56:50 #Quah question #1 - If you're in your 40’s and you maintain mostly the same workout, weight, and volume that you used in your 30’s, does that mean you got stronger since we’re supposed to get weaker as we get older? Does going against time count as improvement?

1:10:27 #Quah question #4 - What is the definition of cardio? Is it based on heart rate?

My sleep is not fine 😬
I’m a mom of 3 girls and i work full time- workouts are on point, diet is dialed in, I’m hitting my protein. But I sleep 4-6 broken hours a night and I knowwww this is holding me back
I found that taking GABA at night greatly improved my sleep. Do your research on it before taking it as it should not be taken for long periods.
Oh my gosh yes I totally relate! I have four kids ages 9 down to 2 and it's been hard. It's been a long process with ups and downs and ebs and flows. I have found the best thing I can do is make my workouts short but impactful, have a good nighttime routine, and get the best quality sleep I can. I used to get 4-5 hours broken sleep. Now it varies depending on how my kids sleep and if anyone is sick but I'm now getting closer to 7 to 8 hours of broken sleep. lol. But I have made a ton of progress.
Second comment: Justin under his breath correcting the pronunciation of Anthony Kiedis was funnier to me than it should have been. I hear you Justin! I appreciate your knowledge!
In addition to recovering from workouts, I’m also recovering from alcoholism. Thank you for the hacks , tips, especially being 46 and trying to get in the best shape of my life.
💪🏿I’m in a recovery phase right now. Been going a little too hard. Backing off for a week.💪🏿
Guys seriously, I sneaky watch you guys when I'm supposed to be working, I watch on my phone with discreet earpods in pretending to work, then Adam tells the story about the towel and I burst out laughing and totally blew my cover at work. Totally worth it. Adam you cracked me up😂
@claymonaro68 Winner! Please email: ann@mindpumpmedia.com with a screenshot of your youtube username, winning episode number, and the email address you would like the program under and we will get you hooked up!
😂 I'm so glad you won the program! I laughed so hard at your comment, and I'm sure you're not alone!
@michellegerrey5308 Thank you Michelle. Have a great day
I'm sleeping 7-8h everyday , no electronics 2h before bed, same sleep frame time every night, however it's hard to achieve 2h between dinner and sleep, working on that! Sleep has been a struggle for me from years and now is one of my main goals. Thanks guys for all you do for us!
That’s true about the liver. My brother at age 24 had liver cancer and 3/4 of his liver was removed. Then later grew back. Thankfully, he lived 30 more years. The research that I found stated that anyone with liver cancer would be gone in a few months. My brother was walking miracle. We prayed a lot.
In addition, I took a mission trip to El Salvador in 2019 and the pastor there said we would never have been able to do the work of building homes five years prior because the gang problem was so bad. The new president is amazing and so are the people. It was a trip that changed my perspective on life.thank you guys for all you do. I always look forward to the new podcast every day. Love all three of you guys. You are amazing! Thank you for all the information.❤❤❤
Everyone with maintance insomnia (waking up in the middle of the night and cant sleep anymore) I really recommend sleep restriction therapy. Having problems with sleep for the last year. After a 10 days of therapy its the first time in a year that I have feeling that I have somewhat control over it. You can get all info on the internet. Just be careful if you are driving or operating some dangerous machinery during the day its not recommended cause you are going to be more even more tired at the beginning.
It's so great to have Adam back. It's not the same without Adam. So happy to hear that his wife is feeling better and recovering. Mind Pump my go to Podcast for fitness. I've learned so much from you guys.
what happened to his wife
14:57 I have never heard you guys bring up banana ball, which is shocking. Justin would love it.
Sleep is so important.
I put sleep priority, good well rested sleep above all. NOW.
I fear that’s what lead to my MS. And when I decided to prioritize it (sleep) Symptoms are better managed AND for three years now, my routine MRIs and spinal taps have expressed no growth on the lesions, no new/discovered lesions, and a bunch of neurological (balance most notably for me) issues aren’t as severe.
When I went to my ‘fighting for me life’ journey- I started to look like I lost weight. People would comment/question what I’m doing?
“Stress less. Get sleep. Hydrate. Move. Consistency not extreme.”
I don’t care about my dating life. I go to bed at a certain time, so I get the sleep I need. I want to go to the gym. But if I feel my body needs more sleep. I skip the gym.
My Dad also grew up in a poor farming family with no access to dental care but had perfect teeth. His theory is that it was because their diet was very simple - mostly rice, vegetables, and fruits. Hardly any sugary drinks and snacks.
Mind Pump has made me completely rethink the role of sleep. Completely changed my life. Can’t overstate what a big deal this is. Keep saying it!
Love your show!! Great mix of knowledge, fun facts, news topics & humor! ❤
I’ve had masseter Botox a few times - what I can tell you is that it does weaken the muscle and as the masseter atrophies it will change the shape of your face. It narrows the jaw which is the exact reason many people use it but after using it long term - it’s not a great look so you have to take a break every so often to build the muscle back up a bit. In weakening the muscle - your jaw gets really tired chewing. It’s a bit of a chore to finish a sandwich it’s like lifting heavy weight with the same muscle every single day - you really feel the jaw fatigue in the beginning. I’d say if you’re curious give it a try but you’re probably better off with custom mouth guard.
If i sleep 8 hours per night is like winning a jackpot. For real. I prioritize sleep every night but i just can't sleep that long.
Wow Justin a kettlebell?!?! Impressive 😂
I kept putting off get tested for sleep apnea and when I finally got tested & got my CPAP, yeah... I wasn't sleeping well at all those years. And now that I started working out, I find myself sleeping at least 7 because I feel better and relaxed at night when I go to bed.
I’ve self disciplined myself in a lot of areas of life.. however I just can’t get the sleep part together. Drives me crazy. I keep saying I’m going to be consistent and I just can’t get it. For one it’s tough for me to sleep to begin with.. so I dread even trying sometimes.. uhhhgggg I’ve got to get it together
Just realized that Captain Tiny Beard is now just Captain Stache.
Me trying to optimize my sleep while my 4 month old is actively working against me 😂
Tell my 2 and 4 year old this 😅 I miss sleep!
Thx so much for picking and answering my question about sleep ❤❤❤
Thanks for another great show. Keep up the good work!
Its funny that Justin mentioned As I Lay Dying and the lead singer hiring that hitman. I had ticket to see them on tour with Miss May I and Killswitch engage the summer he got arrested, of course the band had to back out of the tour. But he got arrested like 2 weeks before the tour started, it sucked because i really wanted to see them but yeah he was crazy.
Yeah, sleep has been the best recovery tool I've used so far. Just turned 47 and I'm at my strongest since my mid 30's.
I agree, sleep is most important (me eating while watching this at night, at work, at the gym, and will most likely do a maps15 workout and eat again when I get home and be up for another hour or 2 before going to sleep)
If anyone is looking to improve their sleep - try the full spectrum CBD. NED is a good option and there are many other brands out there just make sure it’s 3rd party tested. I started taking it twice a day and was about to give it up because I didn’t feel any results. I’ve been tracking my sleep for a year. When I started the cbd my deep sleep went from 1.12 hours at best to 2.5 hours. My deep sleep stayed at 2+ hours the entire time I was taking it and within a week of stopping my deep sleep returned to around an hour. I was sleeping the same 8.5 hours a night. I just restarted the CBD and Bam! Deep sleep back to over 2 hours. Don’t cheap out high quality product is key. Aside from that I don’t notice any other effects good or bad but my sleep scores are the highest they have ever been.
Doesn’t it cause a +THC drug test though? Job?
Love you guys!!!!! Currently running Maps Powerlift for my first meet & let me tell a y’all that I’ve been recovering pretty well. Little to no fatigue/soreness prior to training/rest days. Compared to my old program where I felt soooo tired all the time, even deloads were draining. Priming & post priming have definitely been a major part of this prep. I sleep at least 7-8 broken hours during my work days (5hrs, then the rest before work) my non training days I do sleep about 8/9 hrs unbroken sleep. My numbers have definitely improved as well. Thank you 🫶🏽
Mom of 4 boys (ages 14, 5, 2 and 5 months). Sleep is..... a luxury for me these days, lol. In the meantime, I'm very dedicated to my diet, so im at least not going into the negative on that front so i dont feel like total crap.
Thanks for another great episode - lots of info and some laughs!
Loving Muscle Mommy!
I'm 56 and just starting the program - so glad I going you guys 2 months ago
Nothing beats a great night of sleep
Walking is a game changer!
My bodybuilding pro debut my coach would have me sacrifice sleep to get up for cardio. I wouldn’t drop a lb. I decided to not tell him and sleep in for a couple of days. I dropped a good 5-7lbs after doing so.
You guys are awesome! Good show!
Any suggestion (besides the obvious of changing the times of activity) for when working in night shifts? Meaning that my night is your day and your day, my night.
I talked to someone today who had somehow gotten black market Ozempic! She said she was extremely sick for weeks on end and only lost 10 pounds
Fell asleep watching this lol
The baseball was with norfolk tides AAA baseball team!! thats my home town booom! it was really cool event. SOLD OUT quick
I need 8-10 hours of sleep. And if interrupted I need that made up too ! I know my body well. I look and feel my best when I’m well slept
Re:QUAH #4 Id define cardio as exercise where your cardiovascular system is the limiting factor.
Hey guys! Congrats for your amazing podcast! And greetings from Mexico! Anyways would tell me where can I get one of those recliners you all sitting at? Please! Thank you all gentleman!
You guys should check out the Huberman episode on dental hygiene!
Great episode guys
My sleep needs improving! I do use good sleep 'hygiene' and it is improving but not yet optimal! Working on it!
Great content, as usual...
Thanks
I have terrible sleep and it really ruins my day. By afternoon I feel very sleepy again and then I use caffeine to fight it which brings about its own issues.
Overworked my arm in a mens softball league. Taking the next few days to just recover!
"I'd bite the shit out of em" 😂 y'all fight weird but it works lol
I practice sleep Hygiene around 6mths already, however work is always interfering 😂
Everytime Adam tells a dad story it makes me more and more glad I had a girl 😂
I've signed up for the newsletter but am not seeing them yet...
How do you guys feel about using ambien for sleep? Good or no good? I usually get real hungry when I use it
Yes!!!!! Sleep!!!!!
Ozempic Black Market.
Boom
The towel story 💀💀💀
My husband's snoring is my problem..I need something to shock him 😑
hey at least i can do SOMETHING like a Pro! ;)
I just slept for 14 hours last night.
24:32
Read Disolving Illusions. Nothing about covid was new. It was all done before. Great book!
Get serious about your sleep gains.
Did you guys know car-jitsu is a serious sport? PFC pillow fight championship and Lingerie football which has some serious ladies on it.
Y’all really believe that Tucker Carlson interview? 🤡
When it coes to Leonardo DiCaprio's topic.
I think what he's after is sexual purity and someone who is dependant.
Older women tend to have more sexual history and more of a "challenging " and independent personality, not everyone likes a bossy liberal woman 😂
I listen to Joe Biden which puts me on the cusp of a deep coma.
Not all of them are loud
