    Just FYI, the joke about the yellow stripes on Dodges comes from the fact that a lot of Chargers and Challengers come from the factory with yellow splitter protectors to protect them in transit, but a lot of owners left them on the car. It looks ridiculous 😅

      I have a mate who purchased one but the dealer pulled the protectors before delivery. He flat out refused the car and backed out of the sale because the yellow protectors were removed.

    I had a GV lip on my NB that is 5.5" at the pinch welds. It had 3.75" ground clearance. It was great and my mileage went up, but I kept tearing the mounting screws out when I hit stuff, so it got retired. I think this is a great solution, since it does not reduce ground clearance. It would be really cool to follow this product up with something that takes the flat bottom back to the rear of the car.

    Dodge dealers installed a bright yellow splitter guard and a lot of owners kept it, that’s the ‘joke’

    Now that FM is offering a wing kit, and front splitter kits will your next route be to get a rear diffuser in R&D?

      No promises, but we can definitely look into it!

      @Flyin' Miata awesome! I've always though diffusers, splitters, and rear wings are the main core of a aero kit.
      Underbody panels are the next best time to slick the underside of the car.

      We teamed with RGR to get a rear diffuser made, and RGR also makes side skirts. Flyin Miata should have them on their site soon.

    I tried driving that same splitter without the rods and it started flapping and wobbling around 45 mph😅. Lesson learned. Use the rods.
    Also there are some splitter rods by fsperformance that are designed “quick disconnect” style.

      By the way, do bolt-on parts like side skirts and generic rear diffusers actually do anything?

    How about some side skirts to compliment? Something that doesn't take away from the body lines at the bottom.
    Love the splitter and it's essentially exactly what I'm looking for. 👍

    This RSG lip supports the GV lip. Does the 9- Lives lip kit also support the GV lip to be installed?

    One day the ND will get some love.

    • @johntechwriter
      @johntechwriter ปีที่แล้ว

      I suspect that with emissions laws pretty much eliminating an ND2 turbo kit, FM are coming up against the trend away from gas-burning engines by regulators. Old Miatas can still be legally modified, but not new ones. And pretty soon the old turbo’d Miatas will be outlawed, too.
      FM is an upstanding company and will not sell you a car you can’t register. They’ve got to be doing some serious thinking about their future direction.

  • @papapetad
    @papapetad 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Can you send me that NB so I can test the efficacy of the kit? I'm just across the pond from you guys...the Atlantic pond. Much appreciated!

  • @johntechwriter
    @johntechwriter ปีที่แล้ว

    Can you provide independent documentation of the splitter’s efficacy? Wind tunnel tests? Lap times? Presumably testing would be in conjunction with a corresponding wing.
    (Based on the car’s power, I would not be surprised if these downforce assists add enough drag to result in overall slower lap times.)

    Do the spats affect brake cooling (by reducing airflow over the wheels) when not running ducts?

    • @robd2387
      @robd2387 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Would be the opposite actually, because air hitting the tire does not go around it and then into the wheels. The spats will likely slow air down in front of the tire and that in turn will speed it up behind it, likely directing more airflow from the splitter out the wheel well. This extraction effect would evacuate more hot air from the area and this could likely lead to lower brake temps, since the hot air will be able to escape more efficiently.

      @@robd2387 interesting... at cmp earlier this year... Carolina Motorsports Park (cmp) i boiled the brake fluid in my 02 nb.. plan is to get better brake fluid, fender vents and i might just run the spats without the splitter, idk if that will work with out the splitter
