Thank you
Can confirm the eye patch bit , it's why the US NAVY uses red lights on deck if need be .
I was a 3rd class Boatswains Mate.
Loved the bg music choice "Way hay and up she rises, way hay and up she raises, way hay and up she rises early in the morning..."
Thanks
Never heard of Madame Ching until this video, i'm eagerly awaiting the video on her story one day!
It’s coming
Nice one Jay

Bruh I was just thinking “Damn when is the next History of Pirates video coming out?
Be ready
To add to the use of Rum (alcohol) to water to make it drinkable: Mainly Spanish hospitals in 1600s had doctors and assistants who were catholic, They "blessed" their hands after surgery on one person before doing surgery (usually amputation) on other patients, Had supposedly double the survival rate and no one could figure it out at the time why... Excellent job Jay! Fascinating channel! 👍
Appreciate you
Another great episode, Jay. These episodes are very entertaining, and it's cool to see someone doing something completely different with a channel rather than following what everyone else is doing. Kudos.
Appreciate the words
I love History! Pirate History is AWESOME! Thanks for the Video! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Much love
Damn Jay...stumbled on to this channel by accident but I picked out your voice in the first 10 seconds. Good job, Drunk3p0! Arrrrrr!!

Thank you for aiding me with my new obsession. I just subbed 😂
I remember starting to read Treasure Island when I was younger. Of course, not being very resillient, I never completed it. I think I'll add it back to my to-read list!
Love this new channel, thanks for educating and entertaining us!
Thank you for being here
being hired as ana ctor to perform on a pirate ship bring a whole new meaning to dying on stage or corpseing lol
you got that right
Dear Jay,
I understood that unless a prisoner caused trouble, Pirates tended to treat them well, as it might mitigate against a visit to the gallows if they were caught.
Frank.
I got a ton of ten facts to make and you are correct
@@HistoryofPirates Dear Jay,
Cheers.
Frank.
00:37 LOVE Treasure Island (book and classic Disney film). If only Disney was doing better and trusted to do a remake today. The potential for an epic Treasure Island remake would be amazing.
I agree
Like The Mummy first remake 1999?
Muppets Treasure Island is pretty good
Excellent Jay! I have been looking forward to you posting on this channel again
Glad you liked it
I was told once that their earrings were in fact their wedding rings. Because climbing in those ropes you couldn't risk getting stuck because of a ring and thus maybe lose a finger
Ahhhh next fact video
lots of folklore became habits, but the ones that caught on had better benefits. Like English sucking on limes for scury protection
That was pretty cool there.
Thank you Moe
@@HistoryofPirates Anytime brother
Do more on the lingo of the day. Such as pirate booty. Did you know I was going there? Lmao
Ha!
- On a serious note, Jay. Your enthusiasm on forgotten knowledge about pirates is entertaining. I didn’t think of Hollywood was responsible for creating colorful lingo back then. Keep the videos coming. I hope this channel sails off with many full crewmen and woman aboard. Peace everyone.
@@dennisd4452 thank you

I can confirm the earring bit to pay for ones funeral. To this day, on a former Dutch island before it became a polder. The people 'on' (even though it is not an island anymore) Urk usually wear a gold earring for the very reason mentioned.
Wow
Awesome Jay, I really enjoyed this video.
Glad you enjoyed it
Always look forward to new content here!
Appreciate you
I knew there were some lady pirates in history, but mostly those who pretended to be men as they didn't allow ladies on the ship. That lady pirate fact was awesome! Especially with how they let her command.
They could write a movie about her piracy career.
Oh wow I didn't know any of these facts. Nice video Jay
Thanks
Hi Jay, that was a fun video, learned some things 😊
Glad you enjoyed it
That was actually pretty good and detailed, I did not know 70% of that! Thanks
TH-cam needs to walk the plank into hungry sharks. They unsubbed me from this channel. What do they have against pirates? ☠️

"Rum was safer to drink than water" - Been telling my wife this for years but she claim it's just an excuse for being an alchoholic.
Thanks for the validation Jay!
Welcome haha
Wow!!!🎉
Voice and sound was good in this video no issues
Most excellent dudes! Can you share your sources? The books I've read are adventures and have some but not all facts of the trade.
Check description
AC black flag is my favorite AC game
Subbed. Drunk3PO ftw! ✌🐸
Thank you so much
Fact 1. Thank you.
This video should have 33k likes!
I read somewhere that many of the old sea shanties still sang today are actually not necessarily exact as the language they would have really used was too dirty to put to paper.
Some songs yes
Wow😮
Actually walking the plank did happen 2 or 3 times during the 1820s. It was aftet the golden age, but it happened more than never.
Correct! I did learn this!
You're late to the party, Seen 10+ videos like this before. Knew all 10.
Thanks
Dammit, now I want to watch PotC again..
I seriously doubt the eye patch one
😲 I'd rather walk the plank.
A beautiful woman like yourself they would have other uses for you
I've read a lot of pirate type books I wanna write a children's book I've got great knowledge but what the best way to go about it
Not really sure, just start with an outline and then work the story from there
I believe water and rum is called grog
Correct
Arrrrrr.
Hhhhhhhharrrrr
Rum is still safer than water
Yesssssss
My children agree! 👍
My hubby is related to Stede bonnet. The family history says he was the only one to make people walk the plank. He was the only pirate that bought his own ship. He went pirating to escape his nagging wife, so the story goes.
Been to the spot where he was hung in Charleston SC.
Thanks for sharing!!
Dronet was closely related to jean Lafayette and I'm his decendent
Whoa really
Do you think the new guy will appreciate theese facts on highT?
No
You forgot that Vikings were also pirates
Vikings are on a much different level haha
