Quick question... You mentioned that you guys were working on a skid plate but it got to hot under it. Have you guys ever made one that had some louvers to evacuate the hot air? or have you guys just decided to abandon the idea of making a skid plate for this setup? A skid plate would be awesome but i agree the expense of more heat would be a deciding factor.
We tested with various ducts and outlets and were not happy with the results, so we abandoned the project. It wasn’t intended as a skid plate but as an aerodynamic flat surface.
@@FlyinMiataVideo cool thanks for the extra information. I figured you guys probably already did that. but i know sometimes when you make a new part that something else might come up and pull you off a project to focus on it, so i didnt know how far down the rabbit hole ya'll went. The intention behind the part is good information also. Thanks for the thoughtful reply. I've been driving these cars for a long long time and it still amazes me the things you can accidentally hit with the bottom of the car lol
The recessed bolt pocket have issues filling with concrete debris, coupled with the bolt heads being ground and beaten makes removal a little more time consuming.
The FM rails are made of stainless steel and you can add our butterfly bracing to them for a greater increase in rigidity over rails alone. One nice thing about stainless is that it doesn't rely on a coating for corrosion protection.
If you are asking specifically for the frame rails, yes, our newer frame rails bolt in the same footprint as the old frame rails, meaning you can update to the newer design without drilling new holes. If you are asking about the butterfly braces, then no. They only work with the mounting points on our newer frame rails, and will not work with the old versions.
We've been updated by the freight shipment courier that our next shipment of Butterflies has made port on the east coast, but we're waiting for them to clear Customs and start making their way to us in CO. We don't yet know if the current dock workers' strike is affecting this, so it may take longer than normal for the Butterflies to reach us.
The V1 and V2 rails use the same hole placement. Some of the earliest rails didn’t use quite as many, but the holes they used are still in the same place.
Hey! I'm late to the party! I've just bought a car for the very first time, and it's a 1994 Miata! This video was posted two months ago and it appears you guys already sold out again! Any idea when more will be coming?
Sorry about that! We are expecting more very soon! For a more exact date, please reach out to our customer support team directly, they will be more than happy to give you any info we have. Thanks!
A bit of extra weight and a bit of extra cost. You'll notice the Miata chassis got more rigid every few years, there's really no downside to a stiff structure. We did a video specifically on chassis rigidity called "When flex is bad".
What does this do? I find my feet get hot and it's awful in the Summer. My shifter rubber gaskets are open to the ground. Realized when I installed stereo this spring. I got a bushing kit with new rubber to keep heat from tranny out of cockpit... Thinking of insulation kit to take care of heat this summer

I was looking to get a set but comparing the price from the UK this is almost double to the Cybul ones which are like your V1 ones, Why is it almost twice the cost at $649?
The Cybul units appear to be a close copy of our first generation butterfly. Our new design is lighter, much easier to install, offers more exhaust and ground clearance and gives a greater increase in rigidity. Without insider knowledge of their production and costs, it's impossible for us to comment on their retail. It is pretty clear they haven't spent anything on R&D, though.
@@FlyinMiataVideo I do like with yours as shown to have mounting for an under tray, also while im here do you know roughly how much would it cost to Import these to the UK?
I bought the old version for my 99 model like 5 years ago one month before you guys went the new design, I was so disappointed I still havent installed the frame rails and butterfly brace on the car 😞
So sorry about that. Sometimes timing isn't fair. The good news is our old frame rails are perfectly good parts if you decided to keep them. Selling parts online can be a pain, but the Miata community is full of good people that may be able to help you get some of your money back. It's relative. Mazda has stiffened the chassis as the years have gone by, including more bracing and better materials. The early cars are going to be less "stiff" just due to age and earlier chassis design.
We're looking into it, but the ND chassis is much stiffer and they are much newer cars. They can benefit from some bracing as well, but don't "need" it the same way the NA/NBs do. :)
Mine mailed out so fast! Say thanks to the gang for me. 😊
Thanks so much! Hope you like them as much as we do!
Thanks, Brandon!

Compressed air is key for the grit. Hope my bolt heads don't get ground. I thought that was the reason for the recessed pockets.
Curious if spraying foam insulation will help keep it clean? Until it's time to remove for maintenance or upgrade.

When is the fox suspension going to be back in stock?
As soon as possible. They’re in assembly now.

I do wonder how these compare to the V8R kit, they are cheaper but probably different material as well, been bouncing between this and the V8R kit.

Do the drilled bolt holes line up with the other older versions
Yes they do. So you don't have to make any new holes.

do they work without frame rails??
No, the mounting points for the butterfly are built into the frame rails.
Are V2 frame rails compatible with V1 as far as bolt hole alignment if we wanted to upgrade? (Or do we have to redrill the floor pan)
The V1 and V2 rails use the same hole placement. Some of the earliest rails didn’t use quite as many, but the holes they used are still in the same place.

Is there an disadvantages installing bracing? Does it increase noise inside the cabin or extra wear to suspension components?
