I was waiting for this tutorial and it turned out great! I had the embossing tool in my Cricut cart from your tutorial using the Maker and the embossing tool now I don't have to purchase it. You are a great teacher and you really motivate us to keep crafting and try new things.
Thank you for doing this tutorial with the explorer series. Your project came out wonderful especially when you put the two projects together. The only question I have is could you have done the embossing process twice to pick up the one missed shell? The reasons I ask are: 1. Would it rip the the paper if it when over it a second time. 2. Would it give it a deeper embossing affect. Thank you again. Another great tutorial.
Hello Corinne, thank you for this video, I was able to do my first Embossed card front using your method, you make it so easy took 3 tries to get it perfect but I love it and you made it so easy. Could you please give me an idea as to which fonts would be the best to use for embossing?
The sheet you showed with “stay” on it, was that a piece of pearl card stock - I have some that seems to be soft card stock and I think it would give a nice raised look - in Cricut DS under Easter, are two flowers that look embossed when I did print then cut, I think I’ll try those as well
This is so cool! Im sure Im missing something, but couldn’t you just score whatever design you want and not have to do an offset? I don’t totally understand the reason for cutting the design out first with heavy card stock and then scoring the offset into the regular card stock. Would the scoring not show up very well?
No if you were to score it would score exactly along the edge of design so it wouldn’t do anything but score. You need it to go just beyond the outside line
Oh my gosh, THANK YOU for this! I've been so wary to try this, but it looks not too bad. Just curious, could you use more pressure to emboss or is than an option when you choose this function? Thanks again! 😊
More pressure is an option but I don't find it makes any difference. I tested this quite a bit before I made the video. I tried using heavier pressure settings but that just tore the paper.
Yeah I know :) no one is perfect. I don’t try and make the perfect project everytime I try to keep it real. I never want people to think everyone else can make projects perfect every time because that is just false and leaves people feeling like if they don’t get it right they are a failure
It’s not an aftermarket adapter it’s the one that comes with the cricut. I take mine out because I don’t use cricut pens most of the time so it has to be removed.
@@Pcblover1st lol honestly I don’t think a lot of people do! If you ever want to take it out you need to pinch the bottom of it together and push it up from the bottom
can't wait to give this a try. Thank you!!!

Thank you so much for this. Thinking of embossing a few Father's Day cards now lol
I've seen embossing done with the foiling tool. So that could be done with Joy.
I’ve already got it on my list to try :)

It won’t emboss deeper but you technically could have run it through a second time

Thanks I appreciate you for answering my question. You have a wonderful day.

Thicker fonts are going to work best for embossing but truly you can use any you want
@@CorinneBlackstone Thank You for your quick response Corinne it is greatly appreciated
Fabulous
@CorinneBlackstone what settings are you using to cut? Also, could I do the top layer in parchment paper? And if so, what setting? Thank you
I cut on heavy cardstock. I don’t see why you couldn’t use parchment paper. I would try using light cardstock. I’d be a little worried it might rip

Yes it’s a pearl finished cardstock

Corrine, have you tried putting an old Joy blade in backwards and increasing the pressure? I did this with my Expression years ago successfully.
I believe it would rip the paper. The opposite side of the blade is not as blunt as it probably needs to be to do this.
I've done it successfully with my EXPRESSION. I would think that with today's improved customization in CDS, it can be done.
Hello all 😊
Corrine , you use the foil tool to emboss on the Joy? I've seen where it was used for scoring
Ahhhh interesting. I forget about the foil tool a lot because well in general I hate it lol. I’ll have to give it a try
A piece of on of the shell was lifted off

Hello
Have you embossed faux leather?
It isnt strong enough
Is it possible if you have a maker?
@@tammypottinger3691 I haven’t tried it but I highly doubt it will work real well. But I will see if I have any smooth leather and give it a shot
