Great vid! Car noob question: Why don't you need to put the intake back on when running the engine to get the air bubbles out of the coolant? Does that risk damaging anything? My biggest fear in working on cars is breaking something and making it worse than it was before
A great question! While your car will run better with the intake on because it will use the MAF (Mass Air Flow) sensor to measure the amount of oxygen going into the engine. It does not need it to function! The manufacturers know about how much air will be flowing into the engine from all the testing they do and they just make an educated guess. That way if your MAF sensor breaks, your car isn't just dead in the water. Really the only issue with no intake would be nothing filtering the air going into the engine. So if you take the intake off and you throw some sand or pebbles into your engine while it's running you will most likely ruin your engine. Being worried about ruining your car when working on it is a valid concern and when you're learning how to work on vehicles you should definitely use manuals or TH-cam videos to make sure you do things right along the way. There can be a lot of things to remember and sometimes mistakes can be expensive. But I wouldn't let that thought stop you from doing it! Working on cars has been one of the most rewarding hobbies for me. I know that if my car breaks I'm not going to get charged an exorbitant amount of money to fix it because I'll do it myself! And way beyond being able to repair my own vehicles modifying them is even more fun and I think everyone should try it 😎 TLDR: just do it bro its just pieces of metal and plastic held together with smaller pieces of metal and plastic... And some fluids... And sometimes electricity... But just start with the bolts and nuts...
