ive been waiting for a REAL rear diffuser for the NB, look forward to buying one guys, thanks for offering up one. i have a giant pile of parts going on when i respray my car this fall. cant wait til everything is done
Can you guys make a video on the considerations of *where* you live - and dealing with rust? My one fear for installing *anything* as a modification - especially to the body - is that it may be fun for those who live in dry climates, but in Hawaii where there's lots and lots of moisture in the air all the time (mornings always have dew forming on cars) some people go and happily drill/cut into their cars only to find out 3-5 years later that everywhere they cut into is now rusty and I've noticed this to be the case for anyone who can't afford a garage to keep their car dry and also drive in the rain (which it does a lot here as well). Things like the underbody reinforcements that must be drilled into the superstructures and aero are of this nature. And it has caused me much pause in modifying my car how I want. Even something as small as installing a stereo has been stressful on some cars where you must "scratch off" paint to allow a terminal to contact the chassis. And I notice this whether there was paint applied or not. Moisture/condensation seems to win in the end unless we completely leave the metal alone.
We state in our instructions to use paint or some kind of rust preventer whenever you need to drill some holes. That's really all we can do. Miatas are unfortunately rust prone cars. A healthy application of paint *should* protect from rust, but there's only so much you can do.
Great video. Will you be filming installation instructions for these items? The written document featured on the product page leaves a bit to be desired. Thanks!
It'll look almost identical under the car. Did you have any specific questions on the install process, or are you just wanting to oogle? Both are valid.
Got a question , and maybe I'm dumb for asking this, but I feel you (Keith or any the crew that knows)could tell me and stand behind what you say .. so I have a 91 that's pretty far into the build we say and I'm at the point of looking aero and keeping the car stable and planted with higher speeds and corners .. so my question is , would it have any benefit to have a rear defuser when I only run an aftermarket crash bar and no bumper cover 🤔 .. I mean I understand a defuser is to help from air being trapped by bumper and the way it comes off or our from the back of the car , so that's why I'm conflicting within myself and need outside opinion lol I feel I could still benefit from the slip stream or the turbulence that the defuser helps on , but we're I don't run a bumper would it negat the usefulness of the defuser, or do ya think I could still possibly benefit from one ?.. again , idk if this is a dumb question , but I figured , who better to ask than the og miata guys ... Anyway , thanks. Hopefully, in advance for any advice, and thanks for all you guys do for the community .. peace and love all, keep it rad, stay safe, and build on..l8r famz and keep having fun all
@mastercricket7626 Thanks for watching! It's likely that the rear diffuser would still be beneficial, but without actually putting your Miata in a wind tunnel and testing the setup, it's not really possible to know how the lack of a rear bumper might be affecting the airflow with the diffuser installed.
@FlyinMiataVideo hmm , maybe I will try this , if I can find a wind tunnel here in Easter N.C , and either get a video or a graph .. cuz I'm curious to know now, lol .. thanks for the response, fam .. much love, guys 🤘🏽✌🏽
Probably not big enough to make significant body parts, but I bet someone on a Miata specific 3D printed form or Facebook group would be up to the challenge!
Out of curiosity, what would be your opinion of putting this whole kit on a street/AutoX NA. Is it worth it or do you only see the effects at long strait, sweeping corner speeds?
A well designed aero package should be beneficial around 60 mph and higher. For a street car, I think you'd have to pay pretty close attention to feel the effect but it would be noticeable at any track event since you're pushing the car to its limits even at the slower speeds.
Just info from the real world. I had a NA with a diy splitter and diffuser, which looked very similar and found 1.7 secs around the local track. Obviously different days, but 1,7 secs is not natural variability - this sort of set up will give you lower lap times for sure
While I like and respect FM's products, I find aero products in general, installed on a street Miata , silly and "Ricky-roadracerish" at best. I would recommend instead attending a driving school. And you know what they say about bellybuttons and opinions😁
Lets go Flyin Miata and RGR!! 🍻🍻🍻

Good luck!
Any plans to have this for the NC?
Not at this time, unfortunately!
@@FlyinMiataVideo😢 You've got my vote and support for moving forward on it when the time is right.

@@twrcrew8852 I live in the rust belt. Get a can of fluid film and spray it underneath as well as any freshly drilled holes. Fantastic product
NC ones would be nice
Thanks for the feedback!
I know you addressed it but, we really need a video on the lift. Under car down force, needs to show under the car.
Good point! I'll put it in the "we should" folder for future videos.

The diffuser install is very simple - you can figure it out without instructions. For the side skirts - possibly.
@@FlyinMiataVideo yeah moreso for the skirts. The diffuser seems simple enough.
Cheers!
Please install these on a NA at some point and have a video of it on a lift :D

How big is your 3d printer? Any chance you can print something like the tupperware kit to go over my ugly rust repair? :D Merry Christmas!

Will The side aero pieces fit oem large Tupperware side skirts? I have some on right now but I really want those side aero
As long as you select the correct option, yep. 😁flyinmiata.com/products/rgr-sideskirt-kit-nb?_pos=1&_sid=061b6f54a&_ss=r

@FlyinMiataVideo follow up question then....is there any downsides on a street/AutoX car...other than ground clearance
Will the rear diffuser work with a V8 Miata using FM exhaust?
Yes, Keith tested that when we were evaluating the diffusers.
I’d love to see a blooper real with the splitter, side skirts, diffuser and wing going through a car wash on a car.
Oof. Not from us. Soft tops are already sketchy enough during car washes.
as usual, Yatch Club members need not apply.
which is info I could have used 13 minutes ago, lol.
cool parts, though.
Sorry for the inconvenience! We're trying to show the NC love in other areas, like our upcoming turbo kit, but no aero mods are planned yet.
So what do you guys think about fixing the bumper aero?
This effectively takes "bumper aero" out of the picture.

Congrats! Thanks for sharing, that’s good info.
if i buy this ill get my money back in gas saving

Why not both? Good driver AND a good car!
We can't improve the driver, that's up to owners. We can improve the car, so that's our focus.
ads out of control
Sorry, Blame TH-cam.
If you go so fast that you need aero devices on your Miata, your doing it wrong.
people shouldn't drive their miata fast? im not sure i follow your logic
Thanks for watching!
