Get rid of that E.V I’ve never seen anyone so stressed over a car. Thanks so much for all your efforts Lee, perhaps a nice break is what you need.

I may be wrong but I took that video as a bit "tongue in cheek” a kind of sarcastic look at running an EV. I personally will never go back to an ICEV. Let’s get our keyboards warmed up for a battle. I do agree with the taking a break thing though, it usually doesn’t end well if your favourite hobby becomes your livelihood.

I burnt myself out completely. I was a self employed builder and worked 6 and sometimes 7 days a week. I loved working hard, the harder the work the more I loved it. Then at 42 my body began to give out to the point I’m now disabled. I ignored my body telling me to slow down and paid the price.

I never really comment on videos, but this particular video struck a chord with me. It takes a brave man to admit they are broken, I myself have very recently found myself in tears in front of my partner and two young children and having to go to my old and very unwell Dad to ask for help. The haters will hate and no matter what your mindset or attitude they will eventually pull you down. The content that you make really helps me on my journey towards mental peace if you like. I always holiday in the UK and first found you when searching on TH-cam for Scarborough as we were due to go on Holiday there in 2021 and your video popped up. I have since watched all your Blackpool, Whitby and other videos round the UK and they get me the wife and the kids psyched up for going on our holidays. Whether you upload once per day or once per month we will continue to watch. Lots of love and best wishes from a slightly pissed but definitely broken Scotsman who finds solace and pleasure in your content.

The reason I started watching your vlogs was the way you carry out your work, professional, friendly and interesting. Whatever you manage to put out going forwards, all your real viewers will love the content and will never mind the frequency. Life’s a balance and that includes a work life balance. Take care Macmaster.

You’re absolutely right Lee, everyone has their limit, a cut off point where their bodies and brains say they’ve had enough. It’s definitely not a sign of weakness when exhaustion or burnout strikes. It can happen to anyone. I’ve been working in the health sector for years and now and also more recently as a counsellor and have seen many people experience similar. As you know from personal experience, it’s a very scary thing when it happens. I’m so glad to hear you’ve slowed down a bit as not everyone heeds the warning their body is giving them. Well done for being able to slow down, it’s not easy. All the best…..❤❤

Lee, please take care of yourself. In June 2022 i was hit by a car while cycling and busted up pretty good. It was a summer of recovery and has been a year of hard work. i missed that summer's UK trip. Please know how much joy, happiness and how much of a UK fix your videos have brought over the last year. Your channel and all your work has meant a lot.

Please excuse this long message, and I do hope you read it all, because I feel I need to say something..
It's been just over 3 months since I first discovered you and your videos, but in this short space of time I've never been more thankful in all my years on here, of finding a channel and a host that I am so glad never passed me by.
Lee, you are the nicest guy I've ever had the pleasure of not meeting. You're so humble, so engaging, friendly, honest, and your videos have entertained me more in these 3 months than anyone's. I've warmed to you in a way I didn't think was possible. You are honestly and truly, a pleasure to watch.
Having seen your life change these last few weeks, it's safe to say you've gone above and beyond for us. But I think you're living your life through our eyes, not through your own, and that's the shame. You need to take a step back, not too far, but far enough that TH-cam isn't pushing you to further ill health. Whilst wishing you all the best with your ongoing recovery.
I do agree with what you pointed out about needing to appreciate more and see life through your own eyes, I think you're seeing life through TH-cam's eyes and missing out on what's important, not absorbing what it is you're ultimately seeing around you.
Yes it's important to have money and doing what you enjoy, but it's never worth the cost of health and time spent with those close. Videos will last, our time and health doesn't.
We don't care about algorithms changing, the loyal "friends" will always watch your videos "onwards" because we want to, not because TH-cam says we should.. If you need to take a break then please do it, we'd rather have you here less than not at all.
I wish you every success in the world going forward and can't wait to see more videos, in moderation of course!
    All the best.

@RH-1977 absolutely concur and agree and second every word you have typed for lee; absolutely outstanding guy; humble; honest; genuine; just a really really nice guy - whom i hope recovers fully and i believe sadly and regretfully he had the needle craft which i honestly have led to the clots in his hgb - lee is blessed and fortunate to have survived and hopefully he takes precious time with his loved ones and stops allowing the elite gobshites who came up with death trap e.v's and the needle craft and now killing of cattle and other meat sources and poisoning us with 5G and chem trails and putting needle craft in foods drinks like sodas etc as unnamed to desperately try to wipe as many billion from the planet whilst they continue to use the blood of infants and children for youthful longevity this i believe to be fact rather than conspiracy and lee and so many have been on receiving end of consequences and lee is a breath of fresh air - i so wish he would not give the e.v elites brain space nor the evangelist e.v left wing fascist extremist nut jobs time of day for lee's in need of peaceful living without the aggro and stress which accompanies it

Love the content keep it going at your pace not you tube 😢and keep strong mate !

  • @AlsKitchen

Listening to this was like hearing my own story and probably many others youtubers stories. I thought all of this through before I started my channel and deliberately didn't get on the hamster wheel. I produce a video once every 2/3 weeks and thats it. Obviously my channel is teaching British Indian Restaurant style curries at home so I couldn't practically make daily videos. The passion would have died.
But I totally get the need not to vanish and the work involved, ie, ideas, filming, editing, uploading, typing, SEO, promoting, comments, emails etc, it's actually never ending. My sister in law had the cheek to belittle what I did and referred to as a silly little hobby. Her 9-5 Admin job pales into insignificance compared to what we have to do. Apart from anything else our thoughts are occupied 24/7 and that's part of the stress that can occur. The feeling of never being present in the moment. Even in Holiday in on my phone checking stuff. You actually don't get days off.
Anyway, love your channel but go easy on yourself, reduce the level and you'll still get what you deserve. Take care.
    Al

Since you read all your comments, no doubt you'll read this one. I've been fortunate enough to have led a very interesting life. I've been involved in cars and motor-racing since I could walk and actually racing for more than 60 years! I served my country and, after a break when I lived and worked in America, I came home and was the CEO of what used to be the second fastest growing company in Europe. Along the way, I collected a number of Doctorates too.
So, why am I boring you by blowing my own trumpet now? I'll tell you. I've NEVER allowed myself to be ruled by my work; so I've never been anywhere near to any kind of breakdown. In fact, listening to you and hearing how your life has bashed you about, I'm bloody thankful not to have shared your experience.
The way I live my life is also the reason why I've never written anything biographical or opened a TH-cam channel - it sounds horrific! Oh, I can see that you enjoy what you do, that comes across very clearly; but I wouldn't want to pay the price that you have.
Look after yourself Lee, you'd be a terrible loss to thousands of people if anything happened to you. All the haters and EVangelists would have to find someone else to tear apart - and they've worked so hard at denigrating you, poor dears. (You see, Lee, they don't know how small-minded they are)
Your blooming Taycan seems to be really getting under your skin lately too. I fail to comprehend why you leased an EV in the first place - or were you just having a bad day? Get rid of the damned thing - now! Stop your payments and h and it back. Don't pay another penny on it; on the grounds that, having given it every chance possible, It's simply: "Not fit for purpose!" The finance company will squeal and threaten, but they'll know they can't win because you have many recorded hours of solid evidence to back up your statement.
Then you can buy a top grade used self-charging hybrid (a Lexus would suit you) and be happy, debt free and able to enjoy motoring again. (You'd have the perfect weapon to beat Geoff too)
That's it from me, keep on making brilliant videos for us all to enjoy.
Good luck, have a fantastic 2024; I'll be watching - we all will.

Thanks for the insight. It's funny you should mention about not actually really experiencing things properly when filming. One of my other favourite TH-camrs "Walk with me Tim" said something similar on a recent video. People just see you on holiday, but it's actually work and very time consuming. Keep up the good work if you can, but not at the expense of your sanity or health.

Hi, glad to see your on the mend, I burnt out at 29 from just working too hard just to provide for my family. I've only started doing videos to help and teach people how to do stuff, if I don't pass on what I've learnt over a lifetime before I kick the bucket it's lost . I'm running an classic engineering business and do videos when I can and that's where it stops. I learnt from burning out at 29 nothing is worth you health and I'm now 57 and don't give a monkeys what anyone else thinks. Look after yourself, it's too late when your gone.

Very well explained and I guess it must be almost like an addiction, and I didn’t realise you put so many hours into the videos. I’m glad you aren’t affected by the haters, because I think in the main they are jealous of your success on TH-cam, and the holidays you have as well as your nice car (I’ve been considering getting an electric car, but I am put off with charging it on long journeys or trips to the coast). I think you’re a decent bloke even if you are a little over generous with some of the high scores you sometimes give your meals out😁

Hats off to you Lee, a very honest heartfelt video. I bet you feel a big weight of your shoulders getting that off your chest. I was in a simpler position a few years ago running my own business, getting no rest, burning the candle at both ends, you need to set yourself how many days and hours you want to work. And stick to those hours. Self employment is not always as good as it looks, or as good people perceive it. So schedule your days off and forget everything to do with TH-cam on those days off, get yourself a separate phone for those days. You have to be strong and stick to the rules you set yourself, and you will reap the rewards long term trust me. Onwards my friend but in moderation. Love and good luck to you and your family. ♥♥♥

Keep on making really entertaining videos at a pace that isn’t detrimental to your health.

Thank you for a very heartfelt video. You are so right in what you have said. I think you need to step back and think about what you want and enjoy about filming and not to think about what subscribers expect. Your true fans that love your videos will always stick by you.

Lee. You only have one live. Take it responsibly. Ignore the cowardly warriors. And don't get stressed about the quantity. It is the quality that is important and it's what we come to see. I'd rather watch one superb video a week than daily snippets of 'nothing'.
Take it easy mate. And more electric car rants please 😂

I've been putting videos on TH-cam since 2017 and normally only get a few hundred views if I'm lucky. The odd one does very well. But like Geoff Buys Cars, the more effort I put into a video the less views it gets. I can leave it for a few weeks before I upload a video but sure enough my loyal viewers are instantly on me praising the video and saying 'keep them coming'. It's these few harden viewers that really keep me going. But I have to admit I have felt like giving it up. I leave it for a while and then get a few people subscribing and feel compelled to carry on. But just how long can one carry on. Even Columbo came to an end and Doc Martin. I've lost my local cycling mojo and don't use my bike any more at the moment except when we go away in our motorhome. I think if you eased up on the amount of videos you upload I think fans would still watch them when they appear - even more so , because they've actually missed you. Think about it. I could be wrong but nothing lasts for ever. Cheers.

I'm in no way a hater but I used to dig holes in the road for 8 hours a day, it was terrible in hot and freezing weather. You have to put this in to perspective, things could be much harder. This comes across as slightly self indulgent.

Very interesting, Lee. I'm just a person who loves watching youtube video's, and not someone who has any interest in making or posting any. I follow a few video makers on here but not that many and the number of video's they post ranges from once a month to once or twice a week, but you were the one who posted the most by far, which I appreciated. I can also appreciate the amount of time it takes to make each video and the processes needed, as some people may not, and especially quality video's like yours as opposed to a 5 minute video taken on a phone with no production values. TH-cam are a bit disgusting how they treat people, punishing those who fall behind with their quota etc, which is a bit like time and motion, and this is something I had no idea about until watching this video. I have no idea about the financial rewards for making video's, but you have to make a living as you said. Obviously you should cut down on your quantity and stress, but keep the quality and maybe do video's once or twice a week or a few a month if it's viable, I don't know. All I can say is dont let the bastards get you down and sod the keyboard warriors. All the best wishes.

  • @MultiRetroMan
    @MultiRetroMan 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

I found one bizarre thing with TH-cam. I once spent ages on a video, editing it (maybe about an hour or so) and it got about 20 views.
I did a Shorts video that lasted 15 seconds and within a couple of days, I had over 1K views! Crazy!!!!
I totally agree with you about the algorithms and was really just wanting to give you a big hug when you said you were in tears before you set off. It just goes to show that things like that make you realise what is what and I guess, brings you back to reality in some sort of thing, if you know what I mean.
If I do see you in person at any time, I will give you a handshake and man-hug and wish you and your family all the best.
Just keep doing what you enjoy and if it's less TH-cam and more family time then that's what you have to do :D

I remember Geoff carter saying in one of the Benidorm vlogs that you never sleep you just work work work anyway I do appreciate your videos that you put out especially Benidorm as it saves me going to crappy restaurants n wasting my money you sourced all the good ones for me I went on holiday with my list of restaurants / pubs/cafes in hand that I wanted to try n none disappointed.

Dear Lee, my brother and best friend went through a gruelling process, a month in fact to ascertain whether he had cancer or not. During that time, he realised the true meaning of what's important and to drop things that are simply irrelevant. Also self preservation and upmost, it lent clarity. Thank God, like you all is okay. I feel in this video, you are on a very similar path. You are mu age, my brother a little younger. At our ages, we are at a pivotal stage anyway. What you shared with us in this video is a result of coming out the other side of a dark abyss, only to lend clarity and wisdom. This is such a great thing Lee.
We must realise our mortality and appreciate the things that matter like family and our individual happiness, that is real to us.
If you have suffered my 'war and peace' to this stage, I wish you ultimate happiness with your endeavours and look forward to many years of great, witty and humourous content! 👍🏻
