just ran across your channel. I have come across some great magazines at estate and yard/rummage sales. One estate had a box of about 20 magazines and got them for $4. If you get a chance to sign up for free emails from estate sale letters. You can look through the photos. If there are books, more than likely they will have magazines or other pamphlets.
this is solid advice! thanks
Great Tips! Thank you!
Just found this. Very cool. Thanks.
Also , Women's Day , Good House Keeping , and McCalls are all excellent - excellent magazines to find interesting images . I have found old encyclopedias - dumped in the dumpster - at the local storage unit property . They have great possibilities..... as long as you don't get stuck reading about topics - that you never knew you had an interest in .
How ironic ! I have that very same Technics cassette player in my living room !
Did you mention how you got this enlarged?
@@303dencolo I took a photo and f it with my phone, changed the DPI then printed it at a shop on adhesive vinyl.
I’d love a closer camera view and slower movements. TY.
@@303dencolo this was one of the first ones I made. I changed things up after this
TWO CRITICAL ADDITIONAL INSTRUCTIONS if you want your glue-stick collage to last. Ive collaged books and wall pieces for over 20 years - complex and detailed layers, so flat you have to touch to find edges. 1. COVER BACK OF EVERY PIECE with glue - edge to edge. I glue-up on old phone books - easy to tear off & have fresh surface. 2. Once a piece is pressed into position - BURNISH IT - rub the entire surface down with a smooth hard edge. Large pieces should be worked from center out. The thinner the paper, the more carefully you need to burnish. My favorite tool is a small pan scraper- held at shallow angle to keep from tearing or marring paper. Until you're experienced with how any paper behaves, *Pulling/dragging across * the piece is safer than pushing. If your *cutting* is delicate - intricate edges or interior cutouts- place a sheet of acetate - or smooth paper - over the work before burnishing. CLEAN surface as you go: Glue gets everywhere, and firm burnishing will push any extra glue out from under piece. Have a damp cloth on hand and wipe the surface and edges of each piece as you go. Good luck. Some of us learned to do this because there was no photoshop ;->
So happy I found you. Thanks for your video’s. I’m hooked and want to make collage art❤

Love your content, can you tell me what scissors you’re using please?
you can find them here! www.redwizardcollage.com/supplies
Thank so much!
You’ve given me SO many great ideas to source materials for collage! Also your blog is helpful and fun, thanks for your content ❤️
Hello! I am new to collage and am looking for a new pair of scissors for crisp cuts. Can you tell me what brand the gold ones are that you are using in this video and do you like them?
so its just an old man that can use scissors and tape to do shit
I'm actually thinking of getting into collage in a bit of a reversal from what you're talking about here. I live in my grandparents' house thats full of TONS of old magazines and I hate to just throw them all out, so why not give collage a try? We'll see if i get into it or not. You seem like you have a lot of great advice so I'll give you a sub!
thanks! have fun!
I found his documentary on Tubi a while ago. Watched it several times. His collages are mind-blowing! Found your channel from a Google search on his work. Looking forward to more of your interviews.
time life?
You are so darling and so informative and really funny n a fellow Nyer!!!
Interesting watching you putting so many pieces on the collage. I worry about making it too busy.
Link to collage kit no longer working.
thanks for letting me know.
😢😮
This is great! I'm having my 8th graders research and analyze important figures from the Harlem Renaissance and they will be creating their own collages as the summative assessment. I tried opening the link for the free kit and it doesn't seem to exist anymore. Is there any way I could access the kit? Much appreciated and keep up the great work!
Is the shop down? :/
no, it is not. did you want a zine? email me at redwizardcollage@gmail.com

I love collage and watching you cut is so therapeutic
this is so awesome
I'm learning how to collage. Thank you for the tips! ❤🙏
😍😍😍
Do you sell any prints of your other works?
Fantastic tutorials. I have learnt so much!
Scotch double sided tape has been one of my biggest fails as the years of my collage art move on. It fails!!! I hate it with a passion. Maybe it’s the quality here in Aus?
Thank you for a great video. Is the link for the kit still viable? I am being sent and error not when I click on the link.
Very nice and bright! 📘✂️
thanks, I used complimentary colors to make things pop.
Your process inspires me! I'm getting ready to officially retire and I need something productive to do. I don't consider myself an artist but I love color and I'm fascinated by the collage process. I find myself yelling at the TV as you manipulate images around. Sometimes I agree with your choices and sometimes I don't. My question is when do you know you are "done"? Sometimes I like your image and then you go and add a bunch more and I think it's cluttered. Is that just my preference? I tend to like things clean and simple. Is that an okay style?
I found myself completely submerged in your discussion. Mesmerized by the image unfolding before my eyes.
Hey, Ann, thank you for inspiring me today!
I found myself talking to the TV, "No put that there" and "That's good", "wait that's too much". Funness. Love to watch your process.
thanks!
Love your creativity! I particularly like that you share your thought process and that it's a journey in which you're not quite sure where your destination is.....
I lost 55 pounds with Ketovore and resolved my Type 2 Diabetes plus more things. I now have energy and am exploring working on my own collages (because I don't think people would be interested in my stick people - Ha!). I have ideas written down for how to do a collage that highlights my Keto journey. Awesome. So glad I found you.
Do it, I think it would inspire someone!
Love your channel, just discovered it this week. Are you able to do a vid on what happens after you've finished your collage and stuck it to your card stock. Where do you keep it, how do you preserve it, etc. I know you also sell your pieces as posters etc. That side of art collage would help so many of us. Thanks Red Wizard. 🙏☺⭐☪
thank you, that is a good idea. i am glad you like the channel!
@@TheRedWizzzard Appreciate your response. Thank you.
My art studio is a tiny room about half of yours. It’s my favorite room. Each wall is a center. The floor is a “table.” I have an old dresser, bins, and large canvas bags and crates and wire shelves for storage. My writing table is three T.V. trays pushed together. I have a lap desk I use as an extender if I need more space.
I really needed to hear this! I just started working on art again, but still deal with the inner voices telling me my work sucks.
well, from my experience. they wont stop. its natural like gravity. trying to pull things down. just ignore them and keep going!
thank you for this. really helpful!
you are welcome!
this is the 1st "collage" video i've seen (why didn't i do a search for collage content?!). i'm looking forward to watching your videos. i love paper of all kinds & make cards & do scrapbooking w/photos. lately, as I became bed bound 3 yrs. ago, i've been doing a lot of collage & doing what comes naturally. i need to get my x-acto knife out - looks way easier than my scissors although i'm working in bed & would need some kind of work surface. you've taught me something new already! thanx
working directly on wood boards, game boards, and hardbook covers may be a good route. they are stiff enough that your background becomes a work surface.
thanx! great idea & my mom goes to thrift stores often so she can find some books or game boards for me.
