Imagine casually saying to non-art folks visiting your house: "Hey, have you seen my eyeball tray?" Love it! 😆

Love that method of keeping large & small items together.

Best tip ever, I found it out the hard way: keep stuff in the books :)

Omg we have the same thought process. I learned the hard way to keep them in the books. I categorize mine the same way too like geology, eyeballs ect

Yup, I have different boxes and trays for different clippings. Hard to believe not everyone does this.

My name is Kym and I am a cutout-aholic...I spend more time cutting then I do creating. Oh the shame...

@@TheRedWizzzard Due to a disability, I’m unable to use my hands to cut out images. However, I started using an app that cuts out images for me to create digital collages.

Great idea! Where do you find the cigar boxes? Most places/people around that have them what to sell them.

Flea markets sometimes. I would only pay about $3 for one. Sometimes the dimensions are bad. I also found old board game boxes to work very well. And the size of them are better.

    Loved the tips, thanks. Coincidentally,
I actually used a large cigar box lid for a collage base last year and I loved it. I've used paper, canvas, mat board, illustration board, and the cigar box lid was the best. I really much prefer a rigid surface. Any tips for finding other hard bases for collage?

Lately I’ve loved the vintage look of aged hard book covers. For my classroom, I sliced off old coverers of encyclopedias. The glue sticks to the inside cover. Glossy covers don’t work well. My podcast guest Lance Letscher has collages on everything from handguns to motorcycles. Check out the episode, it’s great!

I actually do that, I don't cut up a book of roses lets say because they're all together like you say. But what I do, do is cut out all images or pages I will never use so that I don't store useless papers.
