I have always been a 1970 guy. But the 1972 is quickly becoming a favorite.
The N-25 is an absolute work of art.

I'm a Mopar man but I love all the muscle cars of that era no matter what brand. Pontiac was always my favorite brand other than Dodge and Plymouth. Pontiac made a lot of really nice looking cars and built awesome high performance engines...the 389/421 HO, 389/421 Super Duty, 400/428 HO, 350 HO, 400 Ram Air II,III, and IV, and the 455 HO and 455 Super Duty. There's a reason that Pontiac was known as GM's Performance Division. If GM brass wasn't always restricting Pontiac on how fast they could build their cars then they would've definitely built something that could beat an L88 Vette or ZL-1 Camaro. GM always favored Chevrolet and tried their best to make sure the Corvette was the top dog except for a few instances like the 73-74 SD455 Trans Am's and the 80's Turbo Buick's which were both definitely faster than any Vette was in their respective era's

@@loucostabile don't know that much about classic muscle cars. I remember distinctly though dad passing on any gas stations that sold only unleaded, even if in the middle of the night on a lonely stretch of highway. Can I construe from this that it was a 455, sin6 it was apparently a 1972 GS?

Great luxury-sport-ish Buick in this immense paint colour! The engine sounds like my family's GMC 1971 pickup truck V8 Engine! Ok, time for the fact! During 1971 and 1972, the GSX package became an option that was available on any Gran Sport. Production dropped in 1971 to only 124, and again to 44 in 1972. These numbers include the available 350-4 bbl option, the standard 455, and the Stage 1 engines. Many GSXs survive to this day and can be seen at the Buick Gran Sport Nationals held annually in Bowling Green, KY (kentucky) in the middle of May along with many other examples of '60s, '70s and '80s Buick performance models, John.

Must be a pretty small show because Buick didn't produce very many high performance cars in it's entire history. Although I do love the muscle cars they did produce, especially the 1970 GSX Stage 1 455. That is one bad ass machine. And the 80s grand national was actually the fastest American production car for the whole decade. That's not saying all that much because from 1975 until the late 80s was the absolute worst time period for American cars in the entire history of cars. American automakers we're trying to make high performance cars but between the technology of that time and the federal emissions regulations it didn't work very well

The blacked out grille & the blacked out headlight bezel was only on the '72 GS. I had a '72 GS 350 in Burnished Copper with that same white interior and the notchback seat. If I had ordered a 455 or the automatic on the floor my insurance would have been unaffordable. Mine did not have the seat belt warning on the top of the dash, but may have been because mine was a very early '72. I just missed the order deadline for a '71 GS so mine was ordered in June and the very first one at my dealership in September.

You can't forget that car has 270 horses with 390 foot-lb of torque in such a clean package. Another amazing Buick! Loving the all white with the black headliner/dash contrast. The big Buick engines were sleepers, no one expected such amazing power and performance from a Buick. You are right, I would have assumed that that thru bumper exhaust was some sort of custom add on. That car design/body looks just as great today, as it did back in 72. GM would still be on top if they could still produce these cars today.

5:12 I find it rather ironic that there is a 'GM Mark of Excellence sticker' on the door shell, yet the door shell has undergone a terrible repair.

Hi Johnnyc drums, I'm hoping a Buick Expert can answer your question, however I recall the GSX was a car that came in two colors, Saturn Yellow & Apollo White. Hope that helps, Lou P.S. Like this one th-cam.com/video/44VJsejO1Zg/w-d-xo.html

I hear ya.....that's pretty much my opinion too. There's no substitute for a 4 speed with a Hurst shifter. But there were some very good automatic transmissions during that era(Mopar 727 torqueflite,Ford C6, GM Turbo 350 and 400)
