Hey everyone ! I hope everyone enjoys the video and I hope Misha & I was able to demonstrate the potential of a brand new platform that inspires confidence for more people in the future. To answer the downpipe question: quite simply, the car needs an ECU flash. The latest & ‘greatest’ Bosch Ecus cannot compensate with all that added airflow from the downpipe. The new G series cars are extremely sensitive which is also why the dashboard was lit up like a Christmas tree from the seats. We have fixed the codes from the Recaro seats with coding so they are no longer present & I may be sending my ecu off for a bench unlock. Stay tuned for the final update with a proper suspension and a bit more power ! Cheers 🎉
if you watch the dashboard you will see specific codes such as “seat back malfunction” that happens in this car specifically because you’re supposed to utilize a latch to lean the seat forward to ingress/egress the back seat
The “yellow flag” moment illustrates incredibly well how dangerous Nurburgring is - one second you’re having the time of your life going flat out and the second you see people walking on the track. Valuable lesson that on this track you can never forget that it isn’t a track per se.

Basically just a matter of time until something happens. Great save by Conrad calling the unsafe track and Misha braking and dodging; but some situations will be just unsaveable ...
@@stoneeh The world is full of things that can go wrong. The ring is as safe as it can be for the fun it offers. Driving to the condition applies and I think those who do that drive comparably safe.

BMW's strategy is genius with last few models. They're showing off vehicles that are looking horribly when you first look at them on the renders and photos but everyone's talking about them. Later on when there's more of these cars on the roads people suddenly fall in love with the design, not to mention insane driving performance. The story will be repeated with M2, i'm 100% sure.
People fall in love because of it not being as dramatic in person as well as out the box performance and potential and the leap from last gen. If they were the same or worse than the F gens then there'd be a general hatred for them
the newer BMWs hits different when you see it in person irl, hated the G8X when I first saw it in pictures but immediately fall in love when I see it in person
im blown away by watching the car on a video how it handles and sticks. big upp to the owner doing great with the mods. and Misha also did drive pretty well in my opinion
I have been watching for not terribly long, but have gone through plenty of lap videos, and it seems like this lap was one where these guys really had a great time. Hopefully we see this car back with the limiter removed and not even tuned, but get the O2 sensors tricked into not throwing the car into limp mode.
It's amazing how well the M240i xDrive respond with racing compound tires and racing brake pads... I don't know if the huge back spoiler make a big difference too, but the upgrade look fantastic on the track! This car don't need a racing suspension the way I see it drive... Well done BMW 👍👍👍
Actually incredible video. I’ve been on the fence on this car for the last month or so after watching several videos and reviews. I want a car that with a little work can be an incredible track car. Perfectly timed I can’t wait to see what the future brings for you guys, and can’t wait to get mine.
When I had my ‘04 Miata, I replaced the stock 16” wheels with lightweight 15” wheels with lower offset and aggressive summer tires and noticed a big difference. It felt like the car barely had any body roll compared to a lot of body roll before. So no, the suspension modification isn’t required when you change wheels and tires (but will definitely improve the handling). Just different wheels and tires could make a big difference. Great video!

5 years form now when there is a healthy aftermarket for the G42, I think it will be revered as the optimal "Tuners Car".... Great platform, High potential, and such a high value for what you receive. Essentially with just a a few basic performance mods, its a 1st gen GTR for just $55k with modern technology. There is no reason to "upgrade" to a G87 if you have a G42... Unless you are that focused on owning a manual, the G42 has higher performance potential due to its AWD platform(at least for certain applications).... I love the G42, its just such a great value for owners, and once aftermarket manufacturers offer a wide array of products, along with ECU tuning, this will become a car that tuners seek to have in the garage... Such a perfect car for the underdog type...
i am only watching these but feels like a simulator i can feel in my back of my head that the car has this steer by throttle and grip is strong. wonder if it has an upgraded suspension in the future, more performance gain. great platform.
Damn Misha! As someone who watches almost every video, I must say you REALLY enjoyed this lap with the M240. Was it really this good or were you just suprised?
It's incredible how much better tires and brakes make a difference! And I guess that little wing in the rear might have helped, too, but I'm always a bit sceptical about such small wings doing much.
@@MrAchilles113 For *appearance* that wing is huge but compared to the weight of the car a wing like that with roughly horizontal setup is pretty meaningless, in my opinion.
@@vollcare4076 Hard to say from the visual appearance. I would guess maybe half less. Basically near the same difference as having tank near full vs near empty.
@@MikkoRantalainen tank near full (50Liter) is ca 40kg vs near empty is ca 5-10kg, so ca 30-35kg difference. Also wing at the rear has additional lever as it’s positioned behind the rear axle, so 100kg downforce of the wing might lead to 150kg downforce at the rear wheels
Im not sure when was it but I put my Z4 M40i right there when I was there week and a half ago. I remember this guy (or someone similar) flying past me couple of times when I rented, not sure how I missed you (or its just a different Z4!) Amazing lap and I feel the car growing on me slowly.

@@redsiricer cause you can't fix the whole car by just changing tyres. Also sticky tyres don't work well with soft suspension

New M2 will be fantastic, including exterior design. It is wide and low. It must looks great. Performance for sure will be better than M240

The wheels alone make a huge difference because as it extends the track of the car it changes the balance point so there is less body roll.
