expanded
My favorite game of all time! Thank you, institute!!
Looking forward to more supreme commander content!
What a coincidence I rewatch all the cinematics from all the games yesterday and find this tonight. I think Princess Burke is trying to enlighten me to reinstall Forged Alliance.
Its interesting how the template for every "Future United Humans" faction is either:
A) Starship Troopers (Military state.)
B) Autocratic monarchy
C) Western triumph over the planet (An parliamentary government)
Supreme Commander best rts
YES - SUPREME COMMANDER CONTENT!
I liked the story is supcomfa, for an rts sequel it did a solid job of continuing the story and the slowly deteriorating mental state of Fletcher was a cool side plot.
YES!!!! Finally doing Supreme Commander lote!!!
Nice vid bud. One of the best games ever made, the first one I won’t mention the second lol
For those looking to play Sup Com muti player I recommend Forged Alliance Forever. It’s a launcher servers and mods all in one platform.
They also have a much bigger focus on fixed defences and artillery.
Dukes and Mavor go vroom
@1:00 @6:12 I love how people keep confusing modded content for official material. That screenshot is from a mod. And even Steam themselves have used mod content as the background image for Supreme Commander.
In a universe of rapid war machines creations. Manned anything is gonna be redundant.
Not necessarily. The better we understand both AI, and the brain and endocryne system; and the better we get with neuro-machine interfacing, the more the boundary between what's human and what's machine will blur. Best case scenario is man and machine blend and become indistinguishable.
@@Gstrangeman96 God damn this is big brain
I want a real new Supreme Commander, I wish Squenix would just sell the license.
I play FAF and am looking forward to Sanctuary RTS but I just love the lore and universe of Supreme Commander.
Now this is a title I haven't heard about in a long time. A long, long time.
Yes I love Supreme commander please do more on the series.
